It wasn't a photograph it was drawn. But the strange thing was. On the cover it said "Featuring six remixes". Number 6 would be the ADSC mix of "To be with you again" This remix was left out on the final release. Does anybody know why?????? I think it is a great remix but it was never on any single or remix compilation album. STRANGE!! Don't worry about tomorrow, just live forever now Ronald ------------------------------ Subject: MODS From: Brian Date: Sun, 14 Jun 1998 10:11:40 -0500 Charl Mocke wrote: > Back in the old days, there were MOD files. Let me know if you want some links. Plus if your a former Amiga user like me, you can get all the good old Amiga music in MOD format on the net. -- Brian. Also, please dont assume someone else will because often I feel that everyone assumes that and I get no reply. If you do mail me I am interested in the catalogue number and also does the item list the catalogue numbers of the other formats? ie usually the LP will say something like, 'also on cassette 23442-23342' or whatever. Also, Takeo, Lazlo, can anyone help me? Where does 'A Nights Romance' come from? I have heard people say it is a Japenese title for 'Early Tapes' but I cannot find it anywhere? What is going on? Thankyou.....LOZ ------------------------------ Subject: ADSC (see above) From: "LOZ Green" Date: Sun, 14 Jun 1998 19:22:40 +0100 Very interesting someone should mention the missing ADSC mix as Mike Petty and I will both testify as we have been discussing it privatly recently. A version of Platinum Edition was released containing 6 tracks the extra one being the ADSC mis of To Be With You Again. This version was handed out to record company bosses and some slipped out the back door. Simon carson of Liverpool has one and Mike Petty new a guy selling them, although the guy mistakenly claimed some of the remixes were elsewhere unreleased. A very desirably item to track down indeed. Hope this answers your question, and try and get a photocopy of the thing off your mate. From: The Saint Date: Sun, 14 Jun 1998 17:26:11 -0400 I was watching VH-1 early this morning and they had that cheesy "Solid Gold" show and I was wondering if Level 42 were ever featured on the show (either lip syncing or just playing a few minutes of their music for those dancers). I do remember seeing a 60 second snippet in 1987/88 on Casey's Top 20 tv show with Mark King and the Running In The Family album just before they jumped into a story on Dirty Dancing (the movie). Other than thier appearance on Saturday Night Live, and MTV airing the entire Live At Wembly video uncut around 1988, that's all the US tv exposure I can think of for the band. On another note, pertaining to 80's music (although not quite Sheila E). The Human League are not talking to anyone about thier split from EastWest Records and are very sensitive about the issue (this comes from thier new management at ARK 21 Records). They will have a new Greatest Hits CD with a bonus interview track about the making of the DARE album. Also, my good friends, Real Life, will have a live video out for the US market in a few months featuring old classics and stuff from the new album. Cheers, paul F PS. I'm game for an NYC level fest ------------------------------ Subject: Almost There From: "Greg Jamate" Date: Mon, 15 Jun 1998 01:55:40 -0400 Hi Levelheads, please help; what are the lyrics in the chorus of 'Almost There'? What I can make of it; Almost there, you and I, catch the ?, touch the sky ? ?, feel the groove, now's the time make your move. I played this tune for a friend who was deprived of Level 42, and he became hooked on the chorus. What got him was the melody phrase sung over four bars. He also liked the effect of the flute sound tagging the vocals. The lyrics database at www.lyrics.ch has 20 Level 42 songs! Unfortunately not this one. thanks, Greg ------------------------------ Subject: bizarre L42 Muzak moment From: JennCyn @ aol.com Date: Mon, 15 Jun 1998 02:52:46 EDT I'm currently in the St. Cloud Holiday Inn. The expansive indoor pool/recreation area has instrumental music piped in over the speakers while the facilities are open. I was sitting here with my door open towards the pool and heard the opening notes of "Love in a Peaceful World" come drifting in..... strange moment. truly strange. :) - jenn ------------------------------ Subject: Re: Level42 Digest V98 #156 From: Andrew Goodwin Date: Mon, 15 Jun 1998 09:01:12 +0100 > Subject: What is it like to be a Level 42 fan in the UK? > From: Steven_Libenson @ monitor.com > Date: Thu, 11 Jun 1998 18:09:32 -0400 > > On the other hand, I assume that just about everyone in the UK has > heard of them. Is this true? I am curious to learn how fans and > non-fans in the UK react to the group. Usually an admission on my part that I am a Level 42 fan evokes one of three responses: 1) Ha ha! 2) Oh dear. 3) Indifferent shrug of shoulders. > What is the band's "reputation?" Do people connect them with 80's pop > at it's best (Tears for Fears) at it's worst (you fill in the blank), > with "musicians' bands," with jazz-funk bands of the 70's or with > something else? Since their biggest hits here were Lessons In Love and Something About You, the majority of people remember them as a fairly commercial pop band with a bad image. I'd take a wager that although 90% of people my age would remember Level 42, 90% of them would have no idea that there was a high level of musicianship in the band. To sum up, they're held in pretty low regard. But who cares? Hell, I was a Steely Dan fan for years before they started being sampled and suddenly became hip, so who knows what awaits Level 42? We all have a cross to bear. Some people admit to liking the Lighthouse Family. It takes all sorts. AG
