Hansen) Date: Fri, 3 Feb 95 10:40:43 EST Subject: Other videos and U.S. release of Influences I have the Level Best video, but am curious if there are other videos that they made before releasing this collection (i.e., like the Starchild footage from Top of the Pops [I think it's called]). I have also seen the "Family of Five" video collection, which has just five videos - all of which are on Level Best anyways. Any idea why they came out with this?! A strange thing that I mentioned to Lazlo a while back... one of the camera shots from the "It's Over" video is used as the cover for the U.S. release of Mark's "Influences" album. This is a shot of him sitting on a rock with the mountains in the background (note: he is wearing his Puma sneakers!) This is a peculiarity, since the Influences album was released _before_ the song "It's Over", and certainly before the video was shot. Best I can figure, they didn't release Influences in the U.S. until a few years later, and they needed a cover (I don't know why they didn't use the original UK one)... Oh, and speaking of which, am I the only one who has the **U.S.** release of Influences? Bostonians: I was fortunate enough to find this gem while flipping through the "K" bin at Newbury Comics, Burlington a few years back... go figure... I had the same success with Wally Badarou's "Echos". Well, Family Of Five came out several years before Level Best did -- it's pretty much just a standard "here are our most recent videos" release. The only other pre-Level Best video compilation I know of is the Video Singles EP (The Sun Goes Down (Living It Up) / Hot Water / Something About You / Leaving Me Now / Lessons In Love). > ...am I the only one who has the **U.S.** release of Influences? I wouldn't doubt it -- sometimes I think there were only four or five copies pressed in the US. :-) I've never seen a new copy for sale *anywhere*, and only once used. -- ::: Lazlo (lazlo @ rt66.com) ::: http://rt66.com/lazlo/ features Discographies, Record ::: Collecting Resources, The Internet Music Wantlists, and more.
