I was wondering if anyone else thought that!! I didn't even want to mention it, because I thought it would ruin it for others; you know, one of those, "Dammit!! Now every time I hear that CtG I think of SHA!!" But the song is freaking great, my favorite so far, although I haven't heard all of One Man yet. Isn't it nice to have him back? And, no, I don't hear much of L42 in there, just the part of L42 that was Mark King. -Marc "You're not alone even when you're by yourself" ------------------------------ Subject: Level 42 sample. From: henri.blakenburg @ dut.rws.minvenw.nl Date: Fri, 9 Oct 98 15:54:36 +0200 Hi all, A quicky one: Just saw a cd of "The Bucketheads" called "All in mind" from 1995 with a sample of our boys "Starchild" on it. I don't like it, but thats my opinion. What do we think of other groups sampeling L42's music? And has this done before? Greetings from Holland. Henri. ------------------------------ Subject: vh1 usa From: poap42 @ webtv.net (Antonio Perez) Date: Fri, 9 Oct 1998 10:00:20 -0400 (EDT) Brian had asked for vh1's address since most, if not everybody, had their email returned(including me the first time). Try www.vh1.com/insidevh1/talkto Maybe if they receive a few emails from disgruntled viewers, that might prompt them to reconsider their firm stance. "Too many people, suffer in silence"....... One Man has arrived just in time for studying for my exam next week so I will have played it to death over the weekend. My favourites in reverse order :- In at 5 - Love Wars 4 - Take My Hand 3 - Bittermoon 2 - One Man (excellent track) without question 1 - If I Had Something (I agree - it is like Gresham Blues). Happy listening. Helen ------------------------------ Subject: My jammy friend.. From: clare.reeves @ bbc.co.uk Organization: bbc Date: Fri, 9 Oct 1998 17:34:15 +0100 Dear All.. Firstly, thanks for all your words of congratulations regarding my encounter with Mark! I still haven't quite recovered.. Bass strings - I pop my G string really hard (oh dear.. this sounds v. dodgy!) and it hasn't snapped yet!! Also.. there seems to be yet another BBC bod subscribing to th Digest.. what's going on? My pal Lisa Hack.. also of the BBC and the Digest managed to get her paws on the Sun Goes Down remix promo.. (I'm sure she'll write about it soon!) Thought you might like to see her little communication to me regarding our arrangements for lunch today.. I think it's pretty good... "Are you Ready? (Yeah, Yeah) Are you ready for Lunch? (Yeah Yeah) Have you got Sarnies? (Yeah Yeah) Well get down to floor two then (Yeah Yeah YEAH!!!!) What I do know is that Boon and Phil don't have any say at all. Wether or not they were actually paid off for their share, or wether it was an agreement reached when they left the group I don't know. Only Mark and Mike have a say. Also, I don't know what that means financially. I mean take the new greatest hits album, I'm certain Mark and Mike will profit from it, but I don't know about Phil and Boon. However, I do know that Phil is notified about developments by some source, possibly Polydor. I would'nt go as far as to say that Phil was unhappy with the track selection for the new Greatest Hits, but if he had an input he would have chosen differently, as he doesn't automatically think singles should be included on an album just because they were singles. He sadi to me that tracks like ,'Out Of Sight' and 'I Want Eyes' should definitly have been on there. Level 42 CD'vs go for between 10 and 20 pounds. Common ones such as It's Over and Heaven In my Hands for example would fetch 10 to 12 pounds depending on their condition. Rarer CDv's like Lessons In Love, Leaving Me Now woulg from 18 to 20. There was also a promo CD for the Lessons In Love CDv I believe, although it did not have a video track, that is the only CDv type item that would encourage me to part with over ?20. If anyone is thinking of buying a rare Level 42 item, feel free to mail me with a description and I will advise you on what it is worth to a collecor, what you would pay to get it off a dealer and the long term prospects of it holding its value. I do this regularly over the phone for a few people, it's amazing what deals you can find. Anyone seriously interested in improving their collection of rarities I would strongly advise you to send SAE's to people advertising in Record Collector who say they have lists of Level 42 material, I find about 1 in 5 lists has very reasonable prices, and you might even pick up the odd major rarity (thats how I picked up Love Meeting Love on clear vinyl). ------------------------------------------------------ signature OK just a reminder, ISSUE 2 of the Level 42 fanzine Word Machine is no available. You can see a picture of the cover on the website. www.Level42.com. blah blah blah, it's an excellent read, why should you read it?, well one good reason is that all the original members and some non-original members subscribe, some at their own request! If you want a tatser of issue 1, there part one of the Andy Sojka interview on the web-page too. And the Boon Gould interview will be up there soon (what, thats the first I knew - Morgan (I can just see you saying that)).
