Well, I did mean the videos for the singles. However popular L42 were in The Netherlands (and they were) I do not recall seeing _ANY_ "RCA" video on (Dutch) television. I know the "Guaranteed live" video exists and even saw a little bit of it on the LowLandsLevelFeest, and I hope to make a copy of it some day soon (Maarten, ben je daar nog ? ;) ) Anyway, the videos are already on their way to me, on NTSC format, but I will take care of converting it to PAL. I Well basicly the frequency range has been further extended and now will go up to 19 kHz, instead of the 18 kHz of 4.0. And yes they have put in some effort since the D/A convertor is said to be _VERY_ good. And it has switchable filters too ! And a DIGITAL recording level setting. > I hope the new MD player is priced way out of sight. That way, I don't > have to worry about that. I feel for you, ToMaZ. Here are some L42 tunes that can keep me out of a bad mood: "Turn It On" ("Level 42," 1981) "The Pursuit Of Accidents" and "The Chinese Way" ("The Pursuit Of Accidents," '82) "The Chant Has Begun" ("True Colours," '84 -- also on US version of "World Machine," '85) "World Machine" (title track, '85) "Heaven In My Hands" ("Staring At the Sun," '88) "Take Care Of Yourself" ("Level Best," '89) "Set Me Up" ("Guaranteed," 1992 -- sorry, Lolita) You can pick and choose -- unfortunately for me, around Long Island, area record chains like Tower and The Wall only have "World Machine" and "Running In the Family." Whatever you do, stay away from "It's Over." See you later, alligator. Don't forget -- turn your sunbed on. Dave P.S.: Non-L42 pick-me-up song of the week: "Black Man" by Stevie Wonder, from "Songs In the Key of Life." Makes me proud to be a black man. And you can groove to it. P.P.S.: Lolita -- about the hair thing -- what was your take on Mike's hair when he had it practically mowed off for the "Take Care of Yourself" video? Thought his hairline was gonna do a Mark King. :) ------------------------------ Subject: Re: Level42 Digest V97 #108 From: Jdelsav @ aol.com Date: Sun, 20 Apr 1997 12:51:07 -0400 (EDT) Chris Remington, > Education: B.A.-- St. Norbert College, Master of Science in Administration > -- University of Notre Dame Just graduated from ND last December w/ my B.B.A Dan ------------------------------ Subject: TOMAZ...help on the way!! I know I haven't actually "talked" to you before....but knowing what you're going through....I would definitely recommend these for your pick-me-up: 1) Take Care of Yourself 2) Heathrow (ok no lyrics but there's real energy there!) 3) Starchild (no particular reason....I just like the song) 4) Cosmic Girl - Jamiroquai (from Travelling Without Moving) 5) Drifting Along - Jamiroquai (from Travelling Without Moving) HEY THEY WORKED FOR ME!!!! I received my album just the other day and I must say that it is done as well (or better) than any professional. Thank you fo helping out us more unfortunate Levellers who haven't had the luck finding such rare treasures. Thanks again!!;-) Troy A. Great to see Jan Hammer mentioned (my all time reason for picking up the synth) Thomas Dolby and William Orbit as well. There are so many others to mention too: Hans Zimmer, Vince Clarke, Howard Jones, Tony Banks, Bruce Hornsby, Phil Oakey, Martyn Ware, etc... But I have seen one of the best live....Now before many of you laugh, listen to this.... YANNI gets my vote for one of the most amazing keyboard players....If you saw him live or saw the Live At The Accropolis video you will agree....Just watch him play. When he plays with just one hand, he does the equivalent of air guitar with the other hand, playing out the next part of the song WHILE playing the current part... AND staying together with a full orchestra..... That's not too shaby...Many of you may mock his music, but when it comes to bare bones, non sequenced live performing, YANNI takes the cake..... Sequencing....well, that's another story all together.... paul [I don't know too much about Yanni, but how would you compare him with Jean-Michel Jarre or Vangelis? (both virtuoso synthesists that are also known for their "epic" performances) -Eric] ------------------------------ Subject: Re: HELP!! Thank you Hmm...for maximum pickup, grab a six-pack of World Machine and hang on. Also, try Overtime, Sunbed Song, Dream Crazy, S.A.Y of course, Children Say, Heaven In My Hands, Micro Kid, Return of the Handsome Rugged Man, Can't Walk You Home. If none of that works, you probably need to listen to It's Over instead. Zak Nilsson Xaqtly Music http://www.primenet.com/~xaqtly ------------------------------ Subject: My Level 42 collection. From: DonZipf @ aol.com Date: Mon, 21 Apr 1997 01:24:08 -0400 (EDT) Hey, all! Since Zaphod had asked me what titles I owned to determine why I seemed to have eight more than he knew existed on CD (26 vs. 18), I did an inventory and sent him the results. Here it is with catalog numbers for anyone wishing to compare or research (note - these include what I consider to be "Level 42-related" titles, including singles). Three other things: 1. Zap, I found my missing LaW '89 disc (whew!) - sorry if I alarmed anyone. 2. I just ordered RITF Platinum Edition, WM (Europe), & the new remix CD, bringing this list's total to 29 discs. 3. Can anyone confirm the existence of a Boon Gould solo album? Thank you Not really, when my wife left me a year and a half ago, I found I couldn't listen to a lot of L42 album. There's always a song I couldn't listen too on my favourite albums, Leaving Me Now, It's Over etc. But at least I can listen to them now. There are a lot of L42 songs that cheers me up though, not the texts but the music. Almost all upbeat songs, HIMH, Hot Water etc. I'm sure there are songs that the others will tell you helps. /Lars-Ove e-mail: love @ iar.se --- And I won't take no souvenirs No perfumed picture promises Because it's over And I ain't coming back Level 42 - It's Over ------------------------------ Subject: Re: Track Order From: Tony Bassette Date: Mon, 21 Apr 1997 11:23:22 +0200 (MET DST) On Sun, 20 Apr 1997, EMIKATIE wrote: > Regarding the CD's and the track order: > > I ALWAYS hit the shuffle button on my CD player and scramble the songs. > That way, I never get the same CD sequence twice.
