Marcus Bone ------------------------------ Subject: Sorry From: "LOZ Green" Date: Sun, 23 Aug 1998 11:11:04 +0100 Hello, Sorry about this, I'm busy putting Issue 2 together this morning and in a bit of a muddle. I am looking fro someone who is willing to scan me a copy of the Japanese album, 'Urban Fascination'. I am well aware that this is probably a sleeve the same as the UK version of 'Level 42' (with different cat. numbers) with one of those sashes or Obi's. I would appreciate scans of both. The best 5 contributors (from the fan base) get free copies, and as issue 2 will actually 'look' about 80 times better than issue 1, this is well worth the effort. In fact, here's the info of what should be there: Word Machine issue 2 Full 'Level 42' LP discography 'Secrets of the Polydor master tapes' Interview with Andy Sojka part 2 Interview with Phil Gould Interview with Ben Liebrand Level 42 on the internet International Levelfest 98 Bitter Moon review One Man review One Man pre-release promo/demo discography Latest News Now this is a bit much on first sight, I may have to add 4 more pages (thats 1 A4 side). Also, the cover will be glossy, and neat. Yours.........LOZ ------------------------------ Subject: Birthdays From: "LOZ Green" Date: Sun, 23 Aug 1998 11:27:13 +0100 Hi all, Marks 40th in October. My birthday was on the 17th of this month, when I was away. 24. Nice and young. OK then go on, whose going to do the full list of Level 42 birthdays, Mark, Mike, Phil, Boon, etc etc ad infinitum (well not quite). Then you can top that with wedding anniversaries, offsprings birthdays, it could get tricky. Takeo, about the Japanese 'Level 42' LP, could you give me all the details in the same way as your did with, 'Naito Romansu'???? Yours............LOZ ------------------------------ Subject: Thanks, JK (jamiroquai) & MP3 page From: "Adam Hankinson" Date: Sun, 23 Aug 1998 14:22:02 +0100 Hello friends, Just a quickie to say thanks to everyone who sent me birthday wishes. (All web site owners with links to us - We will email you with details asap) Adz ------------------------------ Subject: Bitter Moon/Primus From: The Saint Date: Sun, 23 Aug 1998 10:36:18 -0400 Just gave "Bitter Moon" a listen last night and loved it. MK continues to evolve his vocal range. I PRAY for a US release and tour dates, at least a club or 2 in NYC. I too listen to Primus and agree, the bass playing is great, but about as far from Level 42 as you can get. Great stuff, but you'd better like weird music. Imagine The Red Hot Chili Peppers mixed with They Might Be Giants and you've got Primus. For any fans of Primus, check out their side project, Sausage. paul F ------------------------------ Subject: Primus samples From: "Randall Collins" Date: Sun, 23 Aug 1998 10:34:11 -0500 If anyone is interested in hearing some wav. samples of the Primus songs Joey mentioned (and a few of my own Primus selections), email me. Right, then! Randall PS: I'll even throw in some Victor Wooten samples too if interested. ------------------------------ Subject: Word Machine From: PRic229432 @ aol.com Date: Sun, 23 Aug 1998 15:07:40 EDT Hi Loz Received Word Machine and copy of Definitive Biography... Thanks very much !! Just a note to compliment you on the research and work you put in ........as I have said before I do not have the time to research much due to my workload so I am very appreciative when some one takes the time to put a project together like Word Machine that keeps us all up to date with whats happening . For any one that has not ordered Word Machine, and I guess by now every one has a copy, get it ordered now you will not regret it ! Are you researching Level as part of your University course Loz..?.....Or using your time at Uni rather discretely.....? Thanks also must go to Paul Hammond and Bill Miller for the Eagle Rock info. Regards to all PJ ------------------------------ Subject: Bond Central Station From: DonZipf @ aol.com Date: Sun, 23 Aug 1998 15:26:55 EDT > For the record, it's nice to see Bond driving the DB5 in recent movies, > but he's got to loose the BMW's. Nice cars and everything, don't get > me wrong, but 007 is a British agent and needs to be in a British car. Well, BMW owns Land Rover now; isn't that close enough? ;o) > Larry Graham invented the slap & pluck style of bass guitar playing back in > 1968 Actually, that's a popular myth, but not exactly true. Slap bass was pioneered by the stand-up bassists of the be-bop era. Larry is credited as being the first to bring the technique to the electric bass guitar. From: "Marcus Bone" Date: Mon, 24 Aug 1998 10:28:49 +0100 Have just heard the Guitarist CD. >West L.A. in the modern day Ah!! That sounds right - nice one - that had me beat. You get the Paul Weller award for deciphering lyrics! >Living in her box Always thought that line was "Heaven in a box" - I could be wrong Third verse: >Mary-Lou has got her tongue >Blackened (?) to match the Eiffel Tower Glyn - either your ears are going or mine are!
