Bitte ignorieren und löschen. danke ------------------------------ Subject: Skanderborg festival From: Annie Lysebjerg Date: Sat, 22 May 1999 14:04:52 +0200 This is to BHconrad!!! Skanderborg is a city in the northen part of Denmark!!! Some miles south of Århus!!! And yes, Mark is playing on one of the days there!! Now in general: why is it that every time we speak/write Danish, everybody think it's Swedish??? It's an insult!! Are we really that much a like???? My answer NO!!!! Till alle menniskor i Sverige: no hard feelings now!!! well, take care all!!! Annie Lysebjerg (a proud Dane) "People sit and they worry about the future, doesn't realise that now is all there is" ------------------------------ Subject: From: Nigel Collier Date: Sat, 22 May 1999 20:07:51 +0100 >So, here we go again, back to thumbs: Most of us know that Mark uses gaffa tape >round his thumb and the general understanding seems to be that he wears it for >protection. Now personally I don't think that is the case. My idea is that it >gives his thumb more momentum due to the extra weight. It gives him more >"bounce". Also, Mark's thumb seems to be rather slim, he needs the extra >diameter arond the joint. This I know, because I was lucky enough to catch his >tape at the Augsburg gig this year, it only goes just above my thumb nail. Then you've not listened to the RealAudio clip of a gig Mark did (in Belgium?) on the Forever Now website - Mark himself says that the tape is purely for protection following a nasty callous injury, Mark goes on to say that in fact the tape dulls the sound and ideally bare thumbs are preferable. Having said that, I like the feel of tape on my thumb myself - maybe just cos I feel like Mark King ;-) At the end of a 'gig' I tend to dramatically remove my thumb tape and toss it into the crowd....the crowd being my 11 month old daughter strapped into a high-chair. Jackson" Organization: Morgan Stanley Dean Witter Date: Sat, 22 May 1999 19:06:47 -0400 > BTW, who else is planning to be there on one or both of those > evenings? I'd try to add a few more nights, but it runs into Thanksgiving, so > I have to be back stateside by Thursday. Any Level events scheduled? Nathania, I think that most of the U.S. digesters who are flying over are actually coming during Thanksgiving, at the end of the week. Don Zipf and a couple of others from here are going to arrive earlier in the week, but the bulk of us are arriving on Wednesday and Thursday to save vacation days. I'm sure a number of Brits are going to the earlier shows, but the official stuff will probably be on the Saturday or Sunday after the last show, with the largest number of Jazz Cafe attendees coming on Thursday and Friday nights. I had a gig at a street fair today that I happened to mention to Winman yesterday. Guess who came? Christina Gallego from Spain! Seems she has been in town for a day or two already, and Winman couldn't make it but gave her directions. What a pleasant surprise! The reach of this digest amazes me. It put me in the mood to see all you crazies next week. Lolita ------------------------------ Subject: Anyone else with MP3 files? From: "Byron Wong" Date: Sat, 22 May 1999 07:43:34 PDT Hi digesters, First of all, from Chris's note on the digest, it's good to hear that Gary Husband will be joining Mark in his upcoming gig. Beside Dan's MP3 L42 stuff, does anyone else out there have any L42 MP3 files? I'd appreciate if you could please let me know. I do have ICQ and transferring of those files would be easy of course. Thanks. Later... You have been advised. The site also links to a supercool page from which you can download MP3s of slap and pop sounds (including pops, slaps, hammer-ons and ghost notes) from a 1967 Fender Precision for your own use - there are also a few examples on the page of the samples in use. BRILLIANT! http://www.dizzibeat.com/fender67.html Regards Nigel "...friends all over the world, none in this country but all over the world" - Tony Hancock, The Radio Ham http://www.ncl.ac.uk/~nnac/
