Seems they have a lot in common (poor, poor busy students)...let them sit around and spam each other all day. You know, people who do this crap should be drug out and beaten with the new Telecommunications Bill. --Amanda ------------------------------ Subject: Level 42 rarities From: mixmaster @ mistral.co.uk (Mark Hughes) Date: Sun, 4 Feb 1996 19:55:31 GMT Hiya guys and gals Due to problems with CompuServe, my mail needs to be directed to 'mixmaster @ mistral.co.uk' regarding the doubles that I have. As well as the obvious hard to get hold of 12" singles, I have various 'promo' 12" + 7" singles ( including Royal 1 ), a couple of DMC megamixes ( NOT bootlegs! ), and a VERY interesting item of which I have only the ONE copy of - 'Standing in the light' dealer promotion copy which is in a clear gatefold sleeve with an album-sized photo of the band in which Mark is wearing his mask tee-shirt which is COMPLETELY different to the CD cover that I have here at home .. ANYONE HAVE ANY CLUES ON THIS ?? The album is a white label promo ( with the traditional '1' on the a side .. and .. you guessed it, '2' on the b side .. Bad lyric of the day - 'Been in this grass here for the last 10 hours .. .. my clothes are dirty but my mouth isn't dry' Duran Duran - Sound of thunder :) ------------------------------ Subject: Re: another mailing list spam! Does anyone know of services on the Net that send faxes from email for a small fee? I suggest we fill up their hard drive with the message "ELLEN FOX: DO NOT SPAM INTERNET MAILING LISTS" ... Dan Fire...the heart of history ------------------------------ Subject: L42 airplay... From: BUNTON Date: Sun, 04 Feb 1996 14:23:49 -0500 hey guys...well one of the local stations here WZPL does a "retro drive at 5" on fridays, and they play chart topping hits from the 80's. well they played "Something about you", well I called and told theme they needed to acquired "forever now" or "Guaranteed" and play the releases off those albums... well the DJ transfered me to the programmer and he told me to come in and see him about getting these albums for thier playlist...(wierd eh?).anyway they said that they would try to work some of L42's music in! They didn't know what had happened to the band in 1994(that they broke up) or that they had even released anything besides "Something about you" and "Lessons in ;l ove".. so they said that they would try to acquire some of these CD's if I would come in and talk to him next week.... So if any of you get around Indianapolis, Indiana...tune into 99.5 and maybe we will hear some newer L42 stuff on the airwaves... From: jotes @ t-online.de (jotes) Date: Mon, 5 Feb 96 01:48 +0100 hello girls and boys, i went to see marla glen in sold-out-concert in the berlin 'arena' last night. whow! it was soooo fffffffffffffffffffffffunky !!!!!!! you cannot imagine.. the first part was more blues and soul but the second part went to what is called 'acid jazz'-style nowadays and became a superb totally funky session with absolute brilliant solo-parts in it. alexander from dresden: ich weiss nicht, wo die gute marla noch auftritt, aber falls du die moeglichkeit hast, noch eine karte zu ergattern, lass es dir auf gar keinen fall entgehen! ok, just a little 'puttin' on the fritz'..(sorry!) angel wrote: >jan, when you get freedom a go-go, you must listen to it while driving (..)< yeah, i'd love to put it into my car-cd-player and turn it on until the windshield blows away, but WHERE CAN I GET IT????? is/was it available on a cd-single or if not is anyone able to copy it on tape 26 times each side for me..? please...! smashie (what a smashing name btw.) said that he/she needed some plays before he/she liked guaranteed or changes. that happened to me with every new lft-release which was quite strange at first because i was afraid i wouldn't like the albums. but after listening to it 15 - 31 times they became more and more familiar to me until i loved them. in opposite to that, when i listen to a top-of-the-pops-song the first time and think 'hmm, not bad..' it takes 5 - 6 plays until i can't stand it anymore. cd-ever? i ordered a forever now (+4 -3 %7 =15)cd at cd-now in november '95. at the end of december the manager sent me a mail that he's terribly sorry but they were not able to get it on stock until then. so i placed my order again and the day before yesterday my order was cancelled again because they couldn't get it on stock. what do they mean? something like: 'please don't try to buy anything at cd-now again', or what? as i read many of you got their cd's in the meantime, so how can i get one? what have i done wrong? what came to my mind while reading the different kind of polls in this digest: what about a 'best-lft-lyric-poll'? the idea is that everyone tells his/her favorite lyric or part of a song and (maybe) a short explanation why. it should not have the character of 'which is the mostliked lyric?', just to see which songs tell us what. what do you think about that? ok, that's it for now, tschuess, jan 8-) (try my best - for nothing every little thing i do is wrong..) ------------------------------ Subject: A resurgence of interest..... From: Fabfriday @ aol.com Date: Sun, 4 Feb 1996 19:23:09 -0500 When the RCA UK version of Forever Now came out, I ordered it straight away. I enjoyed it, but it didn't totally grab me. I DID place All Over You and The Sunbed Song in my college radio rotation. Then, about a month ago I found the Resurgence version, and listened to it. I like this version much better, and can't seem to put it down. My only complaint is the omission of All Over You. True, many of you have heard the new songs on this version as B-sides before, so they are not entirely new. I'd have to say out of the 2 versions I have, this is the better. For those of you waiting to get the Resurgence version, GET IT!!!!! Now, what's the latest on the US version of Forever Now? Will it be available in stores or through special order? Are there any plans to release singles from the album? Ellen, I'd thank you for not taking up huge amounts of the digest with completely eroneous messages in future. This is the second time the digest has been cluttered up with unsolicited rubbish like this, if you really must advertise on the digest then how about a VERY brief message followed by a contact e-mail address for further information FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE INTERESTED... From: Kirith @ aol.com Date: Mon, 5 Feb 1996 01:39:24 -0500 Was anyone else as annoyed at the Ellen Fox advertisement as I was? Although I didn't flame her in the e-mail I sent her, I sure was tempted! "He has some really friendly young ladies working for him" - What's this supposed to mean to us? Should I call just to speak to them? Hmm... ANYWAY! Living here in NW Pennsylvania, the best place to get L42 has consistently been . . . Toronto! Most of the good stuff I have has come from the Yonge Street shops. That's where I found my mix albums and "Staring" and "True" on CD. I got most of these years ago, so I don't know how hard they are to find now. Any info would be greatly appreciated!
