From: "Adam Hankinson" Date: Sun, 5 Jul 1998 14:18:11 +0100 Hello friends, I been away for a few days (stag party and gigging etc) and have just read through the last three digests......some comments: Re: Paul H and Bill M's special announcement. This sounds wonderfull. When Mark K said "You sort out the fanclub" (@ ILF) I didn't think anyone would. Good on you guys and good luck. Any help you need I'm sure you'll get from the members of this digest. Will Greer: (#177) >I'm an Ape lover too hmm, I think you can get arrested for that !! Dave Kidd (#177) I loved your subject : A Rant in the key of E minor M K's fav key?? I have always wondered if MK actually picked the key in favour of the bass or his voice? As most Bass players are aware, E minor is the best place to slap coz of the open string/muted A (on E). It's so easy to add extra "clicks" and make it sound like your playing so much faster !! (cheating!!) Also Dave, I am a Leicester City supporter (Blue army eh, Chris D?) I also support a non-league team - Nuneaton Borough !! Any other digesters in Leicestershire/Warwickshire areas? Jonathon (Nick ??) (#178) Re: Famous people @ L42 gigs I saw Bruno Brookes at a level gig !! He was a big fan and always tried to play their stuff on Radio 1 (back in the good old days) Bruce C (#179) >Happy July 4th to everyone in the US, celebrating our independence >from those wretched Brits! (kidding of course, hehe) Ha ha, yep Happy 4th of July to you Americans from us Brits too. Isn't it just an excuse to have Friday afternoon of work? :-) Adz http://listen.to/level42 http://surf.to/adz ------------------------------ Subject: Web stuff/ilf From: Bilal42 @ aol.com Date: Sun, 5 Jul 1998 22:22:19 EDT OK guys My first attempt at a web page, I've put a short vid clip from the ilf on it (I was short on capacity though). http://members.aol.com/bilal42/index.html/ Secondly, sorry to Loz for being so late, 'new' computer is bag of *****. caps: Winman42 is well known to many of us, he is utterly reliable and one of the well regarded members of the digest. I trade stuff with him all the time, he is 100 times more reliable and honourable than me. I dont want to hear much more about the cap business on here. take care all Bilal ------------------------------ Subject: Thanks Tianna & Winston! From: "Richard Herren" Date: Mon, 6 Jul 1998 02:56:45 -0500 Early last month, I met with Tianna & Winston in NYC. Thanks to both for the time together, & especially to Tianna for waiting so long. Tianna was, well, cryptic, but helpful, & both she & Winston knew something about everything that my friends & I discussed. Level minds think alike, I guess. One question, though: Why wasn't there any L42 on the jukebox? The next day, the boys at NBC recommended we eat at Carmine's, which we did. They failed to warn us that the meals there were one of only a handful of man-made objects that can be seen from space... -r ------------------------------ Subject: Spellengs ! From: Tom Brown Date: Mon, 6 Jul 1998 09:05:01 +0000 Hi Folks, Bruce, sorry mate, but you had me in stitches with this one : >>I think someone spelled 'The Fugative' wrong - it's Fugitive! :) Erm, try spelt !!! (I'm now quickly gonna run every single spell and grammar checker to make sure that I haven't made a similar mistake ). Got hold of August Bassist on Saturday !!! Oh yeah, sorted !!! MK is definitely the business. After speaking to him at the ILF, his interview seemed all that little bit more personal. He plays an upright on his new album ???? WOW ! Speaking of the bassist, can anybody advise as to whether the deal by the Bass Centre is a good one ??? I think it was a Peavey Milestone, a Trace Elliott Boxter 15, a strap,a lead and 1 years set up for £249. Somebody help, I'm still looking for a good starter bass - is this a good deal ??? Was in York (Northern England) on business last week. Went for lunch to a pub (as you do) and whilst tucking in to my starter, what did they play in the background......LIL !!! Made the meal taste better than ever !!! Not only that, but after dining, I was playing on one of those trivia machines with some friends. We went for a music question, what tune did we have to identify.......SAY !!! You can't keep a good groove down !!! Happy Independence Day to all you guys across the pond. It don't mean a lot to us here. What did we do ? Watch the womens singles final at Wimbledon . Here's one for the Brits : Q: What's the difference between an Airfix plane and David Beckham ? A: One's a glueless kit.......... Unkind, very unkind. That's All -Tom ------------------------------ Subject: Word Machine From: "Green, Laurence F" Date: Mon, 6 Jul 1998 09:45:00 +0100 People, I thought I would write and let you know how my fanzine (magazine) was going. Well, 'Word Machine' issue 1 is FINISHED. But don't mail me yet. I am now working on printing and distribution. I have two distributors in the UK and am privately searching for a distributor in the US. It will be approxmately 2 weeks before any of you get hold of some fanzines. WATCH this space. Issue 2 is full, there is no space for articles but I am looking for someone to do some cover artwork for it. I did all the artwork for issue 1 and it took me ages but I'm sure you will agree when you look at it that it was worthwhile. Anyone who wants to do cover artwork for issue 2 please let me know. I need to sell about 200 to really make a go of it and I think that that is possible. Yours.........LOZ ------------------------------ Subject: Some band enquiries From: "Charl Mocke" <9413693 @ narga.sun.ac.za> Organization: Stellenbosch University Date: Mon, 6 Jul 1998 11:30:08 +0200 Hi everyone... ....
