From: Jonathan Playle <101506.1764 @ compuserve.com> Date: Fri, 03 Jan 1997 14:36:49 -0800 Hi all. Just rambling.... One thing that has struck me over the past few digests is the level of community spirit that we have here (even though like myself the majority of subscribers just read each day with interest). With all the quotes that have been embedded in postings, it got me wondering if the guys in the band are aware that this forum exists, and more importantly how it has managed to create this friendly family spirit and affect all of our lives in some form or other, in that the forum has gone much further than just a place for factual discussion for the band. Do you > really thing songs like Freedom Someday and Love in a Peaceful World > could work over here? I'm not buying it. Is it possible that the difference in "mentality" between the US and UK audiences is a product of the different artists and styles that the record companies ALLOW to be exposed to the mass audiences in each country? I've always been bothered that the labels have dictated what will and will not be released in the US. I remember the battles I had to get the first few Midnight Oil albums in the early-mid 80's. Columbia US didn't carry the group and Columbia Australia/New Zealand refused to export the then-controversial group. Things seem to be improving, however. Online music services, fan-pages such as this and even Tower Records make tracking down obscure artists somewhat easier. That said, I can move onto my second question: As a musical group that relates to Level 42 (I believe very much similar in style), has anyone out there heard what ever happened to the group Curiousity Killed the Cat? I only know of two albums by them, their debut (name?) and Get Ahead. I've got both but need the first on CD...plus anything else they've done. 'little help, please! I have the US > release, and I'd really like to get my hands on the UK version so that I > have those tracks that aren't found on the US version (I Sleep On My > Heart, Coup D'Etat.) Its funny that for me the quest for the UK version of World Machine was somewhat easier. I had a copy of World Machine for several years before I heard that there was another (UK) version available. So I went to the stores in search of it. Well, the first store I went to had it or what I thought was it. Turns out the original version I had was the UK version and what I was looking for was, in fact, the much more available US version. I just assumed that since I bought the first one in a mall CD store in the US that I had the US version. But I guess I got lucky and had the UK version the whole time. Now I have both and that goes for a lot of L42 discs. If there is any difference at all between two discs I will pick it up. So now when somebody asks why I have two World Machine discs I can say: You know there is a funny story for that..... Jay in DE ------------------------------ Subject: Say It Ain't So, Joe! From: Winman42 @ aol.com Date: Fri, 3 Jan 1997 11:03:40 -0500 Hello everyone. I have been out sick all week, seem to have caught a bad cold, which ruined my New Year's celebration. (oops, non Level 42 info!) Boy, what a suprise I had when I got back to work today and checked out the digests I have been missing! I can not stop laughing my butt off. To quote a line from the wonderfully funny movie, "The Sandlot" - 'You're Killing Me, Smalls!!" (Oh, geez, there I go again with another non Level post) Personally, I love the digest the way it is. Lot's of great Level talk, with just a hint of other artists. If i haven't done so, thanks a bunch to Eric for starting and maintaining this great Digest! Don't know what I would do without it, since like the rest of you, I dont have a life. Guess you can lump me in the same category as Loz, because i don't have a girlfirend either, but somehow I find the strength to go on living! Oh, by the way, who the $&@ is JOE! Never heard of ya' kid. Then again, my reading comprehension could use a little work. Well, nothng like a common enema, oops, enemy to get the troops working together. Maybe some good things will come out of all this mess. Here is a helpful hint: I hate the radio in NY, I only listen to the local JAZZ station in the morning to get the time and the weather report, and to see if the subways are running smooth. The music sucks, and they seem to play the same darn tunes over and over. Know what i do? I dont listen to it. I listen to my CD's instead. Pretty simple huh? If you don't like something, dont eat, read, use, or touch it! VERY simple. In reading the post from Shuford, It has come to my attention that you have done much to promote the band in the U.S. My hat is off to you for that. Lord knows the band needed as much help as they could get. Always felt they got the short end of Polygram's promo stick. I basically had a small problem with the WAY you wrote your message. It just seemed to be very mean spirited to me. This digest has become a family, and that type of attack just seems unwarranted. I've had a small disagreement with Loz, but I consider him a friend. We have traded tapes back & forth, and cool information. I'm sure all of us can call or fax Crockford if we want. I have no desire to contact him. (heck, why bother when we've got Loz in our corner) I appreciate all the info he and other members provide, but not more or less than anyone's opinion. Loz provides a bit of promotion by getting and providing info, I like to think I do my part by dubbing or taping video and tunes, that some members can't seem to find. It's just fun to share this stuff with other people who enjoy it as much as i do. Ever since I learned about level in 1981 I have been searching for new material. I originally imported records and videos from the U.K. I purchased all of the video product as japanese imports because i couldn't wait until they were released here in the U.S. I would classify myself as 'manic' when it comes to finding a record or LD that i want. I go out of my way to find items, as some of my friends can attest to. I have never joined the level 42 fan club, or tried to contact Crockford, because it just never interested me. I hope that doesn't make me less of a fan. On another note, I was fortunate to hook up with Chuck from tampa while he was home for the Holidays. We stayed up till 2 in the morning watching concerts and blasting Level 42 tunes. It was a blast. Just like when i was able to meet some of the cool folks in Cali. It's just cool being able to talk to others about this great band, without having to explain who they are. I'm still reading today's digest as i write this, and I just came across the 'CD Capacity' post from Jeff Grous. This doesn't interest me in the least. So I skipped it! (see how easy that is?) In response to the 3 singles thread, I think that Love In A Peaceful World would have been a hit in the U.S. Whenever I play that track in my office, everyone wants to know who it is. I have had 4 people in my office purchased the CD because of that song. Great track! I prefer the album version to the the 'old skool remix'. The remix is cool, but it skips the best part of the tune. Comment's anyone? Lastly, Joe, take Mark King's thumb out of your &$% and start posting a little more and try and be a little more appreciative of other's opinions. We are all here because we enjoy the music of Level 42, but perhaps not exclusively. This digest would not be much fun if we all had to worry if people were gonna' blast us for our opinions. Hell, if that were the case, I would never admit to loving 'The Chinese Way' That being said, I realise your infamous post was your opinion, and probably meant with the best intentions, but maybe you should think of other's feeling a little before you start ripping into them. Peace, Winston p.s. enjoy your 15 minutes of fame. ------------------------------ Subject: Cover 42: Level With Me From: Bill Wilson Date: Fri, 3 Jan 1997 08:30:07 -0800 Hello all! unfortunatly, i am not as smart as Eric looks... (= only $10) I would replace the All She Wants version (4:14) with the version I have from the Guaranteed CD5, which is identical to the original version, but it lasts nearly 15 seconds longer (later fade) (4:29). The rest would be unchanged. I could eventually replace the last track with something else (like Tired of Waiting or some Ben Liebrand version of THC or IO) if the buyer already has the Resurgence release of Forever Now. The cover would be a b/w copy of the cover I have (I can include for 1 DM extra a disk (any platform, any format, even Win95's DMF) with a hi-res color scan for those who have a color printer at home so they can print that color cover themselves using that scanned cover included on the disc) Jus'a suggestion! No probs for me, just helping out the desperate ones... I do hope I do not get 200 requests though! Let's say 20 to 30 maximum. If you send me a blank CDR, it only cost ya 45 BEF ($1.5) to cover p&p. What's all this arguing about? It is interesting, though. (I think Joe P.'s a cool dude) Everyone's got a right to express their opinion (oh! we haven't heard that one before) and that's what makes the world machine go 'round. I'm glad people go off on threads occasionally, because I've learned alot about other bands I didn't know about, musical techniques I can apply someday (if I ever get a bass guitar), and other technological oddities (Jeff, thanks, you finally answered the age-old question in my mind about how fast that damned CLV-2 has been spinning ;-) ) Hey, I kid because I love... We've got a great little family going here, and even though I do lead a very exciting life outside the digest (I'll show you if you ever get to Tampa), I look forward to the daily postings, whatever they're about. I hope we didn't scare any of the newbies away (welcome John W., Byrdman, Sari,...) Anyway, on my vacation, I met up with Winston Walker in New York. Let me tell you, Winston is THE MAN. He was generous enough to share with me all of the rare L42 stuff that he has, including the AYGB disk (which I still haven't received yet...ahem, Zaphod/Matthew) We spent hours listening to and viewing all kinds of L42 material. We shared an interest in all kinds of jazz/fusion, and every time I would say, "Do you like...", he would pull out the CD or the DAT and say,"Yep, got that too." Uncanny. It really was great to meet someone in person who shares the same, relatively obscure, musical interests, and this is why I look forward to meeting so many more of you in OKC, even if you are almost 40 years old. See you all soon, Chuck R. -- the only Chuck on the digest (Hey you know this is a great place when you can read a quote from Dr. Nick Riviera) ------------------------------ Subject: LEVEL 42: GUARANTEED ALBUM (the other version) From: pattonse @ plu.edu Date: Fri, 03 Jan 1997 11:34:06 -0800 (PST) I just got my hands on a copy of the original album of Guaranteed the band submitted to Polydor. It is not the same as the one we know! And no wonder Polydor passed. Here are the track listings: 90 DAY GUARANTEED: about a guy that will always be a martyr to your heart, or your money back. POOR HARD DONE BY YOU: later called Overtime. HER PAY DAY: a woman blows her paycheck on a chruchyard in the bushes, even though she knew all along it was wrong. SEVEN SECONDS: tells the story of how long the band was on top in the US. TIE ME UP: S&M themed song with Mike singing "when you look back and see what you have done, oh was it really that much fun, to laugh as you smacked me in the buns." THE CHIMP: later called The Ape, and *then* the song started to make sense. MY MOTHER'S SHOES: originally a more feminant song with "even now I see me walking home in mom's clothes, I'm putting on her make-up, but I wish I had her thighs." A KINDER GENTLER EYE: a strategic move to obtain the sought after US #1 hit by planning to release this single during the Bush Administration. SHE CAN'T HELP HERSELF: a track apologizing for Annie McCaig. IF YOU WERE FINE: sung from the perspective of Stooge Larry Fine, includes the lyrics "I ain't gonna poke you in the eye, just cause you throw a whip cream pie. Even so, I wish that I was Moe." or (alternate joke if you don't like that one) IF YOU AREN'T MINE: Polydor thought that Gary's lyrics needed to be toned down: "I ain't gonna punch you in the eye or slash your throat or burn your house down or follow you around everywhere you go, just cause you tell a crazy lie." LASSO THE MOON: also known as Tie Me Up Part 2. "my hands are strapped down to the bed post in the morning, as a struggle to be released, the madam only stares." WITH A LITTLE DOVE: safe to say Level 42 had gone "commercial" with this track for dishawashing liquid. Look Mike, your soaking in it. and the bonus track: AT THIS LONG DISTANCE: "and by the time I see, my bill from AT&T, there is no more money..........only pennies. At any rate, I know this album would not have sold, but what I would not have given to see a TIE ME UP video with Mike as the gimp. I plan on pickingupthe alternate version of WORLD MACHINE. I'll let you know if there is anything different there when I get it. feels electric to me, Joe ------------------------------ Subject: The Digest From: EMIKATIE @ aol.com Date: Fri, 3 Jan 1997 16:40:05 -0500 Come on gang, It's clear to see what effect Joe P has had on the digest. I think the last edition had over 20 pages of comment!!! Please let the dust settle regarding the digest. If you feel that Joe P insulted you personally, perhaps you should write to him personally. I'd rather Joe P read through 20 pages of comment each day than John M !!! However if you truly feel it to be theruputic, then go ahead. There are good things brewing regarding L42 what with the new releases slated, the CD ROM and CD live projects, the "what singles" from the albums question, the members that have crawled out of the woodwork factor. etc. Maybe Joe P stirred things up for the better. This is similar to a big shake up that large corporations go through. Everyone is bitter for a while but then productivity soars. I think this is what Joe P had in mind. Has anyone heard the new 3CD by Prince? (I still call him that) Now here's a cat with a real funky sound. (Also some real cool bass work). Lastly, yesterdays post was an eye opener regarding Joe P's contributions. Also, what's up with all his posts all of a sudden? I think he's trying to breath new life (not that we are dead) into the digest and if his scathing post of a few days ago got our attention, well he may have accomplished his mission, should we decide to accept it. This tape will self-destruct in....... To Dirkies Regarding the CD ROM project If you're looking for feedback regarding the CD ROM, I say it's a fantastic idea!!! I'm down for one if they do in fact materialize, as well as fronting the money to the "fund" as I did for AYGB. I read your "humble" suggestions and must say it is quite an extensive array. One idea I have is to include the booklet info from all the CDs with all the lyric/photo/artwork/track listing and technical info contained on them. I'll need more time to think up a name of the CD. If anyone is interested, I can get copies of the new Live at Wembley, The Early Tapes, The Pursuit of Accidents, and other titles (I'll have to go back and check on everything they had) on CD for reasonable prices (The Early Tapes was $18.95, for example). These items were brand new, and in some cases they had more than one copy. In that same visit, I was fortunate enough also to find Loz's favourite recording, the 12" of Forever Now with the Porky Rides Again mix! Different breed of cat, but brand new vinyl sounds just as good as CD in some ways, you know? I bit the bullet and traded in my copy of On A Level rather than selling it (Mark Harter, you're too late!) in order to get the 12". Anyway, if anyone is in need of older 42 CDs, drop me an e-mail. Also, can anyone refresh my memory about the upcoming live CD? Are we putting the 3 deleted Physical Presence tracks on it? From: pattonse @ plu.edu Date: Fri, 03 Jan 1997 17:35:34 -0800 (PST) To whom it may concern, I put a post up on December 30 that contained my hopes for the Digest in 1997. I have subscribed to the Digest since September, but have viewed it on a friend's account a year before that, now and again. I had a few problems with the Digest, figured I was entitled to voice up and gave five suggestions that I thought would be worth considering. I made no personal attacks at anyone, and the only person that was mentioned, Loz, I had suggested that perhaps his personal life is something that others don't want to read about and also that if he knows some kind of inside info, then tell us or don't, but don't say you know info and then tell us to wait. I think ANY level 42 fan would understand that they would not want to be kept hanging. But there were no personal or meanspirited jabs at Loz. (NOTE: Please read the Digest from December 30.) Now we move to the Digest from the 31, where about a dozen people proceeded to personally attack me, become offensive, and just plain stupid. Only one person had the tact and maturity to say he disagreed with my sugestions and he DID NOT get personal. Others sent me e-mail supporting my post and agreed with my views. Third, we go to January 1 Digest, where I replied to the near dozen people that attacked me. And then all Hell broke loose. Well I have to tell you guys that if all of you had shown the respect, not agreeance, but just respect for my viewpoints, whether you agreed with some of it or all or none, then my second post would not have happened. But instead of allowing free speech of mine for my first post, everyone elected to get defensive and protective and bullied me. This, while a tad bewildering, did not hurt my feelings, being that one, I don't know any of you, and second, you guys were acting like children. And sometimes, when children slap someone in the face, you slap them back, let them see how they like it, and hope they don't do it to someone else. That is why my second post happened. I wanted to give those of you that responded the same thing you gave me: VENOM, RUDENESS, CHILDNESS, and INSULTS. And as I saw in the January second post, you guys didn't like it at all. So instead of blaming me for being some kind of ass, why not take a second look as to what you all did? Now some of you have e-mailed me directly, for whatever reason, I never posted I wanted responses to my post, after all, it was just something to think about, take it or leave it (first post that is). But after I simply gave back some of what those in question had been dishing out, I received rude and downright nasty e-mails. So, in return, I dished it right back. And to insure it stopped there, I let it be known that if any e-mail was sent, it would not be read but deleted on the spot. And I have done just that. So don't waste time e-mailing me about this if you've been one of the people writing crap to me before, cause I know who you are. And as far as the Digest goes, I have elected to skip any post that has my name in it or if it is something I can tell is about me. But even still, it amazes me that there are still so many posts with my name in it. So even though I had no intention of writing anymore regarding this matter, I feel this letter will clear it all up once and for all, regardless of how close-minded some readers may be. And for those of you writing posts negatively about me, like EMIKATIE, before you even have read my original post, and then turn around apologize after reading it - my advice to the ones not involved directly: READ it before you go throwing in your opinion. Make sure you have as many pieces as possible. I have seen a clear pattern of people jumping on the I hate Joe P. bandwagon without even knowing why, except that everyone else is, so therefore I must be up to no good. At any rate, this is the LAST time (hooray) that I will address anything. So go ahead andx6m_d[ ------------------------------ Subject: once and for all... From: pattonse @ plu.edu Date: Fri, 03 Jan 1997 20:27:19 -0800 (PST) To Whom it May concern: Before reading the following post, note that: I AM NOT READING POSTS WITH MY NAME OR INFERENCES ABOUT ME LABELLED I AM DELETING ALL E-MAIL ADDRESSED TO MY BOX BEFORE IT IS READ (this applies solely to people that have decided recently to be obnoxious, point being, if you are one, don't waste your time, cause I ain't reading them) I WILL NOT BE DISCUSSING THIS MATTER ANY FURTHER (hooray!) Here goes: DEC 30 - I put a post up on the Digest that contains my thoughts as to how the Digest might be better, in my opinion, in 1997. I made no personal attacks to anyone. When it comes to Loz, I merely stated that there are those on this Digest that don't care to hear about his personal love life on a Digest and that he might want to give it thought. Also, I told him that if he knows something info wise, to share it or don't, but don't leave us hanging. I think any rational person can read this post and see that there was no reason for people to get rude. they may disagree with what I said, and they have that right and I respect that, but attacks are out of line. Which brings me to: DEC 31 - the Digest is filled with 9 people responding to my post. All but one of them are vile. Filled with anger, insults, and flat out stupidity, these were not people merely disagreeing. this was an out and out attack of crazy proportions. I was being misquoted, told to get off the Digest, told I haven't posted before, and on and on. None of these comments were relative to the point. If you were one that disagreed, then make your point and all is well and good. But to attack me personally was out of line and led to: JAN 1 - I responded to the 9 of you on the Digest. And I out and out attacked you back. Childish? Consider this: sometimes when a child slaps, if you slap back, they don't like it, think about what they've done, and don't do it again to you or someone else.Don't take anything from the analogy beyond that ( I don't advocate slapping kids ) but my point is I wanted you guys to know how it felt. those of you that responded with spite (the 8 of you) had what you got coming. None of you could stick to what was said by me, but rather twist what I said around and throw insults around like M&Ms. So I gave it right back to you. But your reasoningwas flawed time and time again. Example: I originally pointed out that if people have a private matter, they should mail it in private. Then you guys went and assaulted me on the Digest, so you got *it* back on the Digest. fair is fair. But then some of you started saying that I was a hypocrite for attacking you guys on the Digest instead of mail. It don't work that way. You want to try to flip me crap in public, you'll get it back in public. Also, when it comes to Loz, let's be fair. For those of you that enjoy listening to his personal love life again and again, there are those of us who don't want to. I got responses from my first posts saying the same thing I said. Also, when I was at the Levelfest in Seattle, this point was brought up too, by *more* than one person. Just as vaild as any others of you on the Digest. If Loz is going to talk about his life on the Net, it only makes sense there will bethose that wish he wouldn't. It doesn't mean he can't or myself or someone else should try to stop him, but rather that I for one (and others) don't care for it. My opinion, my right to speak it. I did not make an attack on him in my first post. Another thing that was twisted around. Finally: JAN 2: a bunch of newbees to the situation that had NOT read the posts but rather went off of what the 8 were vipering about, joined the bandwagon of insults. and it seems all of them combined just could not *believe* what that Joe Parrington was doing pissing all over the Digest. And how can this be that he is so mean? And we don't Eric kick him off? As I said before, get informed: READ THE DIGESTS FOR THESE FOUR DAYS AND DISCOVER THE FACTS OF WHAT REALITY IS. In the end, it is sad that everyone seemed to skip over the issue of what I originally stated, and decided instead to make this personal. There have been several letters of support for me from people on the Digest that have e-mailed me. Maybe they don't have the gumption right now to say anything in public. Maybe you will be hearing from some of them soon. (NOTE: I sent one of the e-mails of support to Eric to post, and he elected not to. Granted I sent it to his mail, and he told me it should go straight to the post as opposed to him, and I told him that I knew that, but I wanted him to read it himself, then post it, and he did not. This was not an issue of time or principle because I didn't send it straight to the Digest. It was an issue that it was a clear letter of support for Joe Parrington. You see, Eric could have printed it if he wanted to, forwarded it I mean, I even sent him another letter from this guy giving me the okay to print it. But alas no post today. Eric could have bent for me and done it by forwarding my forward to him on the Digest itself. Afterall, reagarding my post about stuff FOR SALE, he wrote me last night, before the Digest even went out, before any of you would get a chance to have a chance at it. THAT is taking advantage of his situation and position and my point is he could have posted that for you last Digest if he chose to. It seems he is selective though on what he wants out there. Censorship? Hmmmmm. Which ever the way, it *still* is worth going over the facts again, i.e. READ those old Digests above, rather than raking someone over the coals with untruths and misinformation. Really truely, it is ironic and fragrantly hypocriful to slam me for my viewpoint AND for defending myself after being attacked and instead make pointless commentary about what you all may think about my tact. My point, get in my shoes before you through out some bullshit philosophy that is full of holes before you drown in the hole you make for yourself. (Those of you who don't apply, ignore this) Remember that there are other people, 400 plus on this Digest, and not all have the same feeling this Digest is heading in the righ tdirection. They have the right to believe differently, and if you think you have the right as well, well then don't be a hypocrite. My contribution from this point out on the Digest will be a regular post called PARRINGTON'S POINT (and don't worry, it will always be about Level 42 and ONLY be my opinion. btw, please enjoy or not my post today about GUARANTEED. it might be good fo ra laugh of two for you) :) So my only apology lies in the fact that I even bothered to give suggestions in an environment where the natives are restless, rude, and happy with the status quo to the point that anyone with a different angle gets dog piled on. ------------------------------ Subject: the missing post in support of Joe P. From: pattonse @ plu.edu Date: Fri, 03 Jan 1997 20:48:27 -0800 (PST) Here's what Eric didn't would not forward to the Digest after I sent it to him. Now I'm sure somewhere around here, he's going to put some little "clever" ED note about this, but he could have just as easily forwarded this to you guys likeI asked him to, just as easily as he chose to send people choice quotes of things I had replied to individuals whom it did not concern. Also just as easy as he went over all of your heads and tried to ge first dibs on the stuff FOR SALE by abusing his position as administrator. But once again, he pulled a HE MAN POWER PLAY and got selective. (Joe note - shame on you Eric. it is indeed quite transparent of you :) At any rate, here's to censorship! ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Thu, 02 Jan 1997 11:31:21 -0500 (EST) From: Chris Safsten To: pattonse @ plu.edu Subject: No Subject Thank you for your last digest post. I enjoyed your post when you explained to Loz that he should either tell or not tell. I was getting tired of listening to him as well about his girfriend woes. I appreciated the way you handled everyones replys to your post and actually smiled most of the way through. I hope that you are not planning on leaving the digest, because I have a feeling that there are others out there that share your same point of view. Your ideas were eloquently said and elegantly made! Plus, you can't quit the digest--I hear their going to be talking about their favorite KISS albums next week, it should be a goody! (I too, think that Level42 needs to be the focal point of the digest, not a catch all for those who do not want to frequent other digests of interest!) Have a great day and keep up the work! Anyone else out there from Generation Why... erhm, Gen Y? From Lars-Ove: > And something in exotic swedish: s=E5 var 1997 =E5r r=E4ddat, fler Level > 42 skivor som jag bara m=E5ste ha. Hmm. It looks especially exotic that way. ;) Obligatory Level 42 Content: Found a rather amusing Web page entitled Deep Thought (http://www.empirenet.com/personal/dljones/index.html) that's dedicated to the metaphysics of the number 42. They have a huge list of "42 Sightings" that, of course, includes our four heroes -- they made #6 in the Media list. ("6. There was/is an English band called "Level 42" which was actually inspired by HHGTTG") Under Miscellaneous, though, was this listing: > 23. There is a Night Club in Johannesburg, South Africa, named Level 42, > after HHGTTG. Coincidence or conspiracy? :) Can anyone confirm this? tcoy, Jenn G. ------------------------------ Subject: Those Amusing Yanks From: ByrdLvl42 @ aol.com Date: Sat, 4 Jan 1997 00:45:21 -0500 Byrdman here, posting again from my remote and desolate mountain paradise with some PUBLIC responses, to some recent notes. Sure, I could problaly make some of these posts private, but hey, "I love you, man!" and I want the world to know it :-). Besides, I want to catch up on my Email writing this weekend while I'm watching the Denver/Jacksonvile game (Go Broncos!!!) Answer "Ho!" when your name is called: ERIC H.: Thanks for indulging me yesterday. It feels good to get that poetic, philosophical crap out in the open. Great little digest you got yourself, by the way. Web page, too! I got a suggestion for your gallery, how about cover art? I loved the cover of "Pursuit of Accidents" that I scanned, blew it up, and made it a poster. Maybe other people would like to download the same? (Just a suggestion...) LARS-OVE K (The Nordic God): Do you remember saying: > Someone mentioned they once liked Spandau Ballet, I hope you've got the > Prince's Trust Concert 1989 where Level 42 backs Spandau Ballet on two > tracks. That was me, buddy boy, and if you got that bit on tape somewhere to send, there will be a Klingon opera written in your name. DIRK About your idea for a L42 CD-ROM: > A. how should the CDROM be called Defunct CD ROM Cover Names: "World Machine"? (Too obvious, mate) "World Wide Web Machine"? (Passe', try again) "A Web Presense" (Say again?) "Micro-Kids"? (Has a sort of McDonaldland feel to it, makes me think of "Gap-Kids") "Staring at the Screen" (Thats not funny, even on our side of the Atlantic) "So Long and Thanks for All the Songs" (Too cryptic, need to read Adams to get it) "In Pia's Eye's" (Mark sure can pick 'em, can't he?) "Of Cafes and Cadillacs" (Think about it for a second, then laugh) JOSEPH N. SMITH L42 on Video? What a novel idea! Sign me up for a few, son. (Expect a PERSONAL email to that effect.) As a matter of fact I am easily impressed, as well as easily amused (Somedays I just sit and listen to the same L42 song over, and over, and over.... ;-) ) Where can I get some of these German 'adult' movies of which you speak? (Just kidding, fans). By the way, just because he's real hairy, does that not make Robin Williams a Wookie? (*ow, come on! Did that Joe thing kill everyone's sense of humor?*) Anyway, I guess that means that need to look that definition on the Search engine as well, huh? :-) NEWBIES: 'Allo, 'allo, 'allo, 'allo, 'allo!!!! Love ya, don't change a thing. See yall at OK!!! JOE P. How's it going, maddog. Well, remember what Chuck D said so well "You got to fight the powers that be!" Anyway, I would love to get my hands on those CD's and that Bass Player mag. Expect a personal E-Mail, with the details. JASON BELL I haven't even been introduced, yet I feel I know ya well! I have a Sony D-5A (SECOND oldest CD player I think!). It has problems with the really long CDs. I bought it in 1984 or something so I could buy all the Level 42 CDs that were out at the time. Their albums weren't around on vinyl but were plentiful as German import CDs. I guess I can adjust the tracking til I'm InfraRed in the face but it still won't like the outer tracks. Glad I bought that $40 Lenoxx at Walmart when I went to the States last summer! Lenoxx - now, that's a quality product destined to last 12 years! :-)
