Reading Eric's stats from yesterday I found out that there is another Digest member from Bulgaria (as a domain, because I know other Bulgarian members with a foreign domain). I am interested to know who he or she is. Level Best Regards, Nikolay Spassov Sofia, Bulgaria ------------------------------ Subject: Fait Accompli From: Bkstjohn @ aol.com Date: Wed, 12 May 1999 13:49:46 EDT I am watching F.A. right now. I must say Mark's "Hello Cleveland" at the beginning is *extremely* funny! If some of you haven't watched "Spinal Tap" you really should. Brian ------------------------------ Subject: Worl Machine - 492 in 1000 From: Birdnig @ aol.com Date: Wed, 12 May 1999 14:40:41 EDT Hey, MicroKiddies! Interesting to read, and to share with you, that the World Machine album is listed at 492 out of 1000 in a book published recently, I guess, by Virgin. The author describes the band and a few of the better tracks as follows:- "Although it looks like Level 42 will never make another album at least we have one which seems destined to endure. Mark King has already proved he could slap his bass better than almost anybody, now it is his turn to demonstrate his prowess as a classy songwriter. He succeeded in buoyant fashion with every track, very funky, very poppy and at times upliftingly wonderful especially Something About You and Coup D'Etat. The winner for emotion is the heartfelt Leaving Me Now. Perfection, deliberately made for the age of the CD." - from the Virgin All Time Top 1000 by Colin Larkin http://www.virgin-musicbooks.com TCOY Nigel "...He is real, he is here, he is fashionable". ------------------------------ Subject: re: Wings Of Love - Live From: Carl.Mueller @ per-se.com Date: Wed, 12 May 1999 12:25:24 -0700 Hey everybody, From reading the reviews, Gavin Robertson and Mike Lindup really put on a great show last week. It was a shame we missed it, but flying across the Atlantic is not something you do all the time (maybe just twice a year, like in, say, january and november :-)) Most interesting was the mention that the May 6th gig was officially recorded. Let's hope it will see the light day in some form or another. And speaking of recordings, thanks to Henri Blakenburg you can now listen to Wings Of Love Live from the Dronten '81 show as broadcast in Ferry Maat's SOULSHOW. The original show on Dec 10th, '81, ended during Love Games (so the 10 o' clock news could be broadcast). Then the week after, the complete Love Games and also Wings Of Love was broadcast (unfortunately Henri's tape ran out at the end but the song is still over 6 1/2 minutes long). The band played the percussion break that would later end up in the live version of Are You Hearing..?, and you might also recognize the bass line of another song somewhere in there :-) The missing track for over 17 years, on the LATEST NEWS page on http://Forevernow.com/ Also, I want to thank everyone who has visited the site, signed the guestbook and has emailed me. Forevernow.com has just surpassed the 10000 hits mark (since Jan 8th, '99)! tcoy Carl Mueller webmaster @ forevernow.com ------------------------------ Subject: Re: Level42 Digest V99 #131 From: RPERSAUD12 @ aol.com Date: Wed, 12 May 1999 15:23:34 EDT Just another mention about the Mike Lindup shows. I was not happy with the number that had turned up from the digest. It seems to me that everyone only puts the time and effort in to see Mark King. Mark was not the only member of Level42 and Mike should get the Support that he deserves as he did contribute a lot to the band. To the people who did not make the events. You missed a rare and great night with Mike Lindup and events like these do not happen that often. Regards Raymond ------------------------------ Subject: Re: Level42 Digest V99 #131 From: Savagerush @ aol.com Date: Wed, 12 May 1999 16:25:33 EDT Nothing big...but I just can't help myself. "Hot Pursuit" is on HBO2, at least it was this Wednesday on the east coast U.S.. It's a surprising rush when Lessons in Love starts to fade in as the film ends. In the credits at the verrrry end it seems like they wrote a novel about the use of the song the credit was so big (sorry, couldn't read it all, but mostly just the usual) I know this is basically useless info, but hey, at least I'm not ganging up on someone. (just want to see what that does...) Greg ------------------------------ Subject: ANNOUNCEMENT - MIKE LINDUP From: Bilal42 @ aol.com Date: Wed, 12 May 1999 19:23:07 EDT Dear all As many of you know, I have been planning a definitive Mike Lindup www site for some time now. Many of you from the digest community have come forward with ideas and offers to help - thank you. I'd like the digest community to be in the loop from the beginning, 1000 minds are better than one! Now is the time for you to forward any ideas you have. The first issue I need the digest's help on is what to call the site. Please vote for one of the following: www.mikelindup.com or www.mike-lindup.com I've not been able to get any response from Mike himself on the site issue; I dont even know if my proposal got through to him. Suffice to say that the site wont carry anything he wouldnt want it to. If anyone here is in communication with Mike, please contact me. I dont necessarily need to talk to him myself, but it would be preferable for the site to be in alignment with Mike's own wishes. Does he have a representative or management co. by any chance? Thank you Bilal ------------------------------ Subject: Mike Lindup From: "" Date: Thu, 13 May 1999 01:07:34 PDT I keep remembering bits and bobs from the concert last thursday night. At the end, mike said to gavin that he was really grateful for the fact that the fans had stayed so loyal and patient, even though they had had nothing new for 4 - 5 years........that seemed to really have an impact on Mike i think. Mike also said that there could be some more gigs when his piano album is released. someone asked him afterwards if his album would say level 42's mike lindup, or just mike lindup.... mike said he would prefer just mike lindup, but that he would have to sit down with his publicist and discuss that. i don't think he minds too much either way though. his album, like mark's, will sell to a niche market...that's us, the diehards, although with the right marketing who know's how much promo it will get.... must go dean.
