I've found the recent thread about Mark's comic asides during concerts
interesting. Mark definitely gives the impression that he has a puerile and
childish [Derek & Clive]  sense of humour and, though he's probably a 'good
laugh' to be around 99 percent of the time,  I can well imagine  his
'japes' getting on your nerves occasionally - especially, Sir,  when he's
had a drink or two.

To be fair, I can see how a throw-away comment during a live concert (when
you're young and immature) might haunt you later in life if the concert is
recorded...somehow though, I doubt if Mark has lost any sleep over it, in
fact, he probably still finds such incidents just as funny.

When listening to the infamous 'tits' reference on The White Funky you can
picture Phil and Boon looking across at eachother, despairing and mildly
amused "I can't believe he just said that, you've gotta laugh at him"
whereas Mike, disapproving, is saying "I don't mind a laugh Mark but do you
have to be so crude?" - any other suggestions of what they might be
thinking Sir?

Also, I can make out the "OK Skip" and "Right-Oh Skip" in The Bends but
I'd love to know  what the other person (Mark?) putting on the stupid posh
accent and doing the static noises  is saying - personally Sir, I like
these bits.

PS. I hope you enjoyed my 18th century/Ben Jonson /restoration use of the
word 'Sir' throughout  this posting. (a la Danny Baker)

I noticed a few  people expressed interest in a video of the
band's last performance at Royal Albert Hall. Well, do to the
great generosity of Mike Payne in Oklahoma, I have a copy of
this video tape. Mike was kind enough to bring it with him to
New York. The video is shot from a handheld camcorder. I haven't
watched the entire concert, but it is definetely worth checking
out.

If anyone is interested, please contact me and we can work out
the details of getting one to you. (you supply the tape, and I'll
do the dubbing & shipping!)

Greetin's folks.

As regards "She can't help herself", I have to say that my line of thinking 
was along the same lines as Loz - ie the girl was orphaned (sp?) - for 
quite some time.  Having said that, with the recent discussion on this 
issue, I now feel the subject IS about rape.  I guess I didn't really 
look into the lyrics properly.  That's the thing about music - we can all 
interpret the same thing in different ways.

About the word "awfun" that Loz used in his post about "She Can't Help
Herself", it took me awhile to figure it out but by context clues, I figured
he meant "orphan".  If you say the word "orphan" in an English accent, it
sounds like "awfun."

You're a sick man! However, in my DJ days, I used to slip in bits of the 
Guaranteed remixes and take an evil pleasure in watching people dancing 
away. If they'd known, they would have probably walked out. I don't know 
if any of the UK lot will agree with me, but the majority of this island 
think Level 42 is tacky-ford-escort-pop (and then the next week say "hey 
I heard that World Machine album the other day... weren't they a great 
band"). Strange world.

Zak... those t-shirts look 10 times better in real life... I fair danced
