I recall lyrics on the web for One Man, but what about the old stuff? I need some lyrics for the Britfest, since I am singing all the Mike Lindup parts for the jam session. Can anybody point me to the right site? We are attempting to perform 16 songs, so I need a site that has a lot of lyrics from all eras. Thanxalot in advance. Please e-mail me privately with the answer so as to not clog the digest - plus I need to know in the next day or so. Lolita ------------------------------ Subject: Lalala Live From: Tjeerd van Linge Date: Sat, 21 Nov 1998 23:42:32 +0100 Hello to ya all, Here is a quick review of the dutch tv show called Lalala Live. Mark King was the special quest tonight. I was a bit sceptic about it, why? well because the tv guide said, he is going to do a child's song and all that sort of crap. But the show began good, he did Bitter Moon live, only him and the rest of the members of the band where all from Lalala live. He did it great, now i really wanna get to a gig here in holland when he is going to play here. Than he played three songs, short versions in Indian style, loved it. The songs where It's over, Lessons in love and Hot water. Great!! Than Bart Peters asked Mark if he had a "hero" in the scene, and he said i loved to play with Toets Thielemans. and yes he did a song with Toets. The song was from Todd Rundgren. The song they played was Hello, it's me. Great one. Than he did another song, this one is from Cream, Sunshine of your love. And after this one they did a last one from Elvis Costello, Oliver's army. So in 40 minutes he did some wonderfull stuff, especially the three songs in Indian style, great to listen at. But for all you non Netherlands or Belgium people, i work on sunday at my computer and vcr to put all those songs into real media clips, and put it on my website!!! So on monday you can all download them from it, so just one more night of sleep and than behind the comp to hear them all! Take care and hope you all uk people have fun at the gigs Mark is going to perform at in the near future in the UK. I have to wait for the rest of the tour here in Europe. I heard about Kenny Kirkland's passing on the Marcus Miller web site from a discussion board where Marcus answers questions from fans. I was shocked when I heard the news. Kenny had a heroin habit unfortunately which took it's toll on him, but the cause of death was a heart attack. He was an amazing pianist for those of you who heard him on Sting and Marsalias' records. I posted a response for Marcus and he told me that he and Kenny worked together back in the day and he learned a lot from him about chord progressions. Drugs aren't the way to solve problems. The funeral was this past Tuesday. He will be greatly missed. "Living it up...I can feel it" ------------------------------ Subject: Seal, Audiophile Imports and Kenny Kirkland From: "julie fleury" Date: Sat, 21 Nov 1998 18:15:39 CST Hi everyone, My name is Julie and I'm from New Orleans. I've been a digest member for a while, but never had the urge to post before now (kind of like a reformed voyeur!). Re: Seal -Human Beings Thanks for the review, Duke. Glad someone else is also interested in Seal's music. I just picked up the album, but haven't had a chance to listen to it yet. I'll let you know what I think. Re: Mike Lindup -Changes Okay gang. Will someone please tell me WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH AUDIOPHILE IMPORTS.COM? I ordered 2 copies of Mike Lindup's album Changes on Nov. 3rd. It is now the 21st and I haven't received it yet? I've heard you guys talk about receiving your stuff within a week. Am I in the middle of a horror story or are they just as slow as molasses? Maybe I'll get it for Christmas, if I'm lucky! Re: Kenny Kirkland's death I'm was so shocked to hear about Kenny Kirkland's death from Nightfly83. The world will be a much sadder place because of it. If you've never heard his music before, check it out. This jazz pianist was much accomplished and will be sorely missed. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Subject: Only Memories... I was against attending the ceremony as my weekends are still taken up by lectures (Masters), so I needed the time off. But, little sis heard that the ceremony was on, and at the last moment we arranged for tickets & went along to the Royal Concert Hall for the ceremony... This was the very last place I saw Level42 perform live on the fairwell tour of 1994! (10 or so years before that we saw Level42 at Rock City round the corner from there). By coincidence, waiting for my bit on stage, I was seated in the exact same place as I was when we saw that last show. That made it quite special; a buddy who was with me that day will be joining us to see Mark at Leicester... I have fond memories of Kenny when he toured Australia with Sting. He was surely a brilliant pianist. I asked a question some time ago with no results and I thought I'd give It another go. as i think its interesting....... The very cool ad lib words (chi cha) appear in 4 songs and I am wondering if any other digesters can tell me what the songs are........ I need to give a clue........or an idea of what i am talking about..........Go 54 seconds into Children Say and you will hear a chi cha...... What are the other 3 songs... And if there are more than 4 songs with it in let me know........... Hows the (old) memory........... EMIKATIE..... :-) And to Aussie members...........How about us getting together for a OZ LEVEL FEST in Febuary.
