Let me guess - you don't like Sting? Just a shot in the dark there. Too bad, he's a great songwriter and lyricist. You like The Police? just curious... :) However, I do agree that Vinnie is definitely "not cooking" on Sting's albums, which is too bad. He's a fantastic drummer. >I would like to also mention a big "thank you" to Zak for getting the >whole t-shirt project off the ground. No problem. Also, if their are any music videos from Guaranteed or possibly Forever Now, what are they? and can I send someone a blank VHS to get a copy. Thanks [they appeared on SNL during the Worldmachine era. -Eric] ------------------------------ Subject: Introductory... We have to do it again sometime; maybe in May. It turned out that only Winston and I could meet that day, but we both made out pretty well. We watched a bunch of BobC tapes and he dubbed four of them from me. In return, I obtained Live At Wembley, Guaranteed Live, and a cassette tape of B-sides such as Return of the Handsome Rugged Man and Freedom from Thunderthumbs and the Toetsenmann. Which brings me to my next point. Throughout all this CD talk, I tend to agree with Winston. Remixes are cool, but everyone has heard the original songs ad nauseum. I had never heard any of the B-sides that Winston put on tape for me, and the thrill of hearing a Level 42 song for the first time means all the world to me. I know there are a number of people on the digest who have a lot of the B-sides and may feel less inclined to have this, but I think the vast majority of digest subscribers are like me: I have all the commercial releases, but can't find the B-sides anywhere and have consequently never heard most of them. Winston has already agreed to submit everything he has on DAT tape, so I think a three CD set comprised of 1)B-sides, 2)live tracks and 3)remixes would be the best. Eric - I sent you digest #93-95; hope you got them OK. Loz - I want a book. I need your address to send you a check. Zak - I hope you got my T-shirt order; I know it was late. I am sending you a check today. There are also straight slide show modules with After > Dark that can read PICT format images. Either way, it'll work. Well, I can certainly convert the images to PICS or PICT format, but what I was looking for was an engine that would allow me to control the ordering of the images, and also include a caption as Pat's version does. I'll look through some of the Mac shareware stuff that I have on CD and that's on the Net and see if I can find what I'm looking for. I just thought someone might know of something off hand. > >> I'd be interested in that Modern Drummer article on Gary Husband that > >> someone mentioned. > > > >I have a copy of this laying around. I don't think that finding a drummer would be a problem. I highly respect Phil Collins' talents as a drummer but most of what was done on the most recent Genesis releases was drum machine. Believe me I would much rather see Mark with Level 42, and I hope his solo career takes off, but if not at least his talents could be showcased in a very popular band and maybe he would finally receive the kind of acknowledgement that he deserves. As far as singing the older material just lower the key and change the arrangements to fit his style. BOB ------------------------------ Subject: Just a random quote. Reminded of MKs situation From: "Jay Tracy" Date: Tue, 9 Apr 1996 01:10:49 -0400 (EDT) Scanning over some interviews on various Web pages, I came across this bit with John Taylor (Duran Duran bass player, also just released a solo record), this little quote reminded me of what a certain someone we all care about should re-think: "I'm not considering a major label. I would possibly do a distribution deal with a distributor. I don't really want to get involved with anybody that's going to try to change me. I don't really need what a major label can give me...I want to maintaina level of purity in it. I don't need somebody saying, "Well, John, we like that song, but we really don't like that one. Is there any chance you've got anything more like that?" All the kind of bullshit games that I've really, really been playing in Duran for so many years. I don't have to do that with this." --jay
