TZSONOI @ Harding.edu ------------------------------ Subject: Chat Room and more From: Richard Smith Date: Wed, 31 Jan 1996 11:13:49 GMT Seems like some interest in the Chat Room idea so here is my suggestion to get this up and running. 1. Start date Feb 11th This gives everyone time to find some chat software and practise. 2. Suggest we all use same software if poss NSChat is the easiest to use IMHO and is available for download from the "http://home.netscape.com/comprod/chat.html" page 3. Individual Beta Testing I have established, on a trial basis, a chat room called "Levelheaders" at the following server address (liberator.dal.net) (port 7000) Not sure if this is a UK based server or not, but I have "chatted" with people from all over the world and Ipswich, with no problems. Can someone in the US please try this and let me know what the response is like etc. 4. Spread the word Spread the word about this digest and the chat room to anyone you chat to, as the more the merrier! Did anyone else lucky enough to experience a number of concerts feel that the boys started with the wrong songs ? Let me set the scene 10,000 fans pumped up on anticipation, shouting, clapping whistling there favourite tunes from the latest CD bought just last week ! Suddenley the lights dim, smoke fills the hall, curtains open, Thunderbirds theme tune starts..... ( dum dun dum dum dumdumdum dummdummdone OK you try writing the thunderbirds tune !) FIVE, FOUR, THREE, TWO, ONE "Good Evening Birmingham/Toronto/Paris/Ney York/Milan/Tokyo/Botley Town Hall"**** then........ some unreleased track of the next album like A Floating Life !!! Result, all but the diehards sit down, and Mark and the boys have to work overtime to get the whole show going again !! Which of course they can do with their eyes closed using some kickin' track like Lessons in Love or SAY. Anybody out there agree ?? **** Delete as applicable Favourite Song Now the time has come to tell you how I feel........ Love Games has to be the all time favourite for all Level 42 fans surely !! (this should stimulate comment Eric get ready for server overload) Without Love Games being the hit it was, we would probably never have anymore Level 42 stuff. After all two previous singles ahd failed to make the charts. The song itself displays all the factors that make Level 42 ie Wally's sounds filling the gaps around Mark's thumping Bass, Mike's squeaky voice and sound keyboard, good well crafted lyrics that you can hear and understand. On many occasions Love Games provided the platform for Mark to let his hair down and let rip, musically and verbally.. Bass solos and changed lyrics such as "...show your tits to me" Personally I think it's the ultimate timeless example of Brit Funk let alone the best thing L42 ever did !! If you like L42 and/or Brit Funk I think you should worship Love Games, it started it all !!!!!!!! I feel better now that's off my chest !! I just wanted to thank Joseph Smith of Memphis for replying to my message about the Guaranteed Live video. He is going to make me a copy of that tape. As far as anyone who would like to have a copy of the new Toto import album I spoke of, please e-mail me and we can set something up. It's very good, so I will only be making tapes and not trading it away! Have a great weekend! ------------------------------ Subject: L42 jeopodise My Marriage and Sex Life From: Richard Smith Date: Fri, 2 Feb 1996 15:44:01 GMT Can someone settle an arguement for me please...... Back in the mid eighties when touring Level 42 played Kouyate live using several sets of drums all with lights mouted in them. This was brilliantly effective as they blacked out the entire hall and used just bright white light. What I would like to know is.... did they use two or three sets of drums and who played them ?? I believe it was three with Mark, Mike and Phil but my dear wife disagrees. Please help save our marriage and give me back my sex life!!!! >perenoel @ altern.com "says" >atmosfear "dancing in outerspace", All I know about this is that it was released by the Elite label in 79/80, the same label who started our boys on the route to fame and fortune ! The KING of Bad Lyrics Long ago, high on a mountain in Mexico Lived a young shepherd boy Angelo Met a young girl and he loved her so Rich was she, came from a very high family Angelo knew it could never be They ran away to their destiny "Chorus" (all together now) Running away together Running away forever - Angelo Running away from danger Hiding from every stranger _ Angelo From " Angelo" By ????????? * To be continued unless you all send money NOW PS The next bit is realy sad !!!! You'll cry ! You've just experienced the Cybersensational Smith !
