On our last day together, Laure, Florence, Dan, and I visited the Harkness mansion in Connecticut (the Harknesses were the 4th richest family in America, and left their seaside summer estate to the state to be used as a public park). When our tour guide told us that the mansion had 42 rooms, we all shrieked in unison! She thought we were merely impressed with the sheer number, but none of us ventured to explain our delight to her. And a big thanks to everyone who attended ILF 99 - I had a blast (in spite of the industrial wasteland aesthetic of the place. ;o) Thanks to Lo & Win for "hosting" and organizing. Thanks to Winston for helping with his fine entertainment system and his one-generation-clearer copy of The Pier: King of the Isle, I have identified the bass hanging behind and just right of Mark during the studio interview as my bass. I've been watching that tape for a long time, but mine is so blurry that I couldn't tell what the basses back there were. Then, I was making a copy for a friend, and I began to notice details on that one bass which can be seen more clearly than the others. Imagine my surprise when it turned out to be the bass I bought! It was as much fun as spotting Lisa Harding in Guaranteed Live! The Moon-ese legend grows... Z. ------------------------------ Subject: THE NUMBER 42?
