What, you don't like indie music you say? Well, sorry to not conform to stereotypes but no! It all started when I stuck on this video of my dads which had boxing recorded off the tv, about a year ago. After the fight had gone off, suddenly I heard the words '5, 4, 3, 2, 1 - Good evening wembley!' Hmm, whats this I thought - it was only Live at Wembley, recorded off BBC in 1987!! After that I was hooked, all the old Lps came out, visits to record shops were regular things, and of course my brothers collection of bass guitars didn't seem so boring anymore - i didn't even laugh at he words slap bass anymore. So imagine my horror when my dad chipped in with the comment 'I saw a boxed set of three L42 videos at a car boot in Wales (before i was really into them) for ten pounds and i didn't know to get it.' Aagh!!! If only i had been there - i had almost gone as well! Anyway, to cut a long story short, I NEED some more level videos - even though they'll be a tad more than 10 pounds for three!! Also, basically any Level goodies. I don't have much that I want to swap, just a couple of Live at Wembley Cds, and a copy of my video recording! Anyway, help would be much appreciated. Mail me at dkrause @ jkrause.fsnet.co.uk Thanks for your time Ps I'm going to see Mark in November! Sorry, had to tell someone. ------------------------------ Subject: Britfest place From: Nick Brazier Date: Sat, 25 Sep 1999 07:21:23 -0400 Hiya All, I just looking at the possible places for the Britfest and wondered about Brunel University, its got a sort of club area (called The Academy) that can be hired (as did level 42 in 1982!!), if there is no pa there is no worry about that as i could use my speakers which can blast! (I think there is a good house pa) There are loads of B & B's near by, even on that road, and its only about 20-30 mins drive from Camden which maybe too far for some, but we can use drivers for the night (myself included, especially as I live 2 mins from the University!!) and theres a tube station in Uxbridge, and my drum kit and bass are only a matter of 2 mins away!! (plus loads of local pubs for the day after!) just an idea anyway.... it does have a historical history as the guys played there!!! take care Jonathan also, did Mark and Phil only do one track with Leisure Process International?? ------------------------------ Subject: Brazil From: "Andrew Goodwin" Date: Sat, 25 Sep 1999 13:35:03 -0000 > Subject: BRITFEST 2 UPDATE > From: "Andy Smith" > > Work HAS been going on behind the scenes for this BF! I have three possible > venues : > 1 - The Hope and Anchor, Islington, North London; > 2 - The University Tavern, off the Tottenham Court Rd, near Camden > 3 - The Aylesbury Police Sports & Social Club, Aylesbury, Bucks For the fortunate majority of you unfamiliar with the place, I feel compelled to point out that Aylesbury is the most wretched, soulless congregation of roundabouts and housing estates ever to masquerade as a town. A month or so ago I even went back there for the first time in about 10 years, feeling that the jaundiced views formed during six socially crippling years at its repressive all boys Grammar School might have been causing me to unfairly malign the place - and discovered that it is now, incredibly, even more miserable and characterless than it was in my youth. Coupled with my revulsion for London following four demoralising years rotting in the Metropolitan Police, I fear these venues will once again deprive you all of my vivacious banter and boundless bonhomie. Should anyone want to hold a Miserable Gitfest in the Oxford area though, I'm your man. AG ------------------------------ Subject: Getting close to ... From: "Laure Grandpierre" Date: Sat, 25 Sep 1999 15:27:34 +0200 Hello everybody Haven't posted anything for a very long time but I'm afraid I don't have anything interesting to share those days... Anyway, November is coming soon, still think about organising my coming and I'm getting really excited about attending the concerts, OF COURSE, but about seeing some great friends, and meeting new people.... Quick question : does any of you know if Catherine Jones (from Wales right ?) and her husband (still difficult to remember his complete name, Em ??) have finally had access to the net and can't be contacted this way ?? Win, I know you might be the one with the answer about this, but that was an opportunity to give a little hello to everybody from a grey Paris... I would like to know if they're coming to London in November, I guess so by the way, after that trip to NY. Take care all and my best personal regards to those I know. Oops, was about to forget, finally received my copy of Trash 10 days ago, it took me a ridiculous time to order it, I'm such a foolish girl sometimes, I had to write a long letter to send it with....Okay, you can laugh at me :) But now I've got it, and I can't help from listening to it, and I would like to thank Nigel and Don for their work on the lyrics. There might be some minus changes to do, but I might not be the best person to give my opinion about this, as a non native English speaking person, but I will think about it anyway. See you soon Hasta luego A bientot L. Laure GRANDPIERRE The Spirit is Free..... From: "LINDSKOG JENNY" Date: Sat, 25 Sep 1999 18:02:12 +0200 >That way your mind will be clear to absorb the Level >42 information you find on the digest, which is a good idea - in fact I wish >I'd thought of it. What? Is this where we get information about Level 42? No, sorry, I'm only kidding! Another way to clear your mind from unnecessary thoughts is to put "43" on repeat for 48 hours while you sit and meditate, avoiding all food and drink. Or you can imagine Mike in a Starfleet Uniform, that really works for me! Captain's Log - Stardate 424242.1 We have returned safely from our journey in the Badlands where we rescued the people from the horrible men of the Bakkstrit. We were successful in our attempt to rescue the holy Pazs which brings joy to the people. From: "Dan Nesselroth" Date: Sat, 25 Sep 1999 11:16:54 PDT Does anyone out there know of any L42 cd's with DREAM CRAZY, ALL SHE WANTS and the version of COUP D'ETAT without lyrics? I have all these tracks on 12" singles, but want a CD version. Keep in mind I live in Canada and really only have access to US versions of L42 stuff. And if anyone is interested, I have a limited edition album from TALKING HEADS campus tour in 1978! It includes the song DRUGS, but on this version it is called "ELECTRICITY". It was new material at the time....BEFORE "Fear of Music" came on the market. Price negotiable. BTW, the version of "Psycho Killer" on this is the best version of the song ANYWHERE!! And lastly, but NOT FOR SALE is a bootleg...1st generation...of February's NICK CAVE gig at Dublin. My wife made this during the show and the quality is amazing. I will not sell it, but I will tape someone a copy for FREE if they like. It is a good show, and Nick reads from his most recent book as well. ------------------------------ Subject: JAKKO.COM From: RPERSAUD12 @ aol.com Date: Sat, 25 Sep 1999 17:37:49 EDT Jakko, Well done for your work done on your site.
