GREEN ------------------------------ Subject: Mark King - NDR 2 Radiokonzert From: "Rainer Zielbauer" Date: Wed, 15 Sep 1999 12:59:05 CEST Hi folks, I taped the recent Mark King concert (NDR 2 Radiokonzert) on VHS and will now copy the whole thing on harddisk for a little optimization. After that I will burn some CDR's. If anyone is interested in a copy (of course with hardcover and coloured cover) please let me know (TOETSENMAN @ HOTMAIL.COM). The CD will be available for DM 30.00 (inclusive p&p) to cover my costs. Hopefully someone out there will be able to answer the following questions... - Why is the version of Billy's Gone different from the RCA release? - Why is All Over You not on the Resurgence album? I seem to remember somebody saying that the Resurgence version was actually how the band wanted to release the album. Plus I noticed that the actual track FN was co-written by some people who haven't collaborated with L42 before to my knowledge. Any ideas anyone? Anyway, it's a really cool album. Talking in Your Sleep is one of my favourites. That's it for now. I don't know if this has already been mentioned on the Digest (my page down button seems to be used a lot when reading it) so if this is old info, then I do apologise! I am in the dark about the exact year this Level gig was >recorded, but it's probably early eighties. I'll find that one out, for sure. Dear all, I'm sorry to disappoint you but this is not a rerun of the Veronica's Rocknight 1984 gig. Unfortunately not, because I think its their best concert available on video. Countdown Hitfiles is a special about artists that have come to the Countdown studio. L42 has been a guest very often. Next saturday they will show material of L42's appearances through the years. I think they will show a track of the 1984 gig but certainly not the full concert as this program only lasts 20 or 30 minutes and they will show 4 or 5 artists. L42 is just one of them! But there's a chance that they will broadcast new material of L42 because that's what they also said about this program. So who knows.......... Greetings, Marcel ------------------------------ Subject: Re: mark king on german tv From: Carl.Mueller @ per-se.com Date: Wed, 15 Sep 1999 10:35:06 -0700 Hello everyone, Thanks to Michael and Claus you can now hear the infamous clip of the "Ohne Filter" interview for yourself :-) on the LATEST NEWS page! The host of the show asks if Level 42 still exists.... (well, not for the last 5 years, no) (the last show was at the Royal Albert Hall on Oct 14th, '94) Mark's reply "the band exists in the minds of some sad people" is aimed directly at the uninformed host who then promptly translates "sad people" as "traurige leute" (meaning "sad" as in "crying" instead of the obvious other meaning :-) (note: the other meaning being "pathetic") It reminds me of the Rockpalast '84 interview, one of the stupidest I ever heard :-) The girl asks Mark "Are you in love with your bass?" to which Mark replies "No, I'm in love with you" To which the girl stammers "No, uh, I'm uh... I'm already uh gone" At the end, the band does an a cappella bit ...There's a realvideo file of that somewhere... tcoy Carl Mueller webmaster @ forevernow.com http://Forevernow.com/ ------------------------------ Subject: Mp3 Updates From: Daniel James Date: Wed, 15 Sep 1999 11:30:07 -0700 (PDT) Just a quick note to say that the mp3 resource page has been updated. Thanks to Carl Mueller for introducing me to style sheets, so now the fonts are more consistent. I hadn't noticed it before on IE5.0 under Win 2000 but back home on Netscape v4 on my Mac, it looked awful. Should be fixed now. Thanks Carl!!! I've also added a few new titles. 2 tracks from the SFX album (feat. Alan Murphy), a few more Level 42 tracks and also "Kick or the Kiss" from Tinman. This file was previously available on another digester's web page, but his page appears to be down so I've made it available here. The encoding is not so hot so in the next day or two, I'll re-encode it for better quality. Also in the next few days, I'll be adding some tracks from AYGB and by request, Nik Kershaw's Easy. Finally, those that want any of these tracks that are up there should act now. Neurotoxin (the provider that is hosting these files) will be going down for an unknown length of time at the end of this month. Hopefully the interruption will be short as much of the stuff on Forevernow.com is being hosted here as well. Have fun, and you all enjoy the heat in Texas this weekend. Shame I'm not able to make it. I believe it was during some of the Digesters' jaunt to IOW et al in 1998, and it was shown during the '98 NYC Levelfest. Although after all the Red Dogs I downed at Win's place, I remember very little else about it. I did get to see a jammin' live vid of 'Foundation and Empire.' Another entry in the Weirdest Places I've Heard L42: It was 10 years ago that I heard an elevator-music cover (?!) version of 'Lessons in Love' at Abraham and Straus in Hempstead, Long Island. The bass gods must have gagged as well; the store has now been levelled (ahem) to the ground. TCOY, The Duke "...brotherhood is not so wild a dream as those who profit by postponing it pretend." GREEN) Date: Thu, 16 Sep 1999 10:06:39 +0100 Hello friends and collegues, Good news for me - I have located 'Guaranteed' on digital compact cassette. But what does than mean, what does that mean for 'me' hear you all ask. Well, it means I now need only '2' items to complete my full UK Level 42 discography including everything. I need - Micro Kid rare 3 track 12" and Old Gold Reissue - 12" featuring Running In The Family and Lessons In Love. I do realise however, that if I havent found these 2 in 10 years then my chances of picking them up are slim - but if anyone was willing to part with them then please drop me a line and I may make you an offer you can't refuse.
