Great pins and a steal... My check will be in the mail this week.... Recently I have been running into many old friends since planning the wedding. Everybody said that if anything else, they always think of me when they hear a Level 42 song on the radio. Just about everybody who knows me has been exposed to the group by me, and thinks of me when they hear them... Anybody else remembered by longtime friends through Level 42?????? Misc Ramblings on up coming Non-L42 releases. The Outfield, Pseudo Echo (now called Brill Building), The Human League, Howard Jones, OMD, Depeche Mode, and New Order all have new material and even tours on the way by the fall (to name a few). Be sure to find me this August as Real Life tours the US with Jesus Jones. Any interested parties, e-mail me and I will pass on the tour schedule when we confirm it. Cheers, paul F PS. Check out my interview with David Sterry of Real Life at "www.theendoftheworld.net" later this week. ------------------------------ Subject: Re: Level42 Digest V98 #153 From: StingFan21 @ aol.com Date: Tue, 9 Jun 1998 08:31:36 EDT Hey guys!!!! So there the lyrics, this is one my favorite songs from them. from a fellow levelhead. I've read several articles on this, and it seems to be a contentious issue (especially with retail stores). As far as getting Level 42 more coverage in music clubs (other than Level Best), it's a noble idea, but it ain't gonna happen. The group has more of a niche fanbase, and any money made from them will occur in the CD shops at close to full retail price. Now, with all due respect to Lazlo (who maintains the definitive discography of Level 42), I would recoomend that all and their kin join record clubs. I have over 600 CD's now, more than half through the kindness of record clubs. It has allowed me to sample groups who I wouldn't have likely taken a chance on (usually only get to hear one or two tracks on the radio). And the fact remains that the price of CD's in retail stores is still grossly unfair. Yes, the record clubs price their products too low. But if I have to choose the lesser of two evils, well.... (and I live in Toronto, which with the current state of the Canadian dollar, probably has the lowest retail prices in the Western world). The way I look at it, I have 12 remastered David Bowie albums that I paid a total of about $45 Canadian ($32 US, 19 pounds sterling) from BMG Music Club. Perhaps I'm selfish, and have taken untold dollars from Mr Bowie, but I feel pretty damned good about it. And it's completely legal. Where's the harm in that?? Cliff Barua - Toronto ------------------------------ Subject: MK on Bass Player From: Daniel James Date: Tue, 9 Jun 1998 09:19:03 -0700 (PDT) > I thought I would excite you all by telling you that next months bass > player magazine apparently has a huge feature on Mark King, a bass > player of some repute currently living in the Isle of Wight area. Actually, those of us that made it out to the Bass Centre on Tuesday knew about this. Apparently, Mark King was originally supposed to show up there on the following Thursday or Friday for a photo shoot for an upcoming Bass Player issue, where he was to grace to cover. The gentleman that sold Morgan the basses called around to find out exactly when he'd be by so that we could return and Morgan could get his new toys autographed. After some calling around, it was discovered that the photo shoot had been moved to a studio (seems they wanted to have the shoot done in a more controlled environment). Not to gloat, but this seemed like an interesting addendum... ------------------------------ Subject: Re: Level42 Digest V98 #153 From: Bilal42 @ aol.com Date: Tue, 9 Jun 1998 13:02:41 EDT In a message dated 09/06/98 10:00:48 GMT, you write: > but if it were (ha!), we could do publicity, I know Eric and a few > other folks are around these parts, we could post fliers, try to spark > some interest and jog some meories...I know a couple of writers for a > paper (the boston Phoenix, kind of a sad version of the Village Voice > (NY)) and I could probably manage to get an article written...with a > little violence we could get some airplay, maybe....
