Has anybody actually met the fellas in person? What kind of meeting was it? How were they in reacting to their fans? They seem like amiable chaps. My fantasy would be to meet them and jam a few songs (I am a drummer, but couldn't hold a candle to Phil or Gary...I think I could keep up though). Not likely to happen, so I have to live vicariously through any meetings with others. Any good stories???????????? Bob Mazierski rjmaz @ worldnet.att.net ------------------------------ Subject: G.E. Smith, Hi-Fi VCRs From: Pat Flanagan Date: Sat, 31 Jan 1998 10:51:03 -0600 First, I know I'm a few days behind on this thread (I've been busy), but I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who got completely annoyed whenever G.E. Smith popped up on screen. The guy's a great guitar player, but man, has anyone EVER looked as much like Frankenstein's monster? However, if you really want to see him looking goofy, check out photos of him when he was dating Gilda Radner in the late 70's -- he had a total flat-top buzzcut. :D Anyway, I have a technical VCR question (any replies should probably be private and off the list, unless people are interested in this stuff). For dubbing videotapes, I have a player as my output, and a VCR as my input. My old VCR died, bought a new one. Whenever I taped something on it, though, no one else could hear the sound (it was find when I played the tape). I'm told now that it's due to my VCR being Hi-Fi, which, according to the guy I spoke with, records the sound on a different part of the tape. So, a Hi-Fi tape in a non Hi-Fi VCR would not have any sound on playback. Anyone know anything about this or any way around this? I don't feel like buying another VCR. ____________________ PFPD -- newmedia marketing consulting a limited liability company PO Box 281, Granger, IN 46530-0281 v:616.663.2250 -- competitive business advantages through creative technology ------------------------------ Subject: Re: Long term memory loss From: "LOZ Green" Date: Sat, 31 Jan 1998 16:24:12 -0000 Hi All, Now I have a suggestion. Seeing as the price of everything, especially accomodation is vast in London, why not hold the LevelFest somewhere else? Like the Isle Of Wight? Or just somewhere near London, like reading? It would just be much cheaper and much easier to get together. That is of course, unless there is some logistical genius who can arrange everything really neatly. Also, I say again, I have 4 fan club magazines, a 10 year biography magazine, and 2 early nineties foldout fanclub poster magaziness, I am not lookinng for a great deal in exchange. I am particularly after the US version of Influences on CD. As you have gathered, this post has nothing to do with long term memory loss, or maybe I forgot what I was going to say. Right, thats me done for today. Just to say, that if anyone has any rare mixes, (really rare) then please get in touch in touch with me. I am thinking particualrly of that Razormaid DJ only mix of Something ABout You, or the rumoured Southern American release of Changes as a single, with a slightly different version of changes on it? Anything like that I want. Voiceprint/Resurgence Records contact information is on this page: http://www.voiceprint.co.uk/contactus.htm Drop them a line and find out if they're still selling Mike's CD. This is how I ordered mine a couple of years ago. They also sell Jakko and Boon Gould solo CDs. Hope things are going great for everyone in 1998! And when's that LA Levelfest happening again? John V. still has a few of my CDs left over from the first one! :) (John -- I know you're taking good care of them ... no biggie!) Smith from the SNL band, but I do know that Chris Parker, who was the drummer for many years on that show had some major problems with Smith. When Parker was fired by G.E., there was some serious anger vented by Parker about Smith's integrity in a modern drummer piece done around a year ago. Just food for thought. I wasn't there, so I don't know. Brad in Vegas ------------------------------ Subject: NAMM From: "Allwyn & Laura Kelly" Date: Sun, 1 Feb 1998 00:43:56 -0800 Went today to the NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) in LA. Saw alot of cool stuff but what made my day was seeing Stanley Clarke himself!! ( Sorry had to brag) : ) The bummer was he was'nt playing so I guess it is a half brag. Saw the Wonder man himself. Stevie Wonder. That in itself was cool. I'm done. Thanks Sorry if I hit a sour note about the Dork from SNL ( it is just my opinion) later laura in California
