Recently I've been trying my best to wear out my Paul Weller "Wild Wood" CD. I was wondering whether any of you who are fans of Weller/The Style Council/Talbot & White/The Jam might recommend to me which of Weller's other three CDs is best. I have a feeling I'd like all of them, but it will be awhile before I can pick up all of them. So...which should be my next move? Brian, I agree with you completely. Most recently, I was trying to explain to a long distance friend who Level 42 was and what songs they had that made the charts. I bought my friend a copy of Level Best and mailed it. Initially, I was perplexed as to what cd to actually send. Whereas Level Best is not a cd that I listen to on a regular basis, I was confused when trying to determine which cd would best illustrate exactly why I love the music of L42. One of my main reasons for sending Level Best was because LIL and SAY are both typically remembered by the mass public from the 80s. My friend's first response to me was 'yeah, I remember these two songs'. And then "they sound like Information Society". Well, I was slightly offended to this comparison. While I liked the few songs Information Society had released, I would never make such an analogy. In retrospect, I'm still not sure that I selected the correct cd to send to someone new to L42. What does everyone else think? Should I have sent WM or RITF instead? I'm just not sure. I am definitely biased as to which cd's are my most listened to; however, I do not think those cd's are the best selections for someone not already familiar with the band. Back to Level Best though, I love TCOY and enjoy the faster upbeat Tracie - preferring, however, the version on SATS. I must admit though, when the cd came out, my main rush to purchase was due to the one and only new release on it - TCOY. As far as 'best of' cd's go, I must say, that I much prefer P&P!! ------=_NextPart_000_011C_01BD291D.B8D50300-- ------------------------------ Subject: Network problems and Paul Weller From: "Eric J. Hansen" Organization: Worldmachine Technologies Corporation Date: Sat, 24 Jan 1998 18:28:47 -0500 (EST) Folks, FYI -- we're having some network problems over here, so many of you will receive Saturday's Digest late (if at all). You can always get the most recent Digest at: http://www.worldmachine.com/level42/#archive This problem may persist for several days -- I apologize. I'm doing everything I can to correct it, but it's really a problem with my home ISP. Within a few weeks, this will be moved to my work ISP, which is considerably more reliable. Shuf wanted to know about Paul Weller. I'd greatly recommend his first, self-titled album. Then, his second (Wildwood). I think they've gone progressively downhill... i.e., his 3rd and 4th albums aren't my favorites. Although, Traffic fans will definitely want to pick up these later works. There's also a live album called "Live Wood" which is really good. -Eric p.s. I'm off to Maui, HI on Wed to (you guessed it) get married! Aloha! -- Eric J.
