Also, Marcus Bone (k940372 @ crystal.kingston.ac.uk) will be comming as well, although I'm not sure if he knows it yet. Well, here's an unrelated observation that I don't suspect anyone will be interested in: the designers 'Me Company' who designed the cover of the Forever Now single also did all the Bjork album and single covers. Well, now you all know. Here's an even less relevant piece of info that shocked me a bit, apparently nobody makes tubular bells anymore. When Mike Oldfield produced Tubular Bells II he had make a set of bells especially. Yours Off-topically, David ------------------------------ Subject: Phils pants From: Marcus Bone Organization: Kingston University (Science) Date: Thu, 16 May 1996 12:14:54 GMT0BST Can anyone get me a pair of Phils pants (underpants that is) - it doesn't even matter if they're not ironed. Maybe Loz can help me out? Society Against Mail Signatures (Affiliated to the Ritual Humiliation Network) ------------------------------ Subject: Slow songs From: lolita @ interserv.com Date: Thu, 16 May 1996 05:24:05 -0700 I would like to contribute to the slow songs thread. My favorite Level slow jam would have to be Lying Still (would have _loved_ to hear/see this performed live!), with Out of Sight, Out of Mind a close second. Those two songs are beyond funky: they have great basslines and remind me of hard core 70's funk ballads. My favorite slow song lyrically [sp?] would have to be It's Over. That song is cold-blooded! Question: I just got the Resurgence version of Forever Now [which I like infinitely better than the Japanese version; the track order is more coherent, Billy's Gone is much better with different drums and lyrics, and the songs missing from the other version are cool], and I've been listening to Heart on the Line. Many of you panned that song, but I happen to like it a lot - it's my favorite of the week. My question is: what the hell is Mike chanting during the chorus when Mark is singing? (And more importantly - is it available as freeware! :) ) I keep mine in a flat file, a la: LEVEL 42|Starchild (remix-long)/Foundation...(1+2)|12|GE|Polydor|2141-436|81|950908|net|8 LEVEL 42|Starchild (ext)/Turn It On (ext) [promo]|12|US|Polydor|PDD 520|00|901127|bw|3 LEVEL 42|Are You Hearing (What I Hear?) I'd probably use a database if there was one that met my needs that ran here at SWCP but I can't really do this on my home machine because the data needs to be available here more than it needs to be available at home... -- ::: Lazlo (lazlo @ swcp.com; http://www.swcp.com/lazlo) ------------------------------ Subject: Re: The Remixes II From: "Lazlo Nibble" Date: Thu, 16 May 1996 09:56:15 -0600 (MDT) >> I notice that Intergalactic Garage is taking pre-orders on the new >> remix album (due early next month) -- does anyone have a tracklist yet? > > Or any other info, for that matter (who's releasing it? CD 6/7. [$16.99] $15.29 Contains remixes not available on the Polygram album. Kind of vaguely implies that some other label is doing it, though I wouldn't bet real money on that. -- ::: Lazlo (lazlo @ swcp.com; http://www.swcp.com/lazlo) ------------------------------ Subject: Subscriber stats From: "Eric J. They're all in excellent condition. I'll let them go for $9 each including post (is that reasonable?) if you're in the US. If you're not we can work something out. Drop me a line. What ho! I know this thread is trivial with a capital 't' (so I suppose it's Trivial, really then) but just how does "orphan" sound in an American accent? On a more serious level, I promise I will try and find my old tapes of radio interviews etc. and transcribe them. But we all love them, right?!!!! Seeing this comment reminded me of a sketch by Mel Smith and Griff Rhys-Jones where Griff is takes his beat-up old car to a garage for a service. We see him collect it again and the mechanic (Mel) says something like: "We had to do quite a lot of work to it, mate. You needed new fluffy dice, the springs in your 'nodding dog' were completely shot and you had no Paul Young or Level 42 tapes in the glove-box!" Bless.
