I have ordered Chapman's book and am > currently a bass/keyboard/guitar player. I would appreciate the advice. I'M HERE, I'M HERE look, look. Stick is my main instrument now. It's a shame I forgot to take my camera to The Copse's session on Friday, you should have seen his face! First, well done on the purchase, now you have the task of learning bits. It doesn't happen overnight, but it easier than most bassists think. Be patient and take your time, and if you feel you're getting nowhere don't go back to the guitar for five minutes, keep plugging at the Stick. Once you get your left hand (bass side) sorted out concentrate on the melody strings, it takes time but it's certainly worth it. If you want any help over the net I would be glad to help (I'm in England), it might be worth Emailing me at my private address and not clog up the digest (unless anybody wants to hear a running commentary). Just one little hitch, I need to know how to do it! :-( Thanks, Winston ------------------------------ Subject: HI! from Argentina (South America, you know) From: ser Date: Sat, 11 Jan 1997 16:39:56 -0300 Hello! Everyone!!! Here is a FAN of LEVEL 42, an older one ( 31 years ). I want to know, if there are some fans who speaks spanish, are there??? . All of you will have to excuse my english, not so good. I just find this place, and i'm so happy. Here in Argentina, you don't find too much people who like's LEVEL42. Only DJs knows the band ( and the only theme that they know is RUNNING IN THE FAMILY). It's go to know, that there are many people fans off this band. My friends don't understand why i like so much to hear, again and again, LEVELS themes. In the car, when i go to walk or at wok with my walkman; inside my house, my family ( wife and childrens ) get mad. They are tired to hear the same music all the time. But, not me!! I really think is the best music i've ever hear!!! Well, have a HAPPY NEW YEAR all of you! BYE, BYE!!! PD: Here are some questions... 1) The band, is out??? 2) Mark King, has only one SOLO album???? 3) It's there some e-mail directly to someone of the band??? Thank's Sergio Iriarte EMAIL: iriarte @ netverk.com.ar ------------------------------ Subject: Kevin Gilbert From: Jwall6653 @ aol.com Date: Sat, 11 Jan 1997 15:53:16 -0500 (EST) Hey Folks, I was finally able to locate a copy of Kevin Gilbert's "Thud" and must say that I really love it. The song Shadow Self is everything good about music and if Kevin could leave any legacy behind this cd does him proud. I would highly recommend it to everyone who enjoyed Toy Matinee. (Maybe this is old news to evryone). In yesterdays digest I couldn't believe someone actually mentioned Gentle Giant! I can't recall who it was now but would that person let me know if anything after "Free Hand" has been released on cd. I would love to have some of the later stuff on disc. One of my favorite Gentle Giant albums is "Missing Piece" and I also like "Civilian" quite a bit. I kind of have my doubts that I will ever find them. A quick note to John (Emikatie), I started making your tape and discovered that my junk Pioneer tape machine does not work anymore. I'm going to go out tonight and buy a real one and I'll be back on the project.. By the way here in Ohio we're paying for the warm weather we had at Xmas... It's FREEZING.. See Ya, John Wallace ------------------------------ Subject: Crystal Palace .. and other thangs .. From: "Mark Hughes" Date: Sat, 11 Jan 1997 23:25:57 -0000 Dear All, 1. Did anyone in the Digest go to the Crystal Palace OpenAir gig where the boys played on the same stage as Squeeze, Gary Clail ( who? ), etc ?? Just wanted to know what people thought about it. This wasn't my favourite concert ( Hammersmith Odeon was.. ) but just asking .. 2. I asked AGES ago about a Level 42 promo copy of 'Standing in the Light' which had a 12 inch square photo of the original boys, Mark wearing a suit with a 'mask' t-shirt underneath .. any ideas on this ?? Has anyone seen this ?? It has an inlay quoting dealer prices, etc ( £5.25 dealer price for the CD !! ) 3. No-one else got any spare Level 42 stuff for the LevelADS page ? No swaps, etc ? Please see the link below and SURELY we can find something to put on the page - even if it's copies of VHS rare recordings ? Lets use this - I'd hate to have to put a BORINGNOUSETOANYONE kinda page .. 4. What about the 'burnt' CDs ? I guess maybe it might not be a wise idea to put the details on the LevelADS page .. 5. Esprit .. a UK company have now got their Level 42 wares on the LevelADS page .. They are not being charged for this so feel free to ask for discount !! Dunno if you'll get it but it's worth a try !! They do have a web page on the net but I am trying to keep the LevelADS page full of just that .. 6. Thanks for your support on viewing the LevelADS page and the emails... any comments or suggestions - SEND 'EM IN !! See y'all !!
