I bought the 2 popular Dave Matthews CD's, and I listened to them over and over, but never really caught on to this until I saw some live footage. His style has to be seen to be believed! It was no wonder I couldn't duplicate it. Unfortunately, I'm not that great at playing in that configuration (but I can play right-handed on a lefty set...) so I still get frustrated. :^p > Carter is Mr. Beat displacement and will try to do everything to make > you forget about "one". Crazy isn't it? I think he's the reason that band is doing so well. Good guitarists, and singers, and bass players and etc. etc. are important, but if you have a great drummer who can make people get into the groove, your in good shape! -> "Saint" Paul: The check is in the mail... :^) ------------------------------- Chris Staunton chriss @ pcsupplies.com ...gotta get back to BASSics... ------------------------------- ------------------------------ Subject: welcome,Aladdin,MTV, Saisse, etc. From: Winman42 Date: Thu, 7 May 1998 11:25:37 EDT Hey Elizabeth, welcome aboard! Try these web pages, for more info about the band: http://www.inland.net/~cmueller/level42.htm http://www.level42.com/ http://kumo.swcp.com/synth/level42/ http://members.aol.com/winman42/main42.html Dan, thanks for the cool link. No more getting lost in the cave tunnels of the Aladdin, huh? Katie passed along similar info a week or so ago. Well, here is yet another anti-MTV rant, albeit of a different sort. I have to walk thru Times Square everyday on my way home from work, and since MTV opened their 'new' Times Square studio, it's been a nightmare! Now, normally the traffic in TS is horrible, but now MTV has some live show that is broadcast from this studio, and they have large windows where fans gather in the street and watch. This really backs the traffic up, and causes some major car wrecks. Anyway, enough of my ranting. Dave, i like Phillippe Saisse, but have never heard that particular album. I have heard CD101.9 rave about that album. Where did you get it? as I was under the impression it was out of print. Are you at all familar with his work with the band 'OUTLOUD'? Nile Rodgers of CHIC fame was the founding member of that group, which lasted all but 1 album. Hey Zaphod, pls drop me a line. I've e-mailed you a few times, but have not heard back. maybe the mail didn't get through. Then again, maybe it did, and you are ignoring me. In which case I'll just sit here with an embarrassed look on my face. :-) All for now, Win ------------------------------ Subject: Keyboard parts/FN From: DonZipf Date: Thu, 7 May 1998 13:32:15 EDT > Also, lots of us wonder what parts on all the albums are Mike, and which > are Wally. There's no way to be sure, I guess, but I've always suspected that Mike played the pads, while Wally provided the "ear candy". After all, Wally is known to be the great arranger/orchestrator. > They pointed me in the direction of an import cd store.. and VOILA! I > got my RCA copy of "Forever Now". Excellent, Kara. But may I suggest to you and all others: Get the Resurgence version of FN while you can! I now have three FN's: RCA UK, RCA Japan, & Resurgence, and the Resurgence is best (even though it lacks the great dance tune "All Over You"). It contains several songs you won't find anywhere else, including a rewritten version of "Billy's Gone". And this version is still available in US stores! Z.
