Any idea why the change of lyrics? When I saw them in '87, they did start the show with The Chinese Way, after coming on stage to the Stingray theme-tune. Also, it sounds as if you've got the same bootleg tape as me which has the different version of Running in the Family. The quality of my tape isn't great, so it's difficult to make out the different lyrics, but they sound just as good. If your tape is better, could you post the lyrics? It's interesting that the "middle-eight" part ("Like a dream within a dream, we're all somewhere in between" etc.) has no lyrics in the different live version, and is just an instrumental break. This is probably why the Live at Wembley video has the video promo of RITF rather than the live version, due to the change in lyrics (the bootleg is from the same venue, but not the same show - Dec. 1986). I'm sorry, but this is silly too. It sounds like you're asking, in essence, that only L42 fans review L42 albums. Mass-audience reviews aren't meant for fans, they're meant for the mass audience, most of whom don't have a clue about the band either. If you see reviews as a way to tell people what they're likely to think of an album (which is a valid approach in my opinion) then it's perfectly valid to have someone unfamiliar with an artist review that artist. Most of the people reading the review will be just as unfamiliar with the artist, and their reaction to the material would likely be similar. And if the album is meant *only* for the fans and not a mass audience, then maybe they shouldn't have sent review copies to Q . . . -- ::: Lazlo (lazlo @ swcp.com; http://www.swcp.com/lazlo) ------------------------------ Subject: Syd and Gary and Mike plus Mark's Poop and Steel Grey From: "Lazlo Nibble" Date: Tue, 11 Jun 1996 09:32:54 -0600 (MDT) > Well, I don't know if this is the reason, but there is another connection > between Level 42 and the Syd Lawrence Orchestra--Gary Husband used to play > for them. I like Paul Hardcastle pretty well in general but lately he's done a lot of fluffier material that I'm not as enamored of. Jazzmasters looks pretty fluffy. :-) -- ::: Lazlo (lazlo @ swcp.com; http://www.swcp.com/lazlo) ------------------------------ Subject: Live at Wembley CD From: "Lazlo Nibble" Date: Tue, 11 Jun 1996 09:34:37 -0600 (MDT) > I have a very important request. From: Rob Kadel Date: Tue, 11 Jun 1996 12:46:33 -0400 (EDT) Hi, all. I want to reiterate Julian's request from yesterday, and add to it. Has anyone in the US found the new Live at Wembly CD yet? And if so, where? Also, has anyone in the US found the latest compilation CD (what's it called, Turn It On?)? We have both HMV and Tower stores here in Atlanta, but so far neither of them has had anything recent. -Rob ************************************************************************ Rob Kadel Department of Sociology Institutional Planning and Research 404-727-7510 Emory University 404-727-0765 ------------------------------ Subject: Jeremy... where are you?
