Nightfly83 ------------------------------ Subject: Answers and Stuff From: "alan russell" Date: Fri, 27 Nov 1998 04:05:05 PST Thought I'd drop back in with some answers ...... >Does anyone know where the shepherd's Bush Empire is ? >There is also an undergroundstation with the name Shepherd's Bush Central. Well the nearest tube station to the Empire should indeed be Shepherd's Bush (it's five minutes walk away around the corner). Mark I discovered today through his website, is also playing a date at Croydon's Fairfield Halls (28th Jan - got my tickets today), there are still as I write (27/11) tickets available for this date. Got Mark's new album the other day and although I expected it to be quite different, I have to admit to being a little disappointed (does anyone else feel this way ??). However I've only heard it the once so far (nice to see Boon collaborating on a number of tracks), and am sure I will grow to like it a lot more after a few plays. It's certainly not as good as his first solo album - which reminds me - I must go back and dig out Mike's solo effort from a few years back. To answer Cliff now - the Indian version of "It's Over" is on one of the websites as a realaudio file (does anyone have an MP3 version of it or any other obscure stuff ??). The quality isn;t great and it starts with an indian instrumental build up (emulating the dreamy keyboard sequence from the brilliant remix of the track), before working into an excellent vocal performance from Mark, over minimal backing. This led me to think ... if only Mark would do an MTV unplugged type album of the L42 tracks - I think it would be a brilliant album. If only we could get him interested !! (or at least get a live recording as I'm sure it would be similar). Enough from me - but lastly - how come Mark seems to be so popular/prominent in Holland at the moment ? - I haven't seen any publicity in the UK for the album. -- Alan Russell ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Subject: Level42 Belgium From: "Inge Van Zummeren" Date: Fri, 27 Nov 1998 13:34:45 +0100 Hello Level lovers, Does anybody know when MK is coming to Belgium?? I would really like to see MK again!! I've seen him perform for the first time in my life at The Night Of The Proms, and is was soooooo goooood.... If there is also anybody from Belgium who would like to go with me, than i would apreciate it because my boyfriend isn't really into Level 42. He says it's better for me to go with somebody who likes L42 too, because otherwise i couldn't enjoy it as much as i should!!!!( nice boyfriend , isn't he??) So, keep me up to date. I would also like to know if there is a place I can find the Mike Lindup CD singles!! I would trade someone something if they had an extra copy!! Here is my list again. Bill Kody ------------------------------ Subject: Fuse From: BHConrad @ aol.com Date: Fri, 27 Nov 1998 12:56:22 EST I picked up a new music newspaper at Guitar Center called 'FUSE', which I highly recommend. They are obviously hip, because in a 'news' section, they mention Mark King, Mike Lindup, Level 42, Gary Moore, and Eric Johnson (some of my favorite artists, obviously). This is from issue #3. Just a small blurb, with nothing we don't already know (One Man, reissues, etc), but some interesting articles as well - www.fusemag.com also, I've decided to accept a job in Oklahoma, which means I'll be leaving the comfy confines of Boston, MA; to become the OK City Milkman! Loz Green IS Allwyn Kelly. We're all bit part players in The Three Faces of Laura. Be afraid, be very afraid. Incidentally, I am going to the Shepherd's Bush show and if anybody would like to meet me before or afterwards for a drink - what the hell's wrong with you? AG
