Lazlo Nibble ------------------------------ Subject: Prince's Trust Concerts From: lolita @ interserv.com Date: Tue, 2 Jan 1996 07:55:00 -0800 Hey all! Happy New Year and all that good stuff. I found myself with a couple of hours to kill yesterday, so I finally got around to watching the BobC Tape #5 with the Prince's Trust Concerts on them. A few questions and observations: 1) I didn't really care for the concert from 1987. Eric Clapton looked extremely bored while playing along with Running in the Family. The guy from Go West was the highlight of that one for me. 2) I thought the '89 show was much better, with the entire Level 42 lineup being the house band. Plus, I have never seen Alan Murphy play. He really was great. 3) Will Downing singing Free (a song originally by Denise Williams) was positively spiritual. He is one of my favorite singers of all time, and the combo of his velvety voice and Mark's funky playing had me wishing he sang more than one song. Mark looked like he was having a ball, and hearing him on an R&B classic convinces me that he needs to play more of that stuff. 4) Who was the blond guy with the long hair that sang about three songs? He has a great voice, but I don't think I have ever heard anything else he's done. One final note: I don't know if this was already stated, but the person looking for Dream Crazy should buy the UK version of World Machine. That song is one of my all time favorites, and I always play it before I go out to a party. Definitely gets me in the mood. Lohr, if you want to hear the song "Dream Crazy" find > the UK version of the World Machine album, it's on there. There are also 2 other songs, "I Sleep On My Heart" and "Coup D'Etat," which aren't on the US version as well which make the UK version of World Machine a must have. >Take a look at http://www.griffinmusic.com, and see their listing >for Forever Now. You will notice two things: First, there's only 12 >tracks, second, it's not yet available. I wonder if they are waiting to see how successful the Resurgence version does in the US first? If there is only going to be 12 tracks on the Griffin release I may just go ahead and order the Resugence version. That's what they may be afraid of. >We (the hospital) got beat by 60 bloody seconds from having >the 1st baby of the 'new year'... I can hear it now, "....10 seconds till 1996!!" "Push Mrs. Smith!!!" Everyone is arguing about which songs are on which versions of Forever Now, and even though I don't have all of them in front of me, I'll try my best to list the tracks on each. I'm pretty sure this is correct, although I may not remember the UK RCA release completely accurately. Here goes (note: these may not be in the right order on the disc): FN-RCA, UK release: Forever Now Model Friend Tired of Waiting All Over You Love in a Peaceful World Romance (not sure about this one) Billy's Gone (original version) One in a Million Sunbed Song Don't Bother Me Talking in Your Sleep FN-RCA, Japan release: Forever Now Model Friend Tired of Waiting All Over You Love in a Peaceful World Romance Billy's Gone (original version) One in a Million Sunbed Song Don't Bother Me Past Lives Talking in Your Sleep Learn to Say No FN-Resurgence, UK release: Billy's Gone (completely different mix from the RCA releases) The Bends (originally a B-side to Love in a Peaceful World) Play Me (new) The Sunbed Song Past Lives Don't Bother Me Heart on the Line (Skeletal mix) (also a B-side to LiaPW) Romance Time Will Heal (new) Learn to Say No Forever Now Model Friend Love in a Peaceful World One in a Million (slightly longer than original release) Talking in Your Sleep And as everyone has already mentioned, nobody seems to be talking about what the Griffon release is like, since no one can find it, which is a big pain. Anyway, hope this clears up some of the confusion. -Rob ------------------------------ Subject: Re: Level42 Digest V95 #135 From: flanagan @ mwci.net (Pat Flanagan) Date: Mon, 1 Jan 1996 10:38:22 -0600 >The RCA/BMG version DOES include the songs "All Over You", (much >different from the single) Really.
