The guys have not been forgotten......... Cool! Congrats! I can imagine you being disappointed that you didn;t win any Level material, but hey, The Rock is a pretty cool movie, isn't it? You know, recently it seems that our heroes get played more often on the radio over here. A few days ago I heard Level 42 3 times in 2 days! They played Hot Water and It's Over (3FM) and Leaving Me Now (538), and it just made my... week! Question. Usually I can quite easily figure out what abbrevations mean, such as for instance HIMH of LMN or RITF. However I can't figure out what the hell "TTFN" means. Anyone? About that Mark - Wang Chung thing, I thought Mark had said that he didn't want to be in a band anymore? It would be pretty cool though, even if it was to be a collaboration for just one song! OK, well, that's it for the moment, see y'all later! The Mighty Maomoondog mm95 @ worldonline.nl "You got the BFG9000! Wang-King? Wanking? Wanker? HELLLLLOOOOOO????? Perhaps it would have been more obvious to us Americans (at least) if the proposed rename was "Chung King"--yes, like the Chinese food products manufacturer. By the way, Wang Chung already has a bassist. Pathetic! But now for some REAL news... I was on the Isle of Wight all this weekend staying with my girlfriends parents in Cowes. It was about 3.00pm on Sunday afternoon when I came across the following quite incredible article in the Property section of the Isle of Wight County Press dated Friday 6th June 1997. See what you make of this ! "THE ISLAND home of locally born pop star Mark King is up for sale with an asking price of more than half a million pounds. Agent Savills is asking for offers around #550,000 for Westwood House at Wootton, an impressive Edwardian country house set back in its own grounds with lovely views over the Solent. Westwood House dates back to about 1910 and Savills description of the accommodation as spacious is something of an understatement. It has a reception hall, four reception rooms, seven bedrooms, and five bath/shower rooms and a host of other facilities. It has been lovingly modernised but a wealth of original features have been retained, including some fine fireplaces and stained glass in the art nouveau style and some elaborately moulded ceilings. The grounds are said to be a particular feature of the property, especially the formal garden with its sunken ornamental pond and overall it stands in attractive grounds of about 6.6 acres. The founder of Level 42 converted a building on one side of the house as a recording studio." Just what is going on with MK at the moment? I have a copy of the article (with photo) for anyone who would like their own copy. Talk about the ultimate Level 42 collectible, perhaps it should go on the LevelADS page. Or perhaps we should club together and buy it - #1000 each ? ... Dream On! Randall mentioned Jimmy Earl earlier, and also mentioned the sound of his set-up (i.e. similar in places to that of MK). Well, an additional piece of info tha may/may not be of interest, is that Jimmy is/was the live bass player for Stanley Clarke (yes, really!). JE used to play the low stuff whilst Stanley went off on his piccolo bass... Now, we all know Mark's attachment to Stan, and no doubt JE learnt some tricks too, so there y'are... Interesting news about Wang Chung/MK. Kind of a one-hit wonder though, weren't they? Enough. From: J Shuford Date: Sun, 8 Jun 1997 22:45:08 -0700 (PDT) A question for all of you who are fans of Average White Band and Incognito. Have any of you noticed that there's a guitar part in the Incognito song "Roots" that mirrors the guitar part in AWB's "Pick up the Pieces"? John Shuford Department of Philosophy University of Oregon Eugene, OR 97403-1295 (541) 346-1054 shuf @ darkwing.uoregon.edu [I didn't think of that before, but I easily hear it now. Also, speaking of the new funk, I picked up the new Brand New Heavies CD "Shelter" the other day, and I must say it is very groovin. Alot of noticable traditional funk influences are present, such as P-Funk on "You Can Do It", and some Lorber Fusion on "Once Is Twice Enough."
