Date: Sun, 28 Jan 1996 16:57:25 -0500 Greetings all, Just a quick 42 quip . . . Our new version of Windoze software has - you guessed it - 42 DLL files! Also on a previous digest (some of my inbound email is being dreadfully held up) about Audiophile Imports/CD Now. . . I recently ordered True Colours and replaced A Physical Presence in CD format. No argument that they are pricy, but 3 days after placing the order - right to my doorstep. If you'd know how difficult it was for us corn-fed Ohio'ans to find a descent music store that carries imports, price becomes a relative issue. BTW, first time hearing True Colours. Anyone else think 'A Floating Life' ranks among their best work? Cheers! Greg ------------------------------ Subject: Re: Twee swedish? I don't think so. That's not swedish, it looks more like dutch to me. Not that I know of course. Obviously I will be corrected also. The rest of what you quoted -- "kwam Level 42 na meer dan twee jaar stilte....." isn't Swedish, either, though I'm not sure what it is. For all I know it could be Flemish. ;-) SUppose it leaves the meaning of the word up for interpretation still, or at least the language! Anyone know? The English definition is good enough on its own, though! - lja ----- Awful Lyric of the Week: "(living?) in Mexico, living on refried dreams..." - overheard on a shopping mall PA, artist and title therefore mercifully anonymous ------------------------------ Subject: Wally/EP/Kassav hype From: DJRJ89073 @ aol.com Date: Mon, 29 Jan 1996 02:20:55 -0500 Lolita wrote: >wouldn't you agree that the song Novela das Nove sounds very >similar to the song World Machine? Not the melody line, but >the instrumentation. Yes, they sound similar because both songs used the infamous Linn Drum drum machine (wish I had one) which Wally used all over Echoes. I'm curious to know if anyone has ever seen the Chief Inspector EP on CD. I used to use Endless Race as my theme song and would love to have it on CD. Anybody? Rolfie: Either you forgot or you've been very busy? Off topic (sorry): I'm curious to know if we have any Kassav fans on the list. They've been kickin' my butt all week with their new CD Dife (on Columbia France 4806972). If you're not familiar with them they are from Martinique and have been called the Earth, Wind & Fire of the Caribbean. They play Zouk music and I just love it (just ask ONE-dah). I'd say it's definitely funk-related. I bet some of our Paris fans know them as they do much of their recording there and also released a wicked live CD that was recorded at the Zenith. I love this band, check them out if you get a chance. Positively, DJ-RJ.
