Thanks, trying to build my CD collection. Steve Simon ------------------------------ Subject: Things and the like... From: GJWillett @ aol.com Date: Fri, 17 Jul 1998 11:31:19 EDT Hi folks, Just come back from a weeks holiday (vacation for all you 'English' speaking Americans out there) in France (and no I didn't go to watch the Cup final!) Talking of which, while I was in France I tried to find a bar, in a fairly large town near where I was staying, to watch the match on TV and have a few jars (as you do). But could I find a bar that was open? Could I 'eck!! You would have thought that as France were playing in the World Cup Final, and it was such a big occasion for them, they would have every bar open. But alas not!!! Couldn't understand it - must be something to do with their trading laws or something. Anyway, I did manage to find one bar open AND with a TV but by this time I had missed the opening 20 minutes.. all very strange..Well when they won it was another thing altogether!! A few 'querps' have kept me entertained since I've been away: Andrew Goodwin wrote: >Enough about Cleveland/Denver already! What is this, the American "Large >Lumps Running Into Each Other And Falling Over & Not A Patch On Real >Football Anyway" Football Digest? Too true mate! You got me rolling around on the floor with this one! Morgan wrote about the re-issue stuff: >Bonus tracks:- >9. 42 6.39 >10. Beezer One 7.12 >11. Foundation & Empire 8.28 >12. Dune Tune (live) 4.57 >13. Goodbye Ray Schmidt-Volk 2.30 OK Loz, what did Mark say about who Ray Schmidt-Volk is/was then? Also is there a track from the Level 42 album era called 'Mourning'? I heard, in the past, that this track got included on some of the promo samplers for the album. Heard anything about this? >13. The Chinese Way (remix) 10.43 Here's one for you Lolita! All 10.43 minutes of it!!! >12. Hot Water – full length (NOT Mastermix) Let's hope this lasts for half-an-hour!!!! >13. Brazil 99 (unreleased track – demo) 3.18 France 0 - NOT!!!!! >13. Hell 11.28 Most be a dark and 'heavy' track.... >15. Oh Darling 4.00 That's what they all say!!! Wow! All this re-issue stuff, the GH album and MK's album - You just know we're going to have to take out second mortages for all this lot!!! Endith... Glyn. Can not get in to it at home > or work. Does anyone know the answer?? >I have the same problem in Belgium. My computer gives always 'waiting >for replay" and than after a few minutes he gives me "error". What can >this be ? I can't acces the LEVEL 42 homepage from the Netherlands (aka Holland) But I'm happy (for now) with the tracklistings as they were given here the day before yesterday. No reactions yet in todays digest (Strange). Is the remix of The sun goes down gonna be released in Holland? Or UK only ? BUT I WANT MY FAV. HOMEPAGE BACK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So Morgan get behind your keyboard and find out what is wrong. Don't worry about tomorrow, just live forever now Ronald ------------------------------ Subject: take 6 From: eric_spiering @ siltronic.com Date: Fri, 17 Jul 98 11:05:23 -0800 hi, just wanted to agree with Andrew... Take6 is hands down the best live vocal performance i have ever seen or hope to see again. saw them on tour for their Spread Love album back in 89. i still have the t-shirt. they are even somewhat of a secret in the US. i requested one fo their songs from the local jazz station and the dj said "who?" maybe he was just too young to know the good stuff. And thanks for the track listings for the L42 reissues. it looks like they are going to include all the b sides as extra tracks... i am excited because i wasn't sure how i was going to get ahold of all that old vinyl! please keep us advised how to order these CDs. later eric ------------------------------ Subject: Satarday Night Live From: voltair @ imap4.asu.edu Date: Fri, 17 Jul 1998 11:59:55 -0700 (MST) Did anyone else see the Satarday Night live rerun on Comedy Central last night? Level 42 was the musical guest. I only heard one song which was "something About You". I couldn't get a tape in the vcr fast enough. Did anyone get it? Still hearing the distant guns Eric ------------------------------ Subject: Lighten Up!!! From: "Adrian Bond" Date: Fri, 17 Jul 1998 21:18:47 +0100 If anyone Scottish was offended by the comments raised by Tianna in the earlier digest then speak up now. I feel the comments were only to tickle peoples' ribs and not to offend. I'm a Welshman living in England and I am quite often the butt of Welsh jokes (particularly to do with sheep!) and I have never been offended by them. As a matter of fact I've never met a Scottish person who was offended by Scottish jokes either. So lighten up, this is meant to be fun !!! Anyway, enough of that, one of my top 10 non-L42 songs is "Labour of Love" by Hue and Cry so I guess that counts me in as one of their fans (also liked "Looking for Linda"). Cheers Ade "I want love in a peaceful world" ------------------------------ Subject: Take 6 From: Lolitaj @ aol.com Date: Fri, 17 Jul 1998 18:18:42 EDT There are a couple of us 'a capella heads' on this digest, and I'm sure they will agree with what I'm about to say. I have seen Take 6 many times, both with and without a band, and you should definitely get their CDs that were recorded without a band - the first one, as someone said yesterday, and So Much to Say. The first one is a masterpiece, especially, David and Goliath, Spread Love, Mary and Get Away Jordan. Anyway, my two cents. Lolita
