Vivient Gill ------------------------------ Subject: Flood warning From: L.F.Green @ shu.ac.uk (Laurence F. GREEN) Organization: Sheffield Hallam University Date: Sat, 1 May 1999 12:59:08 -0000 Can I just say something I should have said a long time ago. The support band for the manchester university gig on the One Man tour were superb if I remember correctly they were called Flood and from their appearence I was expecting a load of noisy rubbish but they actually performed some quite well crafted songs - just though I should say that. LOZ ------------------------------ Subject: open letter to an ailing robber From: Bill Burnett Date: Sat, 1 May 1999 13:23:12 +0100 Dear Mr. Rob Ayling. Thank you for offering to give your side of the argument, perhaps one day we shall be privileged enough to hear it. In the meantime we shall have to make do with that childish, self-important rant from a man clearly delighted with the self imposed ivory tower of his own worthy cause. I am a musician, struggling to make a living making uncommercial music, signed to a tiny label who, like you, care for their artists, and try to put out music no-one else would touch, good on you both. But these are the choices we make. I expect neither sympathy nor preferential treatment from anyone, just because the path I've chosen is a financial struggle. I do not profess to know the difficulties of running an independent record label. But I doubt you know much of the difficulties inherent in Mr Loundy's career choice either, so why comment on it from a position of such pious indignation. Your letter offers little in the way of explanation or apology for the myriad mistakes and mis-handling of this whole sorry episode. If we have seen a one-sided version of the story (and I am more than willing to accept that this may have been the case, and was looking forward to hearing yours), you have done nothing to redress this. Instead you resort to insults, and personal attacks, not only on your customers, but by way of an open letter, upon all of us, who may well have had no problem with your company until now, and would have been perfectly happy to trade with you. If Voiceprint does indeed go down the pan (and I utterly concur, that it would be a great shame) you, as the head, with apparently no concept of customer relations, will only have yourself to blame. Bill. P.S. >I am NOT >anti censorship. I'm sorry Jakko, but with all the talk of typos, this was just to ironic to pass on. ======================================================================== Bill Burnett http://www.sphere3.demon.co.uk/ ======================================================================== ------------------------------ Subject: The White Funky CD From: "Rob C" Date: Sat, 01 May 1999 05:28:27 PDT All: For those avid ebay traders, the White Funky CD recently went for an astounding ridiculous final sale of: $100!?!?!?! This is absurd! I gave up bidding on this item when the stakes became insane. What do you digesters think of this? And is anyone willing to burn a copy of this CD for me for a trade? Let the digest know your thoughts about the sale, and email me privately about a CD burn. Thanks again, Rob ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Subject: What's with this bashing? From: "Byron Wong" Date: Sat, 01 May 1999 05:44:58 PDT Hi digesters, What's with this bashing of band member(s)? I do realize that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and that's fine. If someone all of a sudden starts making very negative comments about the band or it's member(s), they don't sound like a "loyal" fan to me. A "loyal" or "diehard" fan wouldn't or shouldn't have anything bad to say. That's just my opinion of course. Hi there ! Was that a private video, or is it available publicly ? If so would you tell us the name, and where to get it. No, Paul you're absolutely right! People aren't half strange (I don't even know what that means...) but perhaps it's the fact that we (read ME) write letters to A LOT OF PEOPLE and don't have the time to snip that bit off every time we ( I ) write something to the Digest. Oh well, nuff said about that! I'm off to work and I have to stop listen to Influences. Yesterday I sat on the bus, listening to Pictures on The Wall on my walkman and suddenly I heard what he was singing! When I first bought the album, I thought he was singing: Pigs in space, watching me..., which I thought was very funny, but a bit strange, BUT NOW I could hear that he sings: This years face, watching me!! Weird, huh? BTW, The Essential is such a brilliant song!!! From: Paul Theriault Date: Sat, 1 May 1999 11:32:21 -0700 (PDT) Hey All, This is bassjones saying that we should just be thankful that Level 42 existed and don't worry about their personal lives. I for one have gained a level ( pun intended ) of musical ability I credit to many years of listening to their music. So just go put on Micro-kid live and "enjoy it!" 'cause baby it just don't get better than that. Take Care, Paul Theriault aka Bassjones _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I have heard next to nothing about this alblum but I really like Lindup's work and vocals. Is it any good? I heard tales of him having a nervous breakdown etc but he's in my top 5 of fave drummers and would rather know the truth rather than rumours :) Also, what other albums did he work on after RITF? And is Forever now any good? I'm still trying to find a copy over here in Australia. Being a drummer myself it's always great listening to Phil play, he's so fluid and tasteful in all facets of his playing! BTW Physical Presence kicks Cheers Cameron ------------------------------ Subject: Fait of Boon Accomli From: Vivient Gill Date: Sat, 01 May 1999 22:16:41 -0400 Level Headz across this earth & possibly the universe Well well well It seems that we can't evan pat anyone on the back any more.. So much negativity from music lovers really sucks, let me see, don't think I've ever heard of you yet you have the ordassity to slag of some one who's toiled through all the bullshit of producing a dream a dream that has in our eye's become part of our lives. Someone out there lives a giant boring lie, has no idea & needs to get a life. Now that I've got that off my chest & yes you've guest it a 42 incher I might conclude. Boon we love ya mate your one of the best, Level Best I mean. As for Fait Accompli, such a cool video, to me it shows the sincerity of level 42 breakin into new turff. Jon Moffitt your right about what you said the other day on Fait Accompli wondered what you think of " Over There" Mark has some pretty wild humor in this video.... diarrhea or constipation make your mind up? If the punctuation police are out there I'm sure you'll have fun with my production, yes quite honestly we miss you professor AG.
