I agree, it was one of thier better produced CD's. In past digests we have discussed the rough sound of the Staring At The Sun album. I still feel, out of my collection of nearly 1800 cd's, that Staring At The Sun at times sounds like an old cassette no matter how much I confugure my equalizer. I eagerly await the Polydor "Remastered" version and pray for an improvement........Each CD is only as good as the original master tape, let's hope that the tapes are in good shape. I finally got my copy of Lindup's "Changes" and think it's great. Now this IS a solo album, more so than Mark's "Influences" ever was due to it's absence of L42 members. Mark's album not only had the L42 members performing, but also co-writing.... The songs may have been chosen and based on Mark's own ideas, but I've always considered it another L42 item based on it's content. The copy of "Changes" I have from Resurgence has a sticker that says "Limited Edition Picture Disc".. It just has the cover image painted on the disc itself.... I thought it would be like many other "picture discs" with an actual photo. And, just how "limited" is this copy? can't be all the ,imited I would guess....... paul F ------------------------------ Subject: HeLp!!! Also, after the concert I waited outside with about 100 others only later to be told that we would have to wait to see the group as there was an after-show part going on - but we wouldnt see Mark because he'd already left! - any comments?............. ------------------------------ Subject: The Kelly Family? From: MByrd42 Date: Sat, 28 Feb 1998 17:26:06 EST Hello to all, both familar and unknown. THE KELLY FAMILY Can of the European subscribers shed any light on a music group known as "The Kelly Family"? I was up late a couple of nights ago and saw this crazy infomercial for "The Kelly Family", being billed as "one of the biggest selling acts in Europe" and a secret that un-hip America hadn't picked up on yet. Well, I admit I never heard of them, and they looked like a cross between Hanson and the Partridge Family on Crack. But I'm an un-hip American, so what do I know? Can any of our European friends help me on this one? Thanks, We're only human, after all... Just got back from Andre's place where the second Lowlands Levelfest was held. Man! That was just brilliant! Makes you realize we're all really into something good here! We watched A LOT of video material - in fact, that's all we did for 12 straight hours! Except for a short but smashing performance by Erik and Arjan. Well, just wanted to thank everyone for a great time (Walter, Arjan, Maarten, Henri, Erik, Ernst-Jan, Dirk, Frans, Dick and last but definately not least ANDRE for organizing the whole shabang and for driving me to the train station. :-) see y'all again next year! (and in May) later **** ** The Mighty Maomoondog mm95 @ worldonline.nl ------------------------------ Subject: Digest pin update. From: DonZipf Date: Sat, 28 Feb 1998 18:27:26 EST Just wanted to post a brief note to update you all on the pin project. Response from the subscribership has been pretty good, but not overwhelming. Basically, this means that, to pay for the manufacturing, we'll have to ask everyone to buy at least two. Of course, the price will be quite reasonable, on the order of $10US or so for a couple. I've been debating on whether to ask people to pay up front, or sink my own cash into the venture, knowing I'll probably take a bit of a loss. As response was not as enthusiastic as I'd hoped for, I'm a bit nervous about it. Ultimately, I need fifty of you to commit to spending the ten bucks (maybe a little more for shipping) for your two pins (heck, maybe three - that's a deal!). While those of you who responded were quite excited about the idea, I heard from only 37 of you. See the problem? Keep in mind, these figures are rough and subject to revision. This week, I will be sending the two designs to the company for corrections, final estimates, etc. I'll let you know the results when I get them. If you've not seen the final designs, or simply have no idea what this is all about, please visit the homepage! The designs are at: http://www.worldmachine.com/level42/zipf_pins.html And, please, e-mail me with your thoughts, suggestions, or reactions to the designs, the pricing, or whatever. I'd like to take a final tally on which design you would like to represent us. Thanks. Don Z. Just came back from the Lowlandslevelfest, and it was great ! I'd like to use this forum to say a big, big, big thank you to Andre, who organized all this. I enjoyed the other folks, and all the material I saw for the first time. Also thank you Arjen for playing (you play really well!) and driving, Dirk for the great disks (I love Enschede) and Henri for the screensaver. I think about going to London. best....
