Theo Hammar ------------------------------ Subject: HELLO, 1998! From: "Eric J. Hansen" Organization: Worldmachine Technologies Corporation Date: Thu, 8 Jan 1998 01:12:12 -0500 (EST) Hey folks, well we're back up for 1998 and well beyond, and _nearly_ for good... I'll still need to take the lists down for 1-2 days sometime in the next few weeks, but the interruption should be brief (I'll post another message about it at that time). Thanks for bearing with me during this hardware/software/network transition! There are a bunch of new subscribers on all lists, so a big "welcome" to these people, too! SO, without further adieu, I give you... Eric Manager, Level 42 Digest / Incognito Digest / Go West Digest -- Eric J. A lot of my personal Faves are on it live. Also, Winman, nice liner notes! Keith ------------------------------ Subject: Intl. LevelFest From: DonZipf Date: Tue, 30 Dec 1997 13:32:57 EST I'm very interested in the UK LevelFest this Sping, as I haven't been to England since about 1979. I have a couple of questions: Whatever became of the idea to try and book Mark/Mike/etc. for a meet & greet? Is that a possibility, or no? Is Gary's new band still gigging 'round there, and can we get a schedule and possibly catch a show? If we're really going to go there, we should try to make it as big a deal as we can, and get our money's worth! Z. ------------------------------ Subject: shirts & tunes From: "Glenn, David" Date: Tue, 30 Dec 1997 18:49:00 -0500 Hello All, and a Happy Imminent New Year-- I was compelled to drive from Seattle to Medford, Oregon, for Christmas - - - 450 miles of not the most visually compelling highway scenery you'll ever find. Thankfully, I was prepared with numerous L42 discs. Geez, could there be any better road music? Sadly, neither AYGB or P&P would work in my car deck; the ZapMaster informed me that some decks can't read burned discs, so I had to make do with other old faves. Checked out the two t-shirt logos moments ago (www.swcp.com/~geostat/tshirts.html) and both look great. I would like to make a STRENUOUS plea for the front design to be placed in the "pocket" location, rather than splashed across the entire front of the shirt, and let the larger design take its rightful place on the back side. My two cents. To whomever put that page on the web, many thanks. David G. Seattle ------------------------------ Subject: Happy New Year!!!! From: paul fucito Date: Tue, 30 Dec 1997 21:08:48 -0500 Happy New Year to all you Levelheads out there.... I'll be braking in 1998 with my girlfriend, who as of saturday is now my fiance. How does one go about getting a copy of these two miraculous sounding CD's? Could someone let me know? Thanks! Godt Nyt Aar (Danish Happy New Year)! It is 8pm New Year's Eve, 1997. I would like to include you all in my warmest thoughts of the last year. Wil Hensley ------------------------------ Subject: Re: Level42 Digest V97 #362 From: Alquin Date: Wed, 31 Dec 1997 20:10:23 EST Just received another e-mail from you. I always enjoy reading about my favourite band. I have been a Level 42 fan since 1982, when I was still living in The Netherlands. Unfortunately, I never did have the opportunity to see them perform. I moved to the United States and have settled here permanently. Just recently I purchased my computer and have been very pleased to read all the great stuff on the internet about L42! Buying L42 CD's in the USA is very limited indeed. If anyone knows of a place that sells British imports or equivalent, please write to me. Last week I did manage to get three CD's from London, as a friend of my wife is a flight attendant for an airline here in America (my wife is also a flight attendant, and at times I also fly with her for fun to London to browse the CD stores in London. I would love to talk to some Dutch L42 fans; I know that L42 was a very popular band in its heyday back in the old country! You guys, keep up the good work and we'll talk again soon. Alan VanderWeyden Alquin @ AOL.com ------------------------------ Subject: Re: The New Year From: Carl Mueller Date: Sun, 04 Jan 1998 10:17:12 -0800 Happy New Year, everybody!!! Laurel and I spent New Year's in Vega$ at the Stratosphere. It was all very last minute stuff since we didn't find out we were going until the sunday before. We didn't get to Vega$ until 10:30pm because of the most horrific traffic you've ever seen, but once we parked the car (eventually) and got a seat the nearest bar everything was fine. At the stroke of midnight I asked Laurel to marry me, and she said yes. What a way to start the New Year, eh? (It's looking like august or september btw). On New Year's Day we hooked up with Brad Byers, another Vega$fest veteran from june '97, and we got a bite to eat at the ol' Geisha House. Winston has a webpage at http://members.aol.com/level4t2/vegas.htm with Vega$ pics including one taken there. Well, Happy New Year from both of us once again and we hope the Digest will be back up soon. I missed you folks :) Hope Christmas was Merry and the New Year is Good, for people that celebrate those things. Good News: I've got a new girlfriend, And she LOVES Level42!! Not bad, eh? Sounds like a keeper :) Also, she was in New Orleans, LA, last week and after watchin the Level Best video collection with me last night, said that she had gone into one of the stores (A+P) shown in the 'Take A Look' video. This was filmed in the 'French Quarter' section of N.O. (I haven't been there myself yet). I should ask her if she got to sing 'Tie a Yellow Ribbon 'Round the Old Oak Tree' :) Pat F - the L42 live tape w/Holdsworth made a great Christmas gift to a friend of mine. I just bought the LAW CD for his birthday gift too. :) fyi. try www.EventCal.Com for info on stuff happening around the world. it's cool. From: "Theo Hammar" Date: Thu, 8 Jan 1998 09:42:58 +0100 Being a new subscriber - though an old fan - I was encouraged to write a few lines about myself and my relation to Level 42; I discovered Level 42 in -85 while being at the states as an exchange student - the band breaking big at that time with Running In The Family - their biggest hit perhaps, but never ever the best exerpt from the band. I live in Stockholm Sweden, and I work at a recordcompany now, however I have never heard or seen a slapbaseplayer getting even close nearby what I saw mr Mark King do at the concert here in Stockholm in -91. I myself play sporanosaxophone [like Level-saxophonist, mr Chrys Mach ((SPELLING?)) on the livevideo from Wembley -86?]. Keep leveling with me! Theo
