Yes - sorry i should have told you all about that as I bought it down in Brighton when I went to see Mike. The artwork is a real improvement on previous versions and there is even a photo inside - cool. A steal a 6 quid. I am getting hold of 6 copies of the Master Series with NEW artwork - I think this may not be a UK release so snap them up from I shall be passing them on at 10 quid a piece. There is a popular Level 42 fanzine entitled Word Machine which apparently the group are all quite impressed with but I wouldnt know anything about that. Yes indeed. The very last fan club newsletter reported that among the attendees at the final Albert Hall gig were Lenny Henry and err..Howard Donald from Take That. Keep that to yourselves though eh? I also saw Simon Parkin at one of the Wembley Arena concerts in 1989. He was quite famous then I suppose, as a Childrens BBC presenter. Also, years and years ago, Glenn Hoddle was asked in a questionnaire by Match! (kiddies' football/soccer magazine) if he had any O Levels or A Levels. His reply was: "No, but I do have a Level 42 LP. Whether this qualifies him as a fan I don't know. It's a good discussion thread though. Conversely, a big thumbs-down to the lead singer from Republica, who when asked about the first bloke she ever dumped, said it was because of musical differences: "I was into The Specials and The Jam, he was into Level 42. Very uncool". Speak for yourself, Saffy. I suppose it's bitterness at only having one song anybody ever remembers. Best recent railroad trip I've taken was from Sault Ste. Marie to Hearst on the Algoma Central RR (the Tracks of the Black Bear and all that), now owned by Wisconsin Central RR. The Ontario Northland trip to Moosonee was also excellent. Level 42 to railroad connection is as follows: "Here it comes again / chugging like a train / round and round / an impeccable groove" and "We ride the train of events / we never make our destination / never making any sense" ...Alex... "Til I saw you in pieces" ------------------------------ Subject: lenny and cree From: Jimzgig @ aol.com Date: Thu, 27 May 1999 10:28:08 EDT Hey all, Non-level 42 post but related: Saw the Lenny Kravitz show last night. Funk and soul lovers beware: Do NOT miss this show if it comes to a town near you. Also a band to watch out for: Cree Summer. She is a great performer and will be touring with Lenny throughout the summer (into the Europe dates). Lenny produced her new album. The whole thing was unreal. Black Crowes were good also. Coming down from Heaven, Jim ------------------------------ Subject: Re: Famous Levelheads From: Deane Ogden Date: Thu, 27 May 1999 08:29:53 -0700 > "does anyone know of any other famous level 42 fans.? Believe it or not, Alec Baldwin has mentioned Level 42 on more than one occasion as one of his "top 20 favorite 80's groups". I saw him say it on Rosie O'Donnell's show a few years ago when she was interviewing him for the movie "The Bear" (what a crappy flick that was - Sir Tony Hopkins lowered to the level of running around in an oversized Ewok suit!) Anyway. . . not sure if this thread is interesting or not, but I'm bored, so.... there ya go! It seems to me that the Dutch understand >German, but the Germans don't understand Dutch. Is that somewhat correct? I imagine this is like Swedish/Danish/Norwegian. A lot of Swedes don't understand Danish and Norwegian but Danes and Norweges (?) understand a lot of Swedish. Or am I wrong? I'll probably get hell for this... Am I making ANY sense?? SNIP! >Well.....it seems like I've been raising hell with my little remark about the >Skandinavian language problem!!! No, no! I think it's fun to discuss this! Not that I AM making any sense! >Does anybody have any clue as why the MK official homepage put >Denmark/Sweden/Norway under Skandinavia instread of the countries' name???? It's probably because the three countries are so small and so far away from the rest of the world (except for maybe Denmark which IS closer to the continent =) ) That's what it feels like, anyway. Sometimes I wish I'd been born in UK instead! Everything I like is in Britain!! Except Peter LeMarc and Zzaj (eller hur, Frank?) God, I'll shut up now! Bye! From: "LINDSKOG JENNY" Date: Thu, 27 May 1999 18:04:54 +0200 I suddenly remembered that a couple of years ago, I watched tv and switched channels and all of a sudden Mark King popped up and played bass in court! I later realised that this was a Comedy show with Jennifer Saunders and Dawn French! Has anyone else seen this? I think Mark Knopfler was there too. I have attended a BritFest last November, & the Digest party at Wolverhampton in February, and for the many friends I made through the Digest & these parties these words ring true. Enjoy yourselves, and all good wishes for a successful Fest. Fiona `K'
