I've been reading about her in Jazziz mag, and was comtemplating picking up her recent CD. have you heard it? Also, I can hook you up with the Guaranteed Concert, and any Mahavishnu Orchestra you might need. Be warned my Mahavishnu Orchestra collection is old, so its on the original cassettes. There is a Forever Now concert vid, but it's something a fan did with a camcorder, and as you can imagine, the quality is far from pleasing. But, if you are dying to see them do the 'Forever Now' material, you can check it out. Love the Blackbyrds, especially Rock Creek Park! Lauren, good call with 'People', which is a great tune, with a great message. Sometimes it seems Mike can do know wrong. Jaek, drop me a line about the vids as well. Anyway, answers to yesterdays questions: How many albums did Level 42 have left on their deal with Polydor before the out of court settlement? answer 6. Guaranteed being the first, which wasnt accepted by Plydor. Why is is 42? (technically) Well, the name of the group should have been Level 54, a fact which is seldom mentioned in Level 42 circles. In the book hitchhikers guide to the galaxy, near the end, 2 of the main characters are pulling scrabble tiles out of a bag, one gets a 4 and a two, the other a 7 and a two, they add them together to get 6 and nine, then for some reason they multiply them together and get '42' instead of 54? Now this can be seen by anyone who has the programme for the Guaranteed tour, look for the dice, theres the 4 and the two, then theres the 2 and the 7! Didnt you ever wonder why it was a 7? Actually its 6 * 7 which is 42. There are lots of reasons why 6 and 7 are so special, 6 is divisible by 3 numbers (exclusing itself) and by the number 3, wheras 7 is divisibly by 1 number (excluding itself) and the number 1, which is 1 higher than 6. The three and 1 added together are 4, and three minus 1 is 2. There are lots of other things as well, so the key sides of the dice should be, on 1 dice 4 and 3, and on the other, 2 and 4. Anyway, Im sure that doesnt actually clear anything up at all, still. Anyway, an aquantance of mine in the royal marines military band is selling his collection of Level 42 bits and pieces, now Im not sure I can do this but it is an exceptional offer. He selling his entire collection (apart from CD albums) and he wants offers for it, but please, no offers OVER 250 pounds UK sterling, if anyone offers 250 pounds then they get the lot straight on a first come first served basis, but please feel free to make bids. I've ordered tons of stuff from both CD Now - http://www.cdnow.com/ and CD Universe - http://www.cduniverse.com/ CD Now *may* have Mike's CD but I'm not sure. I got mine from Audiophile Imports (I think the # is 1-800-AUDIO-90 but check Synth's Level 42 page, it should have the correct phone number). If you can find it elsewhere, I'd recommend that because although Audiophile has a very good selection, they'll charge for it. I think I paid between $30-$35 for Mike Lindup's CD. Now then, anyone in the Chicago area? I'm most likely going to be there the end of February and would love to get together. Also, any recommendations on Hotels :) Someone (dirkies?) asked yesterday about the Intl Levelfest. It sounds like we've already picked the weekend, but nobody has stood up to organize the ordeal (I'm way too busy myself otherwise I'd happily volunteer). I'm wondering if we should all just start making arrangements to be in London over Memorial weekend...? We had no formal plans for the Vegasfest and yet we managed to fill a weekend with alot of fun and I suspect if we just all go for it, the weekend in England could just come together as well. From: "FRINGE ELEMENT" Date: Thu, 29 Jan 98 14:26:58 PST Hey Heads, Been a while since I last wrote, been involved with school stuff and class projects and crud like that. I am finally (after nearly 4.5 years) going to be getting my A.S. this quarter. Yippee, I have been working my regular job and taking 2 to 3 classes each quarter and never thought I would ever get done. But that really isn't what I wanted to write about.....feeling giddy y'know? I am taking an HTML/Web Page Design class this quarter (an elective) and am designing my own page in BBEdit Lite, I don't want to use something like Claris Home Page, Page Mill, something similar, as I feel like I ought to learn how it all works and maybe later I'll use a home page creator. At any rate, I have been adding links to my link page and yesterday added CDNow, Eric's (our tireless leader) Level 42 page, and Morgan's Level 42 Web Ring. So, I'm feeling even more connected than I did before. If anybody would like to take a look (there's not much to see, admittedly) and maybe drop me a line with comments or suggestions I would be most appreciative. There's nothing on our favorite group yet, I guess I'll try to do that too. URL for those who interested is: www.best.com/~thebigdp Last but not least, I recently bought Parliament's greatest hits for $9.99 and The Doobies 'Cycles', too. I am on the lookout for some stuff by Tower of Power (their horn section is awesome) and also some CDs by George Clinton. I would appreciate if any of y'all had any suggestions for good albums by either of these two or some other similar type bands I would be eternally grateful (ok, I'd like you for a long time!)
