From: ejacks3 @ lsumc.edu (Jackson, Elizabeth J) Organization: NUCLEAR MEDICINE Date: Mon, 23 Feb 1998 08:14:17 -0800 Hi fellow Levelheads!! At the 3rd music store, I was able to order 2 L42 Cd's. i anxiously await the arrival of World Machine and Level Best. Thanks to the discussion group, I looked at how the songs were listed on World Machine and saw that "Something About You" was about the fourth song down. I can't wait to get them. Then I will not be a "baby" level head anymore and I can discuss what I like about other songs besides "Something About You" I haven't heard Something About You in so long. I just know I love that song. My music interests encompass a wide range. Recently I have been playing Derek and the Dominos on my way to work. Also I like an obscure group from the 70's called Mountain. They had one big hit called "Mississippi Queen" Gee, I haven't had my coffee yet--I think I didn't spell that correctly. I like Barry Mannilow--Hey, don't laugh--he really puts on a good concert! I like some country and western music, big band. I don't really listen to too much modern rock and roll. Not in to head bnging music. It must be my age. I like the old stuff. Carly Simon, Culture Club. Anyway, Ya'll have a good day. Please note, perhaps some of you have wondered about the southern slang: You all. Now you have seen it correctly spelled!! JJ ------------------------------ Subject: WE shopping From: "dirk.vael" Date: 23 Feb 98 17:07:31 Went shopping, checked for eventual L42 goodies, but saw nothing, except for Guaranteed and Forever Now (RCA), mint condition, first hand, US$9.50 each. 2 copies each. Also saw Early Tapes at regular US$13.50. For the rest I found some really cool groovy house 12"es I sought over 6 years now... yieeehaaa! (sorry, off topic :-) ready for LLLF II - get that camera warmed-up! BTW, I had put the L42 pix for the CDROM from Mark's site on a CD, so I didn't really lose them during my HD crash... yippie! I wrote to mention how much I enjoy AYGB and P&P--there are songs on these CD's that I might never have heard otherwise. Thanks to all who created such wonderful compilations of my all time favorite band! A little bio: I am living with my wife and two little girls (2.5 and 8 months--both as sweet and darling as can be!!) in Southern Cal--Orange County. We moved down here about three years ago when my office was moved from San Francisco. I work for a management consulting firm, Hewitt Associates and love what I do. I am currently getting geared up to start an executive MBA program-- where I will find the time, I can only guess (I have a feeling that my bed and I will not be seeing much of each other any more One song that I hear very little about on the digest, that I absolutly love, is Kansas City Milkman. Does anyone else out there enjoy this song? My musical talents rest in the following: I can sing (fairly well I am told) I can read music I used to play the clarinet My mom tried to teach me the piano And my sister plays the guitar really well (if only one of these last two talents could have somehow stuck with me...) Oh, and of course, I have great musical taste (L42 SF 1986) What encouraged me to send a note this time was a note from Loz (I feel like I know so many of you after reading the digest for about two years now) about long cd boxes. I bought three of L42s CDs in "long boxes"--Staring at the Sun, Running in The Family, and Level Best. I haven't seen many long box cds for sale in quite some time. I appreciate this forum and everyone's opinions, ideas, and suggestions about the music of L42 and others--please continue because I am sure that there are many of us on the digest who feel the same way but who do not have the depth of music knowledge as some of the others on the digest.
