ALBERT42 ------------------------------ Subject: Unspeakable level business From: "Laurence Green" Date: Sat, 24 Apr 1999 12:28:21 +0100 I just got home to several email asking me if Word Machine 3 is available. In reply to this and as a message to the almost 200 satisfied readers I would like to hopefully take this opportunity to say that yes, it is available now. I have had an excellent response from band members so why not find out why. (I shall not post on the subject again - so if in doubt make sure you save this digest) Point your browser at www.level42.com/fanzine for info. I am so looking forward to Mikes gig only a few days to go now!! Yours.............LOZ -------------------------------------------- 'Word Machine' the Level 42 fanzine. Current issue. Or is it 'C'? MK often tunes his bass down to low D, as on "Kansas City Milkman, "The Chant has begun". He also use the 5-string on SAY and "If You Were Mine". On "World Machine", I think he use an octave pedal, which is a very cool effect often used by Pino Palladino. peace Tom ------------------------------ Subject: Digesters links From: "MARK BEARDSLEY" Date: Sat, 24 Apr 1999 13:03:13 +0100 Hi everyone I am currently compiling a list of people with lev 42 ,MK ,related material to to put a link page on my own home page.If anyone would like to be included on this and would allso include ours on theres please e mail me.Great news that mark is doing london dates seems so long to wait but hey I am a true believer.Well up for it , five nights , be there or be square. I am pretty certain that what I've listed below has not been released - almost certainly not through the Digest - Ronnie Scott's Birmingham Monday 15th November to Wednesday 17th November 10.30 pm start (no support) Thursday 18th November to Sunday 21st November 10.45 pm start (with support) Ticket price is £19.50 Telephone no. to book 0121 6434525 Tickets, from what I have been told, have not been selling fast as I guess the dates have only just been released. So, get planning for November. See you for now. Dr. Funk ------------------------------ Subject: MeShell Ndegeocello From: "Lolita K. Jackson" Organization: Morgan Stanley Dean Witter Date: Sat, 24 Apr 1999 11:45:17 -0400 > And while this "slappers" thread is going on, um...was anybody gonna > mention Me'Shell Ndegeocello? She's a bad ass. And sings. And rhymes. > And can manage a band. She is a good performer, but one thing to note is that she cannot play and sing at the same time, or at least is unwilling to during live shows. I went to see her last year, and her show was awesome, but the one thing that was disappointing was that she only played bass on three of the 10 songs because she wouldn't or couldn't play and sing at the same time. She had another bass player playing, who was phenomenal, while she was singing. A few times during the show he was playing rhythm bass while she was doing lead bass and it was unbelievable. The rest of the band was extremely tight as well. I have all her stuff and think she's great, but I had to clear that up - I wouldn't consider her a singing bass player per se, as she seems to compartmentalize and treat them separately. Walton" Date: Sat, 24 Apr 1999 14:24:40 -0400 >>Most of the import stuff came from The Beat on H Street (which has since relocated somewhere midtown).>> J Street, near 20th. If they don't have it, they can generally order it. Dimples on Arden Way is less consistent but overall has a good selection. --Robin (also a Sacramento-dweller) ------------------------------ Subject: Laser LED's From: DonZipf @ aol.com Date: Sat, 24 Apr 1999 18:04:45 EDT I was reading the "custom options" page at Alembic.com, and came across this tidbit of MK trivia... > Ok, here’s something for the true showman. Laser LEDs aren’t really > lasers, but they sure feel like them at one thousand times brighter than > our regular side LEDs. They are actually large 1/4” diameter aluminum > gallium arsenide LEDs that are about 2 candlepower each. Laser LEDs come with an on/off switch near the output jack. Peace - Z. ------------------------------ Subject: Lessons in Love at end of movie. From: ALBERT42 @ aol.com Date: Sat, 24 Apr 1999 20:56:24 EDT Hello once again, I had just come in off the deck after slapping some burgers on the grill and I heard something rather familiar coming from the television. "Lessons" was being played at the end of some movie. This couple was on a yacht kissing and the song started playing then it faded to black and the credits started rolling. The song played through the entire credits and nearly all of it was played. Does anyone have any idea which movie it might have been?
