Around that time Level 42 also played on a soap opera. I think it was One Life to Live. They had a bunch of characters at the bar and they were all commenting on the cool new sound. That was kind of surreal to say the least. Has anyone heard of the group "The Nightcatchers"? I was organizing my record collection last nite, and came upon a 12' single that I forgot about. It's "I Can't Believe" by "The Nightcatcher's" and is produced by MARK KING. The record is from 1985. Anyone heard the album this track came from. Did Mark produce any other tracks for them? Winston Anyone ------------------------------ Subject: Live at Wembly From: Richard Smith Date: Wed, 10 Apr 1996 14:32:58 +0100 Whilst browsing Polydor's Home Page i came across the following Level 42 Cassette "Live At Wembley POL Cass: 041 513-3" ? Does anyone know what this refers to? I have the Video but this says it is a cassette and has a different catalogue number?? Any plans out there for a Pilgrimage 2 ? As I may not now make the first one. Just a thought but what about trying to combine the Pilgrimage 2 with Mark's new Band touring ? I 'm sure he would want to try out his new stuff on Level Headers who are most likely to give him a strong reception. Any Comments ????? Richard PS Sorry to Nigel for not making the Pilgrimage, I know you and Daniel etc have worked hard at preparing this trip. Let us all know the Low Down. From: Mr Fish Date: Wed, 10 Apr 1996 15:19:18 +0100 (BST) Marcus Bone and I will be going to the Isle of Wight on Saturday 13th April. Is anybody else planning to go? If so perhaps we can meet up (in Portsmouth/Ryde/Jo Daflos)? I hope to hear from someone!! Cheers, David. ------------------------------ Subject: Loz, Crock & the new album From: ben @ flump.netkonect.co.uk (Benedict Poole) Date: Wed, 10 Apr 1996 15:50:29 +0000 Hi all With reference to Loz's enquiry about the original message concerning a new live L42 album, I brought up the release as soon as I heard about it - but someone else had mentioned it on the list too, I noticed. It's confusing. HMV gave a catalogue number (I think), but I noticed that the album was DEFINITELY on Polydor, and scheduled for release in the UK on the 29th April. Of course this will change, because release dates always do, I've found! Maybe this *is* the release Crock was talking about Loz? I just presumed it was stuff from '86 when I saw it, but I have no confirmation of that; it could well be from '89 or whenever. Hope that clears things up a bit. For anyone who wants to check in their local HMV, it was on one of the big new releases print-outs they have either tacked to the wall or behind the sales desks. Non-Level now: Does *anyone* know when Warren Cuccurullo's solo CD, Thanks to Frank, is coming out in the UK??? It's been out three weeks in the USA, and was mentioned in the UK music press almost a year ago. It's on Imago in the US I believe. I've emailed Cyndi Glass (of Warren's fanclub) and a guy at Imago, to no avail. Sorry again for the non-Level bit. No, hang on, tenuous links abound! (1) Pino Palladino's on it, and he played on Changes. (2) Nick Beggs is on it too (friendly with Mark, and mutual admirers I believe - plus they're both fine, blond bass players). (3) Vinnie Colaiuta is on it too, and he plays with Sting, as does Dominic Miller, who's played with L42. (4) Vinnie's also played with Nik Kershaw, who's played with Mark. You get the idea. TTFN! This is to "replace" my vinyl version which is still in the UK, and I haven't heard for ages. Anyway, there's a track called "Follow Me" which Mark tells the audience is new. I was wondering, did the band ever record a studio version of the song? I also have a 12" single released from the album (can't remember what, though) which has a slightly different version of "Follow Me" on it. As far as I can remember the only difference is Mike singing "Di-doo-doo-di-doo Di-do-doo-di-doo" etc over one part of the track. If he did that live (as opposed to a backing track) I'm impressed, 'cause there seems to be hardly any time to breath! Catch ya later, Kevin. "Everything is everything. I just found out (via Bob Gajarsky's "Consumable" e-zine) that Tears For Fears will be playing at Avalon in Boston on April 19. This is a small but decent venue near Fenway Park (right next to Aerosmith's Mamakin's bar). Anyone interested in meeting up for the show (and perhaps food before or after the show), please email at eric @ worldmachine.com. Thanks, Eric -- Eric J. Even though I still need to HTML-ize some articles that Lars-Ove sent me about four months ago, I am always looking for more L42-related articles to add to the website. And I plan to catch up on *this* as well in the next few weeks, so rest assured you all *will* see these added soon. Oh, and last call for the L42 songs on MPEG-audio, I'm about to delete them from my FTP space. Unlike most stores that just have what people bring them, this guy goes out and looks for things at shows and stuff. He almost always has Running and WorldMachine and sometimes others. But I now have more than enough copies of those two on record now that i have a few to have and then a couple brand new ones. I have told him to buy everything LEvel 42 he can get his hands on. Like I said, he is always getting more in, and usually sells them for only $3 or $4. I would gladly buy them at that price and re-sale them at the same just for the benefit of putting them in a person's caring hands, instead of constantly being looked over by the masses. So if you would like a copy of WorldMachine or Running in the Family on Vinyl. E-mail me. The cost would most likely be $3 plus a little shipping. I thought there might be a few of you out there who would like to have them just for sentimental reasons. *Insert Tear Here*. E-mail me if interested. The guys at AudioPhile Imports seem very cool and informed. If anyone knows where i can get a copy of "The white Funky" please let me know.
