From: Tom Brown Date: Thu, 4 Jun 1998 14:17:10 +0000 Hi Folks, Excuse the non-L42 posting, but you may forgive me !!! Q: What's the difference between the Spicegirls and a chicken tikka ? A: The chicken tikka has still got Ginger in it ! Q: What's the difference between the Spicegirls now that Geri's left, and the All Saints ? A: About 22 stone ! Q: What's the difference between the Spicegirls and a hotel kitchen ? A: You can still find two big jugs in the hotel kitchen ! That's All -Tom ------------------------------ Subject: Hair,Magic, Jay Dee, etc. From: Winman42 @ aol.com Date: Thu, 4 Jun 1998 10:37:10 EDT Boy, I could have predicted that Lolita was gonna' wheel out her long hair/short hair theory. It's all a moot point unless you know the hair length when the tunes were written & recorded, right? I'd hazard a guess that his hang was longer while writing. (who says we can't find things to talk about?) :-) Just look in the mirror and say: "It's been 4 days without Ginger Spice, and I will survive" I think we all agreed at the Bass Centre, that the Jay Dee sounded better than the new Alembic bass. That really suprised me because the Jay Dee had been hanging on the wall for who knows how long. I'm sure the strings were old as dirt. Yet the management plucked it out of it's display case, and it sounded GREAT. I have no firm confirmation on this, but my feeling is that the material added to the re-releases would be demos and unreleased tracks. Not just a rehashing of 12' remixes. A new medley might be cool. Hmmmm. Regarding the whole 'cash for tour' thing: I agree that the record company should finance any tours. However, that would be the case in the UK and Europe, I doubt that Eagle Rock would go for a tour in the states. I figure the big way to push Mark King, is to rely on his notoriety with Level 42. Since Level 42 were never huge in the U.S., I don't see a tour happening here. I'd be willing to shell out a few bucks, and travel to where ever the show(s) might be. heck, I'm gonna' make a UK show, if possible. I'm sure that if I looked in the paper today, and saw Mark King in concert for $100.00, I would run out and by tickets. Lastly, i met up with Richard herrin (Funky D.J.) and Tianna last nite for a bit of dinner and drinks. had a great time meeting Richards, and seeing Tianna again. (Time for another NYC fest!!) Richard amazed us with some very cool magic tricks, that still have my head reeling. And Don, you were correct, he does go through decks of cards like a champ! Somebody must be able to? Please? Also, I havent had any offers of an exchange for my T-Shirt. The T-Shirt is of the Crystal Palace bowl 'comeback' concert and was only on sale at that concert. I will swap for anything, I would particularly appreciate a copy of the US version of World Machine on CD. Now that is a good swap, but Ive promised someone that CD. Also, I got ONLY ONE email about my quest for rare Early tapes items. If anyone has an acetate or a white label promo of the Polydor Love Meeting Love 12" or an acetate of the Elite Love Meeting Love 12" then you must get in touch with me. ALSO ALSO ALSO is there a DUTCH version of the Early Tapes, I seem to remember hearing of one? Also, 7" promos or acetate from the two Polydor early tape singles needed. Remeber, I only need information and possibly photos of these items, I dont need the items themseleves! PAT Flanagan (spelling apologies) Do you have a copy of that CD with Head Full of Shadows on it? Im sure you do! Could you get in touch with me about sending me the details please! Someone once said a copy of some Boon songs was given away free with a CD. I have searched the digest search engine BUT IN VAIN. I think the digest can do without referring to women as an assemblage of body parts. The 'tits' reference is a bit out of line! If you don't like Spice Girls, that's great, but leave out the derogatory descriptives. Maybe you didn't mean anything by it, but it's still inappropriate. Right, then! This is purely for my own pleasure, not for any financial gain. If anyone can shed some light on this rather complex question, I would be very very happy. It may be better to mail me privately, as I'm sure most people won't be interested in this. Many thanks in advance Graham *music is the key to set me free*
