I have no idea how to get in touch with Gary's band, or with Mark, so if anyone wants to inquire about those things, they should do so. I just don't think we should wait to make our plans until that happens, because we could be waiting a long time. I think we should solidify what we want to do and then ask them if they are available, not vice versa. Too many people have to come from very far away to make it a spur of the moment thing. Plus, Levelfests are what you make them, as many of us can attest. At any rate, here's the deal. The dates we seem to be settling on are Friday, May 22nd to Monday May 25th. Saturday the 23rd would be the Isle of Wight portion. For those of you from the States, I have contacted my travel agent, and she said that Virgin and American often have good hotel/airfare combos. Also, it is much cheaper to leave on a Thursday night than a Friday, so she is looking into Thursday night - Monday packages. I should get a price from her soon. We can only get the deal if we have seven people, however. I can count three definites already, so anyone else in the Eastern/Midwestern areas, speak up if you are going. Actually, anyone who plans on attending, no matter where you are, please e- mail me directly so I can get a headcount. I'm assuming we'll get around 25 people, but I have no idea. Please do this by next Monday, and I'll compile the actual list and post it Tuesday morning. You guys in Amsterdam better come, and I know all you Brits will be there as well! From: Lolitaj @ aol.com Date: Wed, 4 Feb 1998 10:42:54 EST This just in from my travel agent: she has done some research and come up with the following. There is a package deal using Virgin leaving on three possible flights out of the NY area on Thursday the 21st, returning Monday night the 25th, including 4 days and 3 nights at the Crofton Hotel in Kensington, near Hyde Park on Queen's Gate Road, all for $672. This includes breakfast every day, taxes and transfer fees. That is quite a bargain for May. Cancellation insurance is an extra $49. I know I'm not going to find a better deal, and I'm going whether we have the Levelfest or not, so I booked mine today. Another thing: you can stay longer if you want for not much more - this doesn't preclude that. I'm actually staying until Wednesday the 27th. Anyone who is interested in this deal, contact me and I'll get you my travel agent's info. ------------------------------ Subject: Re: Level42 Digest V98 #28 From: DonZipf @ aol.com Date: Wed, 4 Feb 1998 11:43:05 EST > I was also charged $45 for a copy of the Japanese version of > Forever Now on RCA/BMG. Hmm. My first FN was the Japanese RCA version, and I, too, bought it from Audiophile Imports. I only paid about $25, though. Has the price risen as the disc becomes rarer? I've asked this question and received the answer at least twice before, but have misplaced the information both times. So here goes for the last time, I promise: How can I purchase a copy of Past and Presence? Sorry for clogging up the Digest with this - and it won't happen again (yeah, right) :-) Donovan Shand PS - Has anybody else heard of Chantal Kreviazuk? Sort of a Jann Arden/kinder, gentler Alanis. Canadian, I believe... ------------------------------ Subject: RE: Robin Scott's (aka 'M') Pop Muzik From: Walter.Franken @ frco.com Date: Wed, 4 Feb 1998 14:15:34 +0000 Erik Terheggen wrote: >> turned the tele on and guess what ?!?! I will tape both L42 concerts on the WDR also on SVHS to obtain best quality. I would like to show it to all LLL42 fans, if someone can tell me again when and where this Lowland Level Fest is. I forgot.... If wanted, I could bring my VCR and the SVHS tapes too. Forgot to say that I too have stumbled across this rather attractive piece of vinyl when I was at a London record fair a couple of years ago. The guy on the stall was asking 200 pounds for it!!! I had to pass on it mind as I don't normally carry 200 quid on me but I did get to hold it for about 5 minutes while he gave me his phone number so that I could give him a call when I had the money. When I finally saved up the dosh he had sold it. Talk about being gutted! - can't have it all I suppose!! Anyway, I did manage to pick up a strange little item at the weekend at another London record fair (I think you can tell where I do most of my L42 hunting!). It's a 7" picture disc of the Guaranteed album - yes really! Anyway it's actually an Amnesty International interview disc that dosen't actually feature Level 42 at all. As I said the picture disc is taken from the cover of the Guaranteed album on one side (but does not include Mike as he is out-of- shot) while the other side features the cover of Waking Up The Neighbours by Bryan Adams. I had a word with the guy on the stall who said that bands give their permission for Amnesty to put pictures of their albums on interview discs in support of the charity. Their is no catelog number on the record but their is 'BSAPC 7-1' on the run-off groove. That's all for now..
