The SOS CD Live at the Jazz Cafe is absolutely outstanding, and is actually what gave me the idea in the first place. The band [featuring our own Henpecked Horns] tears it up, and the song arrangements are much better than the studio stuff. Its all about the right audience. > >As far as Mark playing with Incognito, I don't know...Randy Hope Johnson has >been doing some pretty mean bass work since "Positivity", y'know. Randy Hope-Taylor is not touring with Incognito anymore. He is now on tour with Jeff Beck, which is the reason I suggested this - since the original bassist on the songs isn't there, it would not really be slighting him to have Mark play on a song. >You know, if you feel that strongly about a show like this, The Groove >Academy are the people to talk to. Lolita ------------------------------ Subject: It`s Over From: "pete willis" Date: Sun, 5 Sep 1999 19:39:38 +0100 Ronald you don`t like It`s Over as a ballad and it would have been better as a dance track! Yep you did state it was only your opinion so who`s to argue. Me.... No not really just wanted to say it`s one of my favourites. To me it is one of the all time classic ballads ever released and I really think the whole mood of the song lyrics is captured in the music.I actually prefer the album version than the actual single remix mind you but it is to me a song that sends shivers down my spine each timeI hear it, if that doesn`t sound too naff? Sorry but it just suprised me a bit, hope you don`t mind my viewpoint also. If it`s done though I`ll buy it. Have Raw Stylus released anything new? Also, Swing Out Sister are an interesting group. They kept the same style for all these years. They are very underrated in the USA. ------------------------------ Subject: MARK TICKETS FOR SALE OR TRADE. Note do this AT YOUR OWN RISK.if done too hard you can damage the machine and Philips WILL charge a $280 service fee for Drawer damage caused by the Manual swap trick as well as when they repair the machine, they fix this little loophole on top of voiding your warranty. To completely avoid the possibility of damage and voiding warranty, USE ONLY Audio CDRs also you can do a search on YAHOO or Deja.com for DOOR SWITCH and SWAP TRICK for instructions for installing a remote switch without soldering and can be removed B4 sending it in for warranty service. ONLY if it is an OLDER Philips 870 or 880 (B4 Oct. 1998), you can do what is called the "swap trick" But you need to have at least one "Consumer Audio CD-R" to "trick" the recorder. TDK CDR-74s work best and play back on everything. You need-One Audio CDR and the rest regular blanks. First place the "Audio" CD-R in the machine and press the close button. The machine will go into OPC mode to check for the verification code. When it is done, it will display 00:00:00. This means it is ready to record. Next, very carefully and SLOWLY PULL OPEN THE CD TRAY and remove consumer disc. and "swap" the AUDIO CDR with the PC CDR. Now SLOWLY PUSH the door close all the way. Now you can record. NOTE YOU MUST NOT OPEN THE DOOR UNTIL YOU ARE FINISHED RECORDING AND have completed the FINALIZE step. You can stop and continue but again do not open the door nor turn off the machine until Finalized or you end up with a shinny coaster. The extra cost of the AUDIO CDRs is due to a RIAA fee that is paid as a royalty distributed to ALL registered artists as a royalty for all Audio CDRs sold in order to offset losses due to pirating. The verification code that is PRINTED on the disc CANNOT be duplicated and copied onto regular blank CDRs. Also when you record with a CDR, YOUR machine IDENTIFICATION code IS RECORDED onto the disc. If the machine was bought with a credit card or registered for warranty purposes, a copied DISC CAN BE TRACED to your doorstep because that code reflects your machines serial number. Big Brother IS watching. Again, this only works with the older Philips 870/880 machines and nothing else. The Marantz 630 IS the 880 except it can use regular CDRs but again the extra $500-600 goes to that RIAA fee. Hope this helps and clears up some of the confusion. The Tin Tin Out mix sounds more the intro to the old Brit sci-fi show Dr Who than anything remotely Level 42.
