Mark then goes onto suggest it's his trousers, and then it's Crockford... Any ideas ? "The Chant Has Begun" and (even worse) "Hot > Water" are almost unbearable. Hot Water is embarrasing ???!!!!! I take it you're not hoping to make new friends through this mailing list! I can see that you'd probably rather listen to crap like "Children Say" than funk classics like "Shapeshifter" and "Sandstorm"!!!! I am trying to figure out the lyrics to 'Micro Kid'. I think during one of the parts before the chorus, it starts out: Knowledge will survive in the minds of a few...(?) In a way that..... I can't seem to get the same two answers as I listen to this. Any help? Thanks in advance... Mike Dutra Pleasanton, CA PS: Anyone looking for L42 CD's might want to try: http://www.cdnow.com They seemed to have quite an extensive catalog. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++ The only things limitless are the Universe and human stupidity...and I'm not completely certain about the former... First things first, though, we aren't burning discs at the moment. Buzz-kill. Sorry. As we aren't going to an outside source to do discs, we have to find people on the list who have CD recorder to make discs for others on the list. Also, the only cost you pay is for the blank disc and shipping. This little excercise of ours is non-profit (in fact, due to my trouble with my CD recorder, I am now over $400(US) in the hole on the project. It's for the greater Level-Good!!!). This statement is not an invitation to debate the legality of the disc (that's been beated into the ground...) but to let those of you know this simply isn't a money maker. AT ALL. So, if you want one of the B-side discs, here's what you do: Send me an email at jvenzon @ primenet.com or jvenzon @ aol.com with this in the header: **I want a disc**. This allows me to single out your request from the sea of email I get. Include the following: 1) Your name - you'd be surprised how many people just post 'I want one! Signed, j899dkf @ dink.com.' No idea who that is. Still don't. 2) Your address - I'm keeping track of where everyone is in my massive 'LevelBase' to make sure you actually GET the disc. 3) If you have a CD recorder and would be willing to help the cause 4) If you have notable cool rare stuff. Remember, Mark King solo with a drum machine qualifies as "Holy COW!!!! Where did you find THAT?!?!? Gimmie!!!" That's what we are looking for. 5) If you have a DAT player to copy it too. It's a digital world I live in, and CDs and DATs are all I have to master from. Sorry, but that's it. Your name will be placed on the waiting list, and as soon as more people come forward to say 'I'll burn some discs!' I'll email, tell you were to buy blanks and who to send them to. Matthew Blackmon has found a great source for high quality blank CDs for dirt cheap, so when the time comes, I'll let you know. At them moment there are a total of 12 people on the waiting list with more coming in every day, so don't wait. ----------------------- Ok, all you LA LevelHeads, I just found 'Live at Wembley' for $22 at the Virgin Megastore yesterday (Saturday). They had 2 copies left in the import section, so quick! Run and get it. It's the great SATS lineup, as those of us in the US didn't really get to hear it. Takes the edge off, you know. Damn you lucky UK fans! Damn you! Dive into the neon love machine chilins, John ------------------------------ Subject: Just talking... From: LVL42 @ aol.com Date: Sun, 23 Jun 1996 19:11:50 -0400 Hello all - I've been reading all of the talk going on and felt remiss that I haven't said anything - it's kind of creepy if one person sits in the back of a crowded room and doesn't say anything so I won't let the world of technology be an excuse for rudeness. I don't really have anything specific to say, except maybe that after listening to all of my L42 CD's again, I do seem to prefer the more recent tracks, especially since SATS. Here's a list of what I think to be some of the best songs (in no particular order): Heaven In My Hands; Lying Still; Hours By The Window (haunting); It's Over (send the tape to someone if you want to break off a relationship w/out direct contact); Leaving Me Now; Love in a Perfect World; Good Man In A Storm; Something About You; *Romance*; Forever Now; Talking in Your Sleep; Children Say; Seven Years; A Kinder Eye; Overtime; Lessons In Love; Why Are You Leaving.... Not to say that ANY other L42 song is bad by any means - these to me are 10's among a plethora of 9's on a 1-10 scale. By the way - Saffron, if you are listening, I live in Pittsburgh and thought that you mentioned that you were going to be here. Drop me a line if you wish and we can discuss the (almost non-existent) L42 scene here. Well, I just wanted to put my two cents in and be a part of great conversation. Forgive my babbling. LVL42 @ aol.com P.S. For those of you who got to see the Austin performance, my jealousy is without end. ------------------------------ Subject: Many thanks & other stuff From: "Jay Tracy" Date: Sun, 23 Jun 1996 21:42:30 -0400 (EDT) Just went to my mailbox and there they were, some tapes from Winston (thanks W!) and the b-sides CD! Big thanks to John for his outstanding time and work, also to everyone else involved in this very cool project !!!! As for the news about Mark all of a sudden finding his new material to be "too angry", well, that has to be the most absurd thing I've heard in some time. He goes through all the work, even starts shopping it around, now all of a sudden it's not right. I don't buy this. Kind of like that silly story of Prince's Black Album, he was spouting some crap that his evil side wrote those tunes so that he wasn't going to release it. Rubbish ! I saw a bit of an interview w/ the director of that Pam Anderson flick _Barbwire_, you know who he is ? Well, Mark once called him, "My mate". It's David Hogan, who was shown looking a bit ticked @ Mark in the making of the "Take A Look" video. A non Level note (sorry), does anyone have a copy of last months Bass Player magazine, the one w/ Alain Caron on the cover ? If someone could be so kind as to photocopy this interview for me, I saw it once, forgot to pick it up, then next time I look all I see is Gene Simmons on the cover. Thanks. Also a thought I had after listening to/viewing a bunch of Level concerts, in "Living It Up", since the World Machine tour (or RItFamily), with Mark's lines of "I don't want to got to war---said I need to love someone" he never says "before the Atom bomb" anymore. Most of the time he just throws in an agressive-type "huh!". Wonder why. Hope everyone is enjoying the summer. ..jay
