It was printed with "21 September 1984. Veronica's Rocknight". This was a show like the Rockpalast gig, only somewhat shorter, some weeks earlier. It was broadcast by the Dutch TV station Veronica. I have it on VCR, but it is a copy of a copy of a copy etc., and in mono, so the quality is quite poor. I believe we, Dutch Level fans, should write, fax, e-mail and call Veronica to rebroadcast this show. I think it's certainly worth it. Together with the 2nd WDR Rockpalast, this makes three live shows of Level 42 in 1984. Quite a collection. Who wants to help persuade Veronica to rebroadcast this show? To Dirk, if you want a copy of the Rockpalast show, contact me. I taped it on SVHS, so a copy of that tape is best you can get. That's almost as good as the translated English directions in cheap tools/appliances from China, as well as the safety instructions on cheap fireworks. >I sent a request to you guys asking lyrics to two songs and I got no >response from anyone!!! I will send a second message in hopes of salvaging >my opinion of you supposed "Levelheads". (I'm really not that mad, I'm just >trying to get your attention!) Whoa, cool down, chief! The Something About You chant was debated over and over a few times, the different opinions can be found by searching the digest archives at: http://www.worldmachine.com/level42 You should be able to find Heaven In My Hands lyrics that way, too. ____________________ PFPD -- newmedia marketing consulting a limited liability company PO Box 281, Granger, IN 46530-0281 v:616.663.2250 -- competitive business advantages through creative technology ------------------------------ Subject: Re: Level42 Digest V98 #32 From: JazPhreek @ aol.com Date: Tue, 10 Feb 1998 13:37:00 -0500 (EST) Just wanted to share some news about a concert venue I just attended the other night. I had the pleasure of seeing Candy Dulfer and Jonathan Butler. Unfortunately, I missed Joyce Cooling. I gotta tell ya, Candy is amazing and her band is phenomenal. I mean, anytime you can get the snooty crowds out of their seats and dancing, you've got skills. She and her band mostly covered songs from her most recent CD and she did a couple of old jams, "Pass the Peas" and "Pick up the Pieces." Let me tell you, that was an awesome performance! She had Jonathan Butler come on and jam with her band which resulted in some kickass guitar duels between him and Ulco Bed (Candy's guitarist). Jonathan is baaaaad. Then she had Jonathan's saxophonist Mindy Abair (another SUPER-FINE woman with talent) and they traded licks on stage. Now that certainly gives new meaning to guhl-powa, 'cause Candy and Mindy were tearing it up. As for Jonathan and his band, he had Larry Kimpel on bass, Brian Simpson on keys, of course Mindy on Sax and keys, and I forget the others, but they were all great. Now I don't need to tell you all about Jonathan. If any of you are familiar with him and his music, you know very well he can sing beautifully and play that guitar with amazing virtuosity. The man is, for lack of a better term, unbelievable. Fortunately, I been able to see him twice in my lifetime. If the show comes to your city, pawn you car, instrument, or whatever and GO SEE THE SHOW!!! I guarantee you won't regret it. Winston, I got there a little late and missed Joyce Cooling, so I am unable to give you my opinion. By the way, tapes is on its way. Paul ------------------------------ Subject: International Levelfest Attendees From: Lolitaj @ aol.com Date: Tue, 10 Feb 1998 13:48:17 EST I know, I know; I'm a day late. Sue me ;-). Lolita ------------------------------ Subject: wow! more stuff on vibe! From: TSNPUB @ aol.com Date: Tue, 10 Feb 1998 18:26:12 EST I'm astounded at the response that I got after posting information about The Vibe. As some of you know they are a funk/r&b band out of Newark who just recently won the Budweiser Battle of the Bands and have released their first CD. They sound like a mix of Level 42, AWB and Jamiroquai with some hip-hop thrown for flavor. Anyway, when I posted this info I had NO IDEA the response would be so huge. There must be a demand for the funk! Well, I tried e-mailing the first few of you direct, but instead of e-mailing all of rest of you personally (to save time) here's the info: The Vibe's schedule: Sat., Feb 14 - Doc Watson's, Phila., PA Sat., Feb 28 - Deer Park Tavern, Newark, DE Sat., Mar 7 - Jocelyn's, Media, PA Thurs., Mar 12 - East End Cafe, Newark , DE Thurs. Mar 26 - Kenny's Castaways, New York City Sat. Mar. 28 - Deer Park Tavern, Newark, DE As for inquiries for the band's CD, "Brand New Science" it is available for $10 with a $3 S&H fee by sending a check to: Brand New Science 1718 W. 13th Street Wilmington, DE 19806 (Please make checks out to the band bass-player/co-manager, FRANK MAY) *Also keep in mind for that because of the band's local popularity and promotional purposes there are a limited number of CDs available. Orders will be taken on a first come/first served basis. This offer is only good for members of the World Machine digest. ...And like I said before, these guys are hot. I think anyone who enjoys LEVEL 42 will really get a kick out of these guys! If you see a show or if you have any other questions regarding this, e-mail me direct and let me know. Peace, Jim ------------------------------ Subject: My Father's Shoes From: HnSolo1998 @ aol.com Date: Tue, 10 Feb 1998 18:47:18 EST I would like to get your interpretations as to the meaning of the song "My Father's Shoes". I would greatly appreciate it. ------------------------------ Subject: Pursuit of a compact disc From: "Greg Jamate" Date: Wed, 11 Feb 1998 01:56:17 -0500 Hello levelheads, long time no post from me. With all these reviews about the Rockpalast shows, it makes me wish I was over there receiving West Deutsche Rundfunk. >Saturday eve, 2:30 AM... WDR3... Rockpalast is busy... still > a few minutes before the boys climb on stage... > >Zjjiiiinngggg!!! No more cable TV !!!!!!!! AAARGHH!! Dirk, my condolences. Having your cable cut at the very worst moment has got to be deflating (did you kick a wall?). I think your cable company deserves to send you free cable for the next six months. That is the least they could do for cutting, especially before a Level 42 show. Does anyone know where to get a legal recording of Pursuit of Accidents on CD, without having to order over the internet? I have been checking the New York area stores. Level Best, Live at Wembley and RITF are often stocked. None of the older recordings on CD (Level 42, Early Tapes, P of A) seem to be available. Paul..... non Level 42 related. I was also saddened about Falco's death. Although I usually don't care much for pop, this guy's music never failed to make a strong impression on me. His music lives on.... bye for now, Greg Jamate greg @ net2001.com
