Yes Andre I've seen him twice playing with Maceo Parker. During a show at a small theatre in 1997 he played a solo slap break. What was interesting is that he incorporated an over the neck slap in his groove. It looks very physically demanding. He played a little with the audience, teasing. The audience responded loudly. I don't know much of his backround except that he is from either Nashville or New York City. I talked about the show with him afterward, he was real easy going and friendly. Nice guy. Yes Candy Dulfer is excellent. I play bass along with her version of Pick up the Pieces at least three times a week to get the funk out. ciao, Greg ------------------------------ Subject: Tracie From: Mighty Maomoondog Date: Sat, 17 Jan 1998 22:47:38 +0100 Hey everyone! > I like "Tracie" on Level Best much better than on Staring > at the Sun. If so, which one is the "original"? > It doesn't seem like one is the sped up/slowed down version > of the other, but maybe it is. Anyone? Oh Yes! Finally someone who also likes Tracie a lot [unlike Alex and Lolita ;-) ]! Well, if you like the version on Level Best, check out the extended version! It's got a really cool guitar solo by Alan and some nice rapping by Mark aswell! I think that the version on SATS is the original, since it was released eralier (i.e. 1988, while Tracie was released as a single in 1989). They were right that it would make a nice single and that the original version was a bit too slow. In my opinion, they (as in the record company people) should have done the same thing with Her Big Day: speed it up a little and make some cool remixes and voila: another hit. Oh well... C y'all later!
