Subject: Level 42 Digest, #285 ===================== * LEVEL 42 DIGEST * ===================== Digest 285 Monday, 01/23/95 111 subscribers Today's messages: Re: Manu Katche Re: Level 42 Digest, #282 Re: Level 42 Digest, #283 Bits and Bobs ------------------------------ From: John Edward Martin Shuford Date: Sun, 22 Jan 1995 11:19:55 -0800 (PST) Subject: Re: Manu Katche Manu Katche-- Let's see if we can clear this up. I saw Sting on the Nothing Like The Sun Tour, but I cannot recall who was his drummer then, but as pointed out, it was Manu on drums for the album. I believe that he also played on Soul Cages, but it was Vinny Coaliuta (sp?) who toured with him. I saw Sting fairly late in the tour, so it is possible that Manu may have started the tour and Vinny completed it. Unless my liner notes are wrong on Soul Cages, it was Manu and not yet Vinny. ------------------------------ From: eva @ slim.slnsw.GOV.AU (Eva Zsigri) Date: Mon, 23 Jan 1995 09:26:35 +1100 (EST) Subject: Re: Level 42 Digest, #282 Continuing on the Nik Kershaw theme : > As an interesting side note, I heard a rumor > that Peter Cox, lead singer of the former group Go West (my favorite group, > also!) is working with Kershaw on a solo album. Isn't it interesting that all > three groups are now sort of inter-connected! Oh my god!! New material from these guys is going to be awesome! Nik is my all time favourite, I'm a radical Kershaw collector and even tried to get a half decent web page going once, with a sorta discography. (If anyone want to know about specific releases, please let me know as I have a whole bunch of NK recordings). It is true that NK has been a Mark King fan for a long time and this could've been one of the other reasons I was attracted to Level 42. I used to have a Kershaw mailing list running too but let it slide through lack of interest. If anyone is deeply interested in getting the NK mailing list going, please email me privately. The URL for the web page is: http://www.st.nepean.uws.edu.au/~ezsigri/nik/nik.html > The reason I chose to post my letter to the digest rather than > privately, is because I'd enjoy hearing from other Go West fans that are > out there, and if anyone knows of a similar Go West digest, discography, FAQ, > newsgroup, etc.? I have looked for one myself on the net, but haven't come across one yet. I love this relationship between these bands. Go West have a great sound and it's a shame they seemed to be caught up in all the teeny bopper hype. It's a good long appearance by the band, and the version of Love Games used is the US Remix (as appears on The Remixes album). All for now... ------------------------------ From: Michael BROOKS Organization: Technology Date: Mon, 23 Jan 1995 11:03:48 GMT Subject: Bits and Bobs Just a quickie! Vinnie Colaiuta was the drummer for The Soul Cages tour NOT Manu Katche! By the way, to all those people who mailed me with regard to the live tapes, I can also do tape copies of Influences and Changes for all those of you who are overseas and may find it hard to get hold of these albums. I finish my exams this week so I will be in touch to all of you next week with regard to tapes, etc. Would people find it handy if I posted a short list of what I've got and then you can choose ectra tracks from CD,s etc to fill up the gaps on the tapes as some of the gigs only take one and a half sides of a tape? And, in case people failed to read one of my earlier messages, I have Influences on vinyl brand new if anyone is interested.
