Happy New Year! I just got back from Berlin, Germany. When I was there I stopped in quite a few record stores and Mark King was represented well, especially at WOM (World of Music). Plenty of "One Man" cd's on the shelves. Anyway, I want to know if anybody out there has any extra copies of the "All Over You" singles, Red and Blue coverslips. I used to have the Blue cover but unfortunately I misplaced it a few months ago and have not been able to find it.... If anybody has any copies that they would like to part with, please email me! thanks! -Mark Harter mdharter @ yahoo.com ------------------------------ Subject: Happy Birthday, Cliff! From: Daniela & Mihail Dobrinov Date: Sat, 02 Jan 1999 14:51:01 -0800 (PST) Just to wish Happy Birthday to a remarkable member of the Digest. All the best, Cliff! Daniela ------------------------------ Subject: Wally Badarou solo work From: PFCPaull @ aol.com Date: Sat, 2 Jan 1999 10:58:34 EST Regarding the request in the Digest about info about Wally Badarou solo albums. I found and purchased 2 CDs a few years back, titled "Echoes" and "Words of a Mountain." The "Words of a Mountain" jacket also contains a thorough and very interesting bio about Wally and includes some details about his works with L 42. I really do not know anything about how available these CDs are (I have never seen them at any other record stores since I purchased them), but if anybody would like a cassette of them, I would be happy to send them out and would even include a copy of the aforementioned bio. Just e-mail me at: PFCPaull @ aol.com Jim ------------------------------ Subject: Wally Badarou From: "Lolita K. You probably saw a video for the song 'Chief Inspector'. Chief Inspector was a five song EP released in 1986 that contains my favorite Wally song 'Novela Das Nove' from Kiss of a Spider Woman. He also has two LPs - one is called Echoes and the other is Words of a Mountain. I have never seen Chief Inspector on CD (I have it on tape), and am actually interested in getting it on CD. I'll check CD Now and Audiophile and such to see if I can get it from somewhere. Lolita ------------------------------ Subject: I always wanted to say this. From: "Laurence Green" Date: Sat, 2 Jan 1999 19:20:07 -0000 Americanism coming up: Enough of this already!!! (hurrah) Anyway, knowing Joe as I do, I'd bet my mortgage he's already posted a message of support for lolita to the digest under one of his mysterious pseudonyms. Hows that for insight? I've been in touch with Boon a bit lately and he may be making some progress on the new album front as I said earlier. I can't say too much without Boons clearence, but it all is gonna be very interesting. For anyone who has ordered issue 2 or WordMachine, I have not sent any out for about 4 weejs due to my moving house, I have just re-ionstalled my printer and all copies owing should be one their way next week. Hurrah. Also, I know I owe an MD and a couple of tapes, they're coming too. I have now seen lalala live and another couple if Dutch programmes, in particular lalala live was superb, with Hello Its Me being the I-point as you Germans would say. Gotts dash............. After listening to Mark's, Mike's and > Boon's solo albums you can almost see were Level 42 was fused together. In a few weeks I will have some very speciaal news on a new album from Boon that will hopefully really interest all digesters. LOZ ------------------------------ Subject: Light Bulb jokes From: "Dan Nesselroth" Date: Sat, 02 Jan 1999 12:09:40 PST How many Level 42 fans does it take to change a light bulb? 5. One to mourn for the burning out of the bulb, one to find a new bulb and tell the others where to get it, and three to complain that the new bulbs are poorly mastered. ------------------------------ Subject: Pins/badges From: DonZipf @ aol.com Date: Sat, 2 Jan 1999 18:24:42 EST Happy New Year, everyone! Looking forward to the TourFest. > Can anybody help me Iam searching for the pin badge of > the Guaranteed tour, willing to swap stuff for it. There's a picture of one on display in the Level 42 Pin Museum website! In fact, I've been meaning to invite everyone to stop by the recently refurbished Pin Museum for a look. There are some new artifacts to see, and the site has a whole new look. It's a two-pager now, so don't forget to click to visit the "Museum Lobby" where you can view the picture of me with MK and order Digest pins. The URL is: http://members.aol.com/DonZipf Peace - Don Z. PS - I will be bringing a few Digest pins to the TourFest for those who don't have 'em yet. If you e-mail that you'll be there, I can reserve pins just for you. ------------------------------ Subject: Wally Badarou From: "Mark Cane" Date: Sun, 3 Jan 1999 02:17:57 -0000 Hi everybody, This is in reference to Dan Nesselroth who expressed an interest in Wally Badarou's solo works: Dan, there are two albums that maybe you could hunt down - they are probably officially deleted - but at least you know what you need to find: 1) BACK TO SCALES TONIGHT (Riviere (France) Label) 2) WORDS OF A MOUNTAIN (Island (UK) Label) I can provide a possible source for them on vinyl for you if you are particularly interested. Let me know. A special hello to Lisa 'Mrs Pink' and Mr Marcus Bone and of course David Goodall. Regards to all, Mark ------------------------------ Subject: Hi all, I'm new here... From: "Chris Whild" Date: Sun, 3 Jan 1999 14:47:13 +1100 Hi all Level 42 fans. My name is Chris Whild. I have just got myself on the net and decided to subscibe to the Level 42 mailing lists to see who else is out there and what's going on in Level-land. I have been a Level 42 fan since Running In The Family. I first heard of Level 42 when I went to visit a music shop with a friend who wanted to buy one of these whizzy new CD player things. The guy in the shop got a CD off the shelf to demo the CD player (since, at the time, I had never heard CD's before - yeah, well this was a while ago.....) The album he played was Running In The Family, and the track he selected was Lessons In Love. Well, I was hooked. I loved the song, it sounded GREAT on the CD player (but then, it's Level 42 - it sounds great on ANYTHING), and my friend bought the CD player and the CD. Of course, as soon as I got a CD player I HAD to buy the CD also - and the collection began. As far as I know, I now have MOST of their albums. I am still looking for a couple of the early ones on CD (The Early Tapes and Standing In The Light) but I'll get 'em one of these days. Believe it or not, I have only ever ONCE seen Level 42 on television. What a shame I won't get to see them live (what a brilliant experience that would be...) Unless, of course, they decide to regroup........fingers crossed....... That's the way it is in Australia. People here ask what music you like and you say "Level 42" and they say "WHO?????" So - if there are any Level 42 fans out there in Australia, drop me a line! Especially if you are from Bendigo (which is where I live - a small city of around 90,000 people in the South East of the country) - I'd like to meet you! Sorry for the long e-mail, but hey, what else is there to do at 11.15 pm? P.S. Isn't this a Level 42 fan group? What's with all this mail about racism and nasty e-mail and foul language and squabbles and crap? I thought I'd be reading about the group and related stuff, not all this junk! I'm finding it hard to see ANYTHING relevant to Level 42 amongst it! How about taking your squabbles elsewhere and stick to the focus, guys - LEVEL 42 - one of the GREAT bands of the world. I'm sure THEY wouldn't be interested in reading this rubbish...... ------------------------------ Subject: Level 42 pins, CDs and NOTP, etc From: "SANTA CLAWED" Date: Sun, 3 Jan 99 00:33:05 PST Hey gang, I have listened some more to the Very Best of Level 42, and I gotta say, it sure is nice to have a 'New' CD to listen to. I know, I know, no new stuff (except for the last song) but what the heck? I went shopping for a friend of mine for his birthday in some music shops, didn't find what I was looking for, but did find the James Taylor Quarter's 'Mission Impossible' CD. Good music, but at 33 minutes too damn short, especially if I had to pay $17. But, like the other JTQ I have, it is very good. I have had a reply from someone regarding the Greatest Hits and More CD, now I will put out a plea for the NOTP CD. I will be willing to search out some music here, send cash or figure some kind of trade or other. So let me know! I also would like to thank Don Zipf for the pins, man, they are really nice. Thanks loads, Don, I will send you an email as a followup. With warm regards, Doug White To: LEVEL42 @ WORLDMACHINE.COM
