Well, here we are, a brand new year and a brand new start. I for one am looking forward to this one as it's been nearly five years without the prospect of a decent live gig to go to and Mark's upcoming tour gets me very excited. I finally downloaded to 'indian' tracks from lalala live and if anyone hasn't heard them I suggest you log on and download them and the media player. - they are fantastic. My only criticism is that they are slightly short and I would like to hear the whole lot as a whole performance but that's the perfectionist in me talking. To all those out there who are looking for the Greatest hits and more you can find this and the German master series CD's at Music Boulevard at: www.musicblvd.com All the prices are in dollars and the relevant exchange rates will apply. They are also getting the Night of the Proms CD in also so look out for that one. In response to my "How many level 42 fans does it take to change a lightbulb?" I had quite a few replies and here are the winners of the Pamels CD's from Guitarist magazine. "How many Level 42 fans does it take to change a light bulb?............." As of 12/23/98, it takes 945. It only took one back in '93, but over the years many Level 42 fans have joined the effort, the only requirement for participation being that you must publicly admit you like Level 42, even to record store clerks. This past year they finally got the new bulb in, but some felt that it wasn't as bright as it used to be and decided they were better off just sitting in the dark. Chris Staunton "How many Level 42 fans does it take to change a light bulb?............." ANSWER: Only ONE!! Loz Green! He'll talk about the experience, get halfway through, but if you want the end you'll have to spend a couple quid on "Word Machine" to see if it works!! (HA HA HA HA!! -- Just kidding LOZ!!, your work is always well received.) Sean Green "How many Level 42 fans does it take to change a light bulb....?" "Three. One to TAKE A LOOK, one to make the necesssary CHANGES and one to TURN IT ON." Steve Whyte So, you three witty guys - mail me with your addresses and I will get your CD's out to you in the very near future. Also to Steve - I would definitely be interested in your Jakko12" so let me know which ones you have and we'll come to a deal about the biog. Morgan is putting some new Level 42 pictures on the Level 42 home page that I have in my collection so if anyone wants to see them then go to www.Level42.com - I hope you like them and there are more on the way. I've also got some on the Mark King homepage if you want to go there and 'Take a look' """" Anyway - I hope you've all got over your hangovers and have a great new year y'all All the best Lisa 'Mrs Pink' PS - I know this isn't Level 42 related but does anyone out there know where I can get a CD Rom version of the game 'Battlechess' ? - I have been looking for it for ages but so far have had no luck Cheers - Lisa ------------------------------ Subject: Ignore From: EMIKATIE @ aol.com Date: Fri, 1 Jan 1999 08:25:07 EST Let's not be duped by Mr. P. Ignore him. He tossed out his trash and he is now tuning in every day to read the fallout. Good timing on his part, right around the holidays. He WANTS us all to write rebuttals to his garbage and he tunes in every day to get his chuckle - at our expense. We are doing what he wants. Lets not give him any satisfaction. If we never write about him again, we will be bothering him the most. Who knows, he may lose interest and go away. Remember, to continue the Joe P. thread, is to give him what he wants. My condolences to Lolita. You didn't deserve any of that. Time will heal. However, why don't you try to give me a return address that is a working one?!? Not too cool to address all these situations, and then not allow a return comment. I will NOT post what you said to me on the digest, but would like to send you my reply. Sincerely, ~Sean ************************************************ ------------------------------ Subject: TGSD '99 From: "Richard Maybury" Date: Fri, 01 Jan 99 19:16:18 PST In January's Edition of "Record Mart & Buyer" there appears an article on the new album "The Very Best Of Level 42". The article reads as follows : "Polydor have announced the release of 'The Very Best Of Level 42'. Level 42 enjoyed masive success in the late 80s and early 90s with huge record sales and were consistently one of the era's biggest live draws. The band has 15 top 30 singles including seven that made the top 10 in the late 80s and early 90s, plus 12 chart albums that made the top 10. They were known as Brit Funk but grew beyond that genre and crossed over into mass markets with consecutive sold out dates at Wembley Arena plus a 10-date residence at the Hammersmith Odeon. Level 42 were very much involved in the remix area before it became the phenomenon it is today. Appropriately this best of album includes a remix version of the 'Sun Goes Down (Living It Up)' featuring Omar (which was due for release in October - but will probably not have a commercial release until 1999). All tracks have been remastered by the same team responsible for 'The Who' and 'Abba' remasters. To bring the story completely up to date the album contains two tracks from their BMG career : Forever Now and Guaranteed. " Interesting stuff eh ? Speaking of TGSD '98 I was amazed to find a copy of the 4 track promo CD in a local record store for 99p!!!!!!!!!! I also have a spare copy of Mark King's "Bitter Moon" CD single if someone would like to swap it for something interesting ? Here's (hopefully) to a very good 1999 in terms of L42 releases and mark King's mini UK tour. From: "Dan Nesselroth" Date: Fri, 01 Jan 1999 12:04:47 PST I have always loved Wally Badarou, and his influences upon L42 music...you can hear the producer in the music, and I dont just mean his singing! I recall seeing a video from a Badarou solo album on television once.....can anyone tell me the name of the album and if it is still on the market? Interesting Badarou fact: he played synth on the remixes of TALKING HEAD'S "Blind"..... I would offer more factoids, if I knew any! ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Subject: Nik Kershaw & L42 From: Brian Date: Fri, 01 Jan 1999 20:55:02 -0600 I found this in a Nik Kershaw bio on the web: Favourtie Groups : Thompson Twins, Police, Level 42, The Eurythmics Brian.
