I also more of a sequential order as opposed to a jumping around, why not document the progression/regression of the touring bands ? That is far more interesting to have than an absurd "what if". Anyway, keep up the stellar work John (I trust you) ! ..jay ------------------------------ Subject: Children Say What?! From: Will Greer Organization: Elmore's Tamale Factory Date: Sun, 01 Jun 1997 12:47:39 -0500 > The best 42-video has to be "Children Say". Great parisian atmosphere, and > two VERY relaxed musicians. It's a pity Phil didn't make it to the > videoshoot... You think?! I thought that video looked very thrown together, like something they did to fulfill a contract obligation. Plus, there are no instruments at all in the video, if I remember right. One reason I like videos is that they allow me to see the artist playing, see how he/she stands and moves, and how he/she addresses the instrument. I always prefer actual live footage to anything choreographed, but a good "performance video" is the next best thing to me. -- -Will "This sesame seed is bigger than my head" ------------------------------ Subject: ... I am excited with anticipation of the new disc (s). To have someone as wonderful as John V looking out for our interests is absolutely fabulous. To have someone with the creative juices, ability, and time, within our brotherhood and sisterhood? is a remarkable thing. I CAN'T WAIT to HEAR what he has come up with on the planned disc. I wouldn't change one thing with it (except for the release date) . I said it before and will say it again, I wish I had to ability to contribute more to the projects than just being a mere customer. I may start calling John V, SIR JOHN V. I offer John all my support. I think his revised idea for the disc is a real gem. And I mean that!!! The machine stops. John M (the lesser) but wait....... All of the contributors also deserve a round of applause. Without the contributors, John V would have nothing to do. Is there really > that much turnover? My assumption is that the number of subscribers to the Digest drops around the end of May, due largely to the end of the academic year. Students are leaving school for summer break, and they either intentionally unsubscribe from the list, or their schools' CIS departments delete their accounts. Any other list managers or university sysadmins care to comment on this? As for "turnover", things really seemed to have "levelled" off (!) as far as the number of subscribers to the Digest. I typically make a refUSENET posting every couple of months to promote the Digest (and my other lists, too - Go West Digest and Incognito Digest), but I haven't done it lately because it advertises us as a valid destination for spam (even though 99.44% of spam is filtered automatically.) Each day, there are probably anywhere from 0 to 5 unsubscribe requests (or auto-unsubscribes, in the event that an email address is no longer valid for four consecutive Digest mailings). It follows that, on average, there are roughly the same number of new subscriptions each day. -Eric -- Eric J. Reddick" Date: Mon, 2 Jun 1997 03:09:27 -0500 (CDT) Now I'm miserable 'cos the discussion is on to something that I know nothing about: L42 vids! I remember seeing them do TCW on TOTP, LMN, SAY, LIL, and RITF, and the whole "Live At Wembley" video. I haven't seen one video past RITF! I saw "Family of Five" at the Blockbuster Video on Guadalupe in Austin once, and that's about it. Never bothered checking it out. I was amazed to learn that MTV showed some vids from SATS... I'm thinking it must have been MTV Europe, 'cos on my MTV, you might catch a L42 vid (SAY) on one of VH-1's "Big 80s" shows. I did see LIL on MTV proper back in '87. Yes, it was pretty much cacky... Any other readers had any other similar experiences!!!! (Learn > to Say No). I thought I was alone!!! The first time I heard this I thought "Wow"!!! This is Soooooo Cool!!!" I know exactly what you mean Bill. I too had only heard the K-Klass Remix....which I thought was pretty poor. This DEFINITELY should have been released as a single. It has everything!!!! Which begs a question..........If a song is that good, why try and Remix it. Too many songs these days get in the hands of so called Cool DJs and 9 times out of Ten, their remix is CRAP! Ok, Alot of the 42 remixes were good, by I prefer to hear the original LEVEL 42 IN THEIR ORIGINAL FORM!!!!!!! Not an interpretation of them. BTW, I picked up another L42 compilation on Saturday that until then I had never seen!!! It was simply called Level 42 - The Master Series - Polydor. It was in the Bargain Section of HMV. Others in there were WM, RITF and Level Best. I don't know about you guys, but it always makes me a little sad when I see L42 in the Bargain Bin!! ------------------------------ Subject: RE: Level42 Digest V97 #151 From: Jonathan Doody Date: Mon, 2 Jun 1997 01:37:11 -0700 Bonneville Mark writes:- > I have the Resurgence issue of FN which does not contain the track "All > Over You".
