I am working on ideas for issue 2 of Word Machine (which should be ready in about a month) so far I'm thinking along the lines of: Full Review of 'One Man' Secrets of the polydor master tapes Journey through 'One Man' with Boon Word machine discography part 2, 'Level 42' Andy Sojka interview part 2 (where he divulges the existence of a rare track and tell us where it is today) LevelFest 98 ( ;-) ) Level 42 on the net ( ;-) ) Latest News (I am working on an interview with Mike L. but Jakko J is backup if I can't manage that. I will ask Jakko whatever happened to him re-working the guitar on 'My Fathers Shoes' and if he ever recorded studio stuff with the band. I will ask Mike what one earth he is doing.) I was writing this message to ask for volunteer for an article but now it seems I will have quite enough stuff. I may have to stick in an extra A4 sheet over and above issue 1. Now then, news. I think it will be fair for me to give a breif description of the various types of promos for 'One Man' that are knocking around here and there in a couple of days ( I don't want to do it too soon). There are two different kinds at the moment, and as its only 5 weeks to the big day I guess the great promo hunt will be on, so look out for a post from me in a week or so giving detaills of that See you all soon....................LOZ -------------------------------------------- 'Word Machine' the Level 42 fanzine. Thanks especially to Winston (My Heeee-ro) Walker, our gracious host. As someone who has never had a chance to make many friends, I thank God for the Digest and the chance we have -- Fest days and (via the Web) every day -- to share our love of this great band, and share a bit of ourselves in the process. Hope we can do this again soon -- real soon. Take care of yourselves, The Duke _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? A work mate recently arrived back from the UK with some goodies. Yeap, you guessed it, some Level 42 cd's. Happy Happy, joy joy. I got The Pursuit of Accidents, Level 42, The early Tapes and True Colours. Mine you, most of you have had these cd's for years now. But I have not. I've been tring to get them. These cd's are all great. My favourite (at the moment) is True Colours. The ear phones haven't left my ear since then. What have I been missing...Anyway enough typing must get back to the music or else the drum's might stop.! The performances were top notch BUT the sound sucked and > the crowd at Chastain in Atlanta was too passive... here's a very accurate > review, however... http://www.billboard.com/concerts/cultureclub.html Sorry, a little late here (the list's filters kept getting me :). She's right, most of the crowed seemed to be doing their own thing, eating and drinking wine at their tables, walking around and socializing with everyone! It wasn't until CC came on that they watched the show. Also, the concert in Atlanta was the first Culture Club show since their reunion (not a hugh CC fan here though, but do like them). All of the songs the bands played sounded just like they used to. I'm a big Hj fan myself. We were sitting towards the back so I couldn't see what everyone looked like. I could see that HJ had short jet black hair, and to whoever asked about the HL girls, I could only tell the blonde was wearing some pretty skimpy clothes, and she was pretty thin. Very new age type stuff, must be from living in New Zealand but great albums all the same. I seem to remember seeing Howard Jones in Australia on the Dream into Action tour. At that time his brother was the bass player. Can anyone confirm this ? Does anyone know if the Howard Jones / Human League / Culture Club concerts will make it down under ? Eagerly anticipating the new Mark King album.
