I too disapprove of the selling on of an AYGB disc (esp. as I know I haven't coughed up for mine yet. I will, I will!) But how many of us can say we're not attracted MORE to something bearing the legend "Promotional copy only. Not for sale". Now how about if any/all of our Digest-produced disks bore a legend something like "Fabricated not-for-profit by Level42 enthusiasts. Remember the Cyndi > Lauper tune "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun"? Case in point, folks. > They're having a blast, and this world could use a good dose of good > fun. With all the real horrible things going on in the world, this > amounts to nothing. I have a very constructive life, thanks. I'm a bloke. Yes I do, unfortunately. Maybe. Possibly. I agree, so what's the harm in a little piss-taking? On a more L42 related postive note, I got my AYGB CD today. I know I've sent a grovellingly grateful mail Zaphod, but I feel another session of public appraisal is in order. So, thankyou thankyou thankyou, and I wouldn't sell it for $500, let alone $50. Anyway, can't stop now, off to a meeting of the Anarchist, time-wasting, poisoned heart, no-life-so-stop-everyone-else-having-one, anti-fun extremist hatred club, chaired by Joe P. Allegedly. Tattoo Man ------------------------------ Subject: live CDs From: The Bassman Date: Wed, 9 Apr 1997 13:41:02 +0100 (BST) Hiya. I thought the idea of the third disc being one live show had to be dropped. JohnV still has this as part of "option two". Have I missed something? I definitely go for the idea of the third disc being the remaining live tracks left off disc one. (ie like "option three") HOWEVER, I would suggest that the track content of disc #1 should read something like that shown in option two. Why???? Well, in this way, we get more music fitted onto disc #1 (73:02 rather than 69:31). Confused yet?? I hope not. Just another of my little opinions.... TCOY, Mark. From: Dan Merz Date: Wed, 9 Apr 1997 10:31:46 -0400 Hi Gang, Need some help from fellow members about remix of "Take a Look" Alternative version mix.......I need to get a copy of as close to the orginal as possible.......... Mr. Pat Flannagan (which has been a great help I might add) taped me the version, but he said it was a "tape of a tape of a tape..." I assume that this song is not on CD format, but I again would like to get as close to the original source as possible (any help here Eric?) How >about putting together a collection of songs >produced/written/co-written by members of Level42 for other artist? Bad >idea? OK. Sounds like a good idea to me. I can contribute the two songs Mark penned for Rick Astley. I may have some other stuff, but it's not coming to mind right this second. And for the sake of expense, time, etc., let's just do this on cassette, ok? If my dual tape deck was working, I'd certainly volunteer to handle this one, but unfortunately, I can't at this time, but maybe soon. Winston and Doug, I have your Gamalon discs - I listened to half of mine last night and it is just smoking. Doug Dietrich and I have the same first name (which is pretty darn unusual, I haven't run into many Doug's) but we have the same birthday - Nov 15! Although I am 11 years older than he' is. She said "Level 42. My >dad is Boon Gould; my uncle was the drummer!" That's a neat story, but I find it a bit suspicious. First of all, Boon's first child (dunno whether it was a boy or a girl) was born in 1986; (I distinctly remember reading some article in 1986, shortly after their US "World Machine" fame blitz that Boon had gotten married and that his wife was expecting a baby soon. So this girl, if she *is* Boon's daughter, must be 10-11 years old. I don't know how many preteens go out and scope the London club scene, though. Zak, I'm not trying to doubt your brother's integrity :) But if she is considerably older than 10-11 years old, he's been had. THE LEVEL 42 CHATROOM!!! I've put together a chatroom where you can go any time of the day to talk with others from the Digest. This is not an officially sanctioned thing, it doesn't replace the IRC chat on Sundays, it's just a little bonus benefit of belonging to the Digest. To access it, you will need a Java-compatible browser. Your best bet is the latest versions of Netscape (recommended) or Microsoft Internet Explorer (well, ok, it might work). You dweebs that are running Linux, sorry, your version won't work. I have just a few basic rules for this. Please read them and read them again BEFORE you access the chatroom. Basic rules: + This is for the Digest. DO NOT GIVE OUT THE ADDRESS OF THIS CHATROOM! I don't want this to become a haven for 12- year-old dweebies who use the word "kewl" and feel it's their solemn duty to flame everyone in the galaxy. (No offense meant towards any 12-year-old members of the digest, or towards Vince Mora.) + I can't guarantee this will work with your browser, or will be running perfectly at any particular time. + If you want help on how to use the chatroom, there is a link to a FAQ right above the chatroom on the page, please don't email me with questions. + It's a public room, be considerate, don't start flaming people. If someone bothers you, use the ignore feature. + There is a timeout feature. If you're silent for a long period of time, you may get logged off the room. If that happens, just log back on. No problem lurking, just be aware that you can get dumped if you don't talk. It's an automatic thing, I have no control over it. + There's no requirement that you have to talk about Level 42 in this room. However, if there's a primary discussion topic being bounced around, and you want to discuss something totally different with someone else (ESPECIALLY CYBERSEX!!!), please use the private chat function. + If I start getting complaints about people misbehaving, harrassing, hacking, overtly flaming, openly discussing topics considered offensive by most people, etc., I reserve the right to take down the room. Play nicely together, people. I don't mean to be fascist about this -- this is just something I put together as a way to give back to all of you at the Digest. Enjoy it, have fun, and use it whenever you want. Just be considerate of others. We've all seen what can happen when one bad apple hops in the barrel. So, before I give you the address, be sure to re-read the rules, and remember, DON'T GIVE OUT THIS ADDRESS! DON'T POST IT ON L42- RELATED WEBSITES, DON'T POST IT ON USENET, DON'T GIVE IT TO THE KID DOWN THE BLOCK. This is for Digest members, it our own little exclusive chatroom. To chat, go to: http://www.pfpd.com/42chat Have fun, be cool.
