I don't know whether it was on _On A Level_ or _Level Best_ first, though. Glad you enjoyed most of the tape. Everyone - I have a sad story about _The White Funky_ ... ready with your Kleenex boxes? I called a store in Boston (CD Spins) a couple of weeks ago (on Eric's tip - thanks Eric, this wasn't your fault!) and asked the shopkeeper to set aside the copy of White Funky he had. I told him I'd send a money order for it, since he wouldn't accept credit card. Money was tight, so I wasn't able to get the money order until yesterday. I called the store last night just to remind the shopkeeper that I still wanted the disc -- but he had sold it earlier that day! He's not sure when or even _if_ he can get another copy in. Can anyone tell me where else I might be able to get a copy of this disc? I've learned my lesson... I'll order it right away next time (if there IS a next time.... :( Keep livin' the dream of the Micro Kid, Jeremy =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Jeremy J. There's actually a radio station here in the DC/Baltimore, 103.1 WRNR, whose format is "free form" -- they really are free formed...the only problem is, the music is so erratic and jarring its almost hard to take it in... the following is an example of their playlists: Metallica Basia Portishead Lynyrd Skynyrd Astrud Gilberto/Stan Getz The Villiage People I mean, in a matter of minutes you go from "Metal Up Your Ass" to "The Girl >From Ipanema." I'm all for variety in radio formatting, but you have to draw the line somewhere. Reguardless, WRNR is doing quite well in the local ratings (but, of course, this IS the DC area where the number one listened to station is an AM, all news station). I wouldn't call it free form, I'd call it Manic Depressive Radio. just a reflection by ROACH!!! I have seen two tapes and they are tremendous. Rare (EXTREMELY RARE) footage you are not going to find anywhere else. Music vids, concerts, interviews, bootlegs, all unavailable in the US. And thank Bob for running this stuff down for all of us. It's good quality and essential for the true fan (perhaps the Holy Grail of collector's items). 2) Promotion efforts: BobC and David Leslie can attest to this. We had a group on Prodigy of about 50 people who would call or write to Crockford, RCA NY, RCA London, and their local radio stations and record labels. We received lots of feedback. This was a reasonably-well organized effort (although in hindsight I can see lots of mistakes that we made). But the effort and enthusiasm level were all high. We even were getting feedback from magazines that supported our efforts (Bass Player and Modern Drummer), as well as the whole-hearted (if spotty) backing from Paul Crockford (and very frequent contact), and promises and assurances from Randy Goodman, VP of Marketing, RCA NY. The plan was to get people situated in most of the major markets in the US and to start pushing on the stations and stores for the new Level 42, even in some cases taking around promos by hand and delivering them to programming managers (I did this myself and received favorable results). But the bottom line is that to get support for the album, you have to get between 30 and 50 stations across the country all playing the same song. That's hard to do. I couldn't even get three stations to agree on which song to put into their heavy rotation! If anyone wants to talk to me more about this or anything else this summer, you can call me (up to 10:45 West Coast Time) at (503) 692-8152. That includes if you are interested in having me tape something for you. I have a pretty wide selection of rare stuff, and I'm always happy to help out and answer questions if I can. But if you should take me up on this offer, please note that I will be gone from June 16-25. So try to reach me before or after these dates. Have a great summer, MicroKids
